FC Infesta - A new CM experience - Come try it yourself!

Carlos*booda han an excelent idea. I can't say it better than his own words, so I hope he forgives me for sharing with everybody the email he sent me.

I think we should manage FC Infesta, because it's your namesake! BTW, you never did tell me why that's you ID. Do you live nearby or did you play for them? We could exchange ideas on the team (what players we found, what tactics seem to be working, problem players, etc.) and I think it could make for an interesting study of CM. Will we get players injured at the same time? will our winning or losing streaks coincide? is the software truly variable or are some parts scripted and bound to happen no matter what? No need to copy each other (that could get boring) just compare notes as we go...
Also, if you feel adventurous, some of the more competitive types (not me, I SUCK at this game!) might want to start with us and at the end of the season the highest rated manager would win a picture of the real team

So, what do you all think of the idea? If you want to come along, feel free to add your name. The lucky winner will get a FC Infesta picture! If I can get an official jersey I'll give it to you instead (FC Infesta doesn't sell t-shirts, I'm afraid).

And folks, this is a REAL challenge! This is going to take some building and scrounging. All those "pet" players you've found in Scandanavia, Egypt, and the Ukraine are not going to leave their First Div teams to come and play B-league ball in Portugal.:( But on the bright side, you do have 750k of transfer money to work with, and I have seen some decent free-transfers. I think the real trick will be to lure away Pinheiro, Antchouet, and To Madeira.

You experienced players will have to come up with the ground rules for the managerial contest. I'm having enough trouble figuring out how to play the game.:D

Let's start this thing going, then!

By the way, Antchouet is a classy player in real life. Very good indeed! I hope we can fish him to our side!

what do u mean with

what do u mean exactly with. All those "pet" players you've found in Scandanavia, Egypt, and the Ukraine?????

I'm speaking of the "great deals" that have been found on low-money, high-value players.

Kennedy Bakircioglu- ain't comin' (at least not for me:( )
Ibrahim Said- ain't comin'
Okoronkywo- ain't comin'

Just three examples of very popular CM players who may be enticed to join an EPL or Serie A club, but will not join our club.:( That's why I said this will be a challenge, because we're taking the difficulty to a higher level. We'll have to rely on under 100k players, keep checking the transfer list, and really scout Portugal, Brazil, and possibly Spain. (Do you guys scout Africa very much?)

Personally, I've outbid Santa Clara and Amadora for Pinheiro, I'll find out tonight if I got him!

Elio-got on loan from Marinhense
Nuno Abreu- bought off transfer list from Benfica
Andre- bought from Barreiras (in Brazil)

And what are the chances of getting a scout (Alberto Abad-Barcelona) to come in as Assistant Manager? He's got great numbers and I've offered to qudruple his salary, but so far "he shows no interest":(

Youth Team
Still awaiting word concerning Pinheiro in goal.

At least the defence is shaping up, a little. In addition to the three previously mentioned, Ricardo Carmo left Marinhense to join us and I aquired Harry Zeh (good jumping-heading abilities) from Espinho. We're still quite weak on the left side, Elio will just have to suffice for the time being. Miguel and Nelsinho will definitely remain and get a lot of playing time.

Marcelo and Jose Tavares will be in the midfield, with Ricardo Gomes assisting on the left side in some capacity. This is an area we need help. I would love to play Marcelo at AM (great long range shooting ability!) and have Tavares at DM, but we don't have any other good ball-handlers.

It's a hard thing to say, but we do not have an offensive threat. Amaral and Denilson will not score enough goals and something must be done. I'm sending a scout to Africa today to find us one or hopefully, two, better strikers.

The list of rejections keeps getting longer.:(
Antchouet- S- not interested
Bruno Lucas-D- Imortal rejected offer
Ricardo Malafaia-M- Maia rejected offer
To Madeira-S- not interested
China-M- not interested
Andre Paralta-S- Gouveia rejected offer
Joao Paralta-F- not interested
Of course I'm resubmitting offers to the teams that rejected, but when the players show no desire, I've NEVER been able to change their minds.

Well, got to go. The big exihibition match with Malveira is today and I need to put together an offence!

well i know

Carlos*booda
i know what u mean i thought that u just said egypt players r pets!!!
simply i'm egyptian and u can imagine that my team have at least 3 egyptian players
about the challenge i tell u one thing
I NEVER PLAY WITH A 1ST DIVISION TEAM
i always play in serie b or c1 or d3 d2 coz simply i only enjoy managing low level team and feel that i changed something
i played once with juventus and after on season winnig league and cup (but not champions league)
i just erased my save game i felt i was useless i didn't change anything only the tactics
the players were really unbeatable that's y i love playing with padova in italy and swansea in england and it's more alot fun to attend 3rd and promote than winning the top league
it's cool with padova when u start with 0 transfer funds and i just started selling old players to get just signing fees and cheap youngster it's really gr8 when u can buy a good player to ur team and here is my hint if a good player is on free and as usual u don't have enough wages to pay him as he wants
just sign a contract of 1 year or even 6 months and 50% will accept

Hi robbo2000, you are the first egyptian I have the pleasure to be talking with!
Don't you want to take the challenge and coach FC Infesta? We've just started and it seems like a lot of fun! ;)

Carlos, I am already embarrassed. You seem to have made a couple of good moves, and all I have managed to do is being on the verge to sign a couple good players (one of them being Pinheiro).
I am on the process of getting rid of Tavares. The guy is a legend around here, after all he started his career in Infesta and got playing time in FC Porto, Benfica, the National squad and even in the Champions League. He's still good, but his wages are far too high. I am getting cap space to buy a good young talent.

Answering your question, Portugal usually gets the best talents from Angola and Mozambique. A few examples are Benfica's Mantorras and Guimarães' André.

I've already played a friendly in Sevilla, against Betis B, and we've escaped with a 1-1 draw. Nelsom was the scorer. I got good performances by Amaral, Miguel, and a few others.
I got a little disappointed with Marcelo, to whom I predict a great future ni the first league. He wasn't at his best, getting a final 5 for his below par performance.
Still, I've offered him a new contract.

I don't knw if anyone's interested in this information, but since Leixões is Infesta's local rival, here it goes.

For the first time, a 2nd Division B reaches the portuguese cup final. Leixões beat 1st division Braga by an impressive 3-1! Although he didn't score, Antchouet was superb. [We definitely have to get this guy, Carlos. ;) ]

Now who's going to shut their mouths after this? But seriously, I'm very happy for them. Big feat they accomplished.

jackbooda

Youth Team
Yes, I agree, robbo2000 should join us and teach us how to play this lower division football.

**********************************
Malveira 0-0 Fc Investa

Carlos 7, Carmo 6, Elio 7, Andre 7, Niguel 6, Nuno Abreu 6, Ricardo Gomes 6, Marcelo 5, Tavares 6, Denilson 6, Amaral 5

substitutions in 2nd half- Nelsinho 7, Zeh 6, Nuno Frances 7, Diogo 7, Camarinha 6, Wilson 6, Nelson 7, Pedro Santos 7, Joao Miguel 5

We played a 5-3-2 with Carmo as sweeper and Marcelo as CM who pushed forward. My earlier concerns were justified, the offence could only manage 3 shots on goal. Marcelo was rather flat and Denilson suffered a slight injury but was able to continue.

The defence also performed as expected, holding the opposition to 2 shots of goal. Both shots were bobbled by the young keeper and had to be cleared by the fullbacks. The keeper reacted well but needs to improve his handling.

Overall evaluation- ACCEPTABLE, (but we must improve)
***********************************

INFESTA-Interesting that both our games ended in a draw. Do you see any other similarities? Also, be careful in transferring Tavares, make sure you have someone to replace him! My next game is in 7 days with Alaves B. BTW, Leixoes let me talk to Antchouet, but he refused to talk to me, said he had NO desire to leave Leixoes.

KADAR-No one has mentioned a time limit, and as slow as I am, you'll probably be ahead of me by the end of the week.:)

INFESTA

Official
Yes, Kader, I am slow too. ;)

Carlos*booda, actually I see a lot of similarities going on here. Marcelo also had a 5, Diogo, Francês, Nelson and Carlos also had sevens. The big difference is Amaral's performance. The guy had a 7 in the game against Betis B.

Oh, I forgot to tell you that I chose this nickname because I live in S.Mamede Infesta, a small 40000 inhabitants city in Oporto's outskirts. I've been an F.C. Infesta associate for 8 years now, and I swear I saw that team play some of the best football I've had the chance to witness. We were really great. I remember reading reports on the major newspapers about us having un unbelievable gameplay.

Do you know that our coach is in the guiness book of records? I'll tell you why when we get our first victory. ;)

Youth Team
no problem

ok i'm happy 2 join u but just one thing i'll b a little slow for 3reasons
1st i can't play everyday coz i have hard studies these days i'm in Engineering college and i really don't have enough time
2nd i'm having a gr8 game these days with padova in serie c1a i just got promoted 2 serieb after 2 seasons
3 i can't connect to internet everyday(i'm working on modem and my father kills me after every phone bill)
and here is some hints just like the one of contract lenght i said last post
1 when u r searching in player search the most important thing is to be sure that intersested tab is on (yes)
coz u don't have to waste ur time on players that won't join u whatever u do
2 if u r searching from find just like i do for egyptians players if aplayer don't accept for reasons like the difference in life style this is due to ur position not country there is agreat egyptian attacking midfielder in EL Ahly team called Wael Reyad value 100-150k he never came for reasons of lifestyle and just when i got promoted he accepted
3 when switching from season to season where u surely buy new players try not to change comletely the team even if ur new players r better coz it really affect on teamplay just change 2 or 3 players that was a fault i did (but if new players are hugely better 4 stars for example in comparison) u must think about it coz these players may b better than the teamwork
5 i always use comparison between players and no matter who has better skills i choose the better in the position i need i don't know if eveybody does it?
6 try to buy good coaches especially goalkeeping using interseted option
7 in signig new players if the player don't expect a special thing it's better to choose a low as u can to minimize the wages he will demand note that u mustn't choose a role that he will refuse it(u must to use ur brain due to player status)and always decrease the signing fees they want (don't worry they'll accept if u decreased a little) and finally buy any player u don't need and all of ur old players if they r not superb comparing 2 others(my average age in padova is 23 yrs, only one player over30)
coz they really takes wages that affect on financial situation which is the most important in low level teams
8 it hard to promote from the 1st season that's the big deal
and note that in 2nd season u got extra money 4 season tickets which u don't get in 1st season(don't ask me y?)
i wish i was helpful i know that maybe u know all i said but i just say what i know and when i remember anything i will write it and 4give me 4 my poor english
thank u

Aighty Baby;) I've just signed my all-time favorite CM player- Pawel Brozek:) I bought him for $400K part exchange for Carlos. I've managed to fool Wisla Krakow, and I put Carlos' value from 8K to 90K. Brozek wanted $160K a year, but we settled on 140K. I hope he feels good in Portugal, if not- oh well...I'll buy his twin brother- Piotr Brozek-he's cheap and I HEARD that after 10 seasons he's an awesome midfielder. They are both only 17 years old, so I think I made a good investment:)

I just rememberred of 2 great players from Portugal...
Postiga Helder
To Madeira
Also when I was in Fulham I signed 2 Portuguese players, I can't remember their names:mad: I will check it later and post it:)

Welcome aboard, gentlemen. KADAR, I'm glad you straightened out your software problems and congratulations on your new acquisition. Check some of the preceeding posts for good Portugese that I have NOT been able to sign.

robbo2000, thanks for the great information! Good to have you with us and don't worry, we are very slow and your experience will help you stay with us.

Picked up two more offensively minded players and was able to play both of them in the exhibition against Alaves B. Joao Paralta is a midfielder from Gouveia and Pica is a forward from U.Santiago.

**************************
Alaves B 0-0 Fc Infesta

Bruno 8, Nuno Abreu 6, Elio 8(MoM), Andre 6, Ricardo Carmo 6, Jose Tavares 6, Marcelo 6, Ricardo Gomes 7, Denilson 6, Amaral 6, Joao Paralta 7

substitutions- Nelsoninho 6, Zeh 7, Miguel 6, Nuno Frances 6 (Y@86), Cararinha 7, Wilson 7, Nelson 7, Pedro Santos 7, Pica 6

We played a 42121 in hopes of forcing the middle. I feel we succeeded, with 7 shots, but failed due to lack of accuracy, as only 2 were on target. Our mixed passing game is improving, with some good passes coming from the fullbacks.

The defence was admirable, as most of the opposition shots occured after the substituions. Bruno played brilliantly and Duarte (reserve keeper) will really have to work to unseat him.

Overall evaluation- GOOD, we deserved to win
***************************

Hey, we're undefeated!:) but we haven't won a game:(
We're unscored upon!:) but we haven't scored a goal:(

Did get bad news in that Marcelo has a foot injury and will be out for 10 days, looks as if Paralta arrived just in time. BTW, I already missed him, but a midfielder by the name of Rebelo is coming up on free transfer and you can probably get him for 2800 a month. (I'm using English pounds/month as my currency)

Anyone else having any luck getting good strikers to transfer?

I found that useful:

I've signed two players on a free- I reccomend both of them- Postiga Helder, and a Greek defender Vasilis Ioannidis he's old, but for now he'll do ;) I am also about to sign Dunga (!), Marko Pantelic, Neider Morantes, To Madeira (14K bid). Except for TO all of them are on trial. Thats a good technique- sign players on trial- it really helps in negotiating contracts! I always do dat when I want to sign a player on a free.

my first game, a little disapointed, big BLANK in midfield:( oh well, the club I played is better than the clubs in my division so I will survive;) I am also about to sign a few key players:)
one question: How much do we share with each other? like tactics, transfers, good players. I dont have a problem with sharing with u guys, as long as u do the same;)

PS> Screens I make are really poor quality becoz I compress them and they are only 20 thousand Bytes

Kader, my apologies, tovarish:) BTW, your last name amazes me, there is no way it's Polish, unless you have changed the spelling. How about emailing me the story behind it sometime.

Your team is amazing as well!
Share as much, or as little, as you wish. I'm doing this to learn the game and have fun with others as we explore and compare notes. You'll notice from my game reports that I'm sharing everything I can and trying to see if we can detect a pattern in CM's logic. Also, we can learn from each others mistakes! You know, we should have approached this as a college course and entitled this thread: BASIC CM, 101.

After spending 400k on Brozek, how did you manage to afford the rest of those players? how much is your team salary? did you sell off very many of the original team?

Were those exhibition matches already scheduled? Hugo's and mine are concentrated in Portugal and Spain, so did you arrange the Dutch matches? Why?

Well that's enough questions for one night.:)
Overall evaluation of "Kader the Manager"- VERY IMPRESSIVE;)
