Well, I'm currently trying to buy loads of players, but so far I've got Jorginho(i think thats how its spelt) and J.Williams from York, whos been playing well, but I've only played two friendlies with a 0-0 result in my first angainst Jarek(i think) and a 1-2 loss to another team(this is in 00/01).
I'm using my 2-3-2-1-2 formation, thats:

This seems to be a common trait with all of us:confused: Has anyone WON their first league game with FC Infesta?

G'Badie scored a nice goal but it was not nearly enough.

We are getting a good number of shots, but no accuracy. Heading accuracy is also very poor. I don't understand why a player like Denilson, with Finishing=18, would miss shots while unmarked.:mad: Is there another rating that better describes the players' ability to shoot accurately?

I have scheduled several friendlies (see Extra Cash thread) and Pica has been very effective. He has scored 5 goals in 3 games!:eek: So I'm definitely going to play him in our next match, the preliminary round of the Portugese Cup against Fafe.

BTW, I agree with INFESTA, Tavares' high salary was hurting the team and I sold him for 75k.

SBF, thanks for the scouting report, but it's not that easy for us. When you manage a Italian Serie A team the foreign players will gladly sign with you, but that very rarely happens when you're in Portugese Division 2B.:( In my short time with FC Infesta, I've had many players refuse to negotiate. I'm sure Mihalcea is a great player, but if he's played 8 games for his national team in Romania and plays for Dinamo Bucharest, I doubt he will come to FC Infesta in it's first year.

Romania is non-ECC, right?:confused: and I already have my quota of non-EEC players. This might be a good test for Knight Saber, to see if he can get this Romanian to sign.;)

about FC Infesta ! Well right now i'm Verona and i just made some transfers including Adriano, Beckham and Canizares and i still lose matches ! it really sucks !! for some reason i can't win !!

Finally I had some time to restart the whole thing! I already bought Ricardo Carmo and a young Sporting B DM I can't remember the name. I sold our keeper Carlos and forward Denilson. I'm trying to get rid of Bruno and Tavares.
One thing I've noticed is that players ratings change whenever you start a new game. Marcelo has even better ones, while Bruno and Carlos are now mediocre keepers.

I already played a friendly, at home, against Moreiriense (a 2nd League side), and can say I'm pretty excited with my team! We started the game winning 2-0, then I changed the whole team at halftime, then Moreirense came all the way back (2-3), but Marcelo and Nelon scored in the last 10 minutes to give us the win. A game worthy of the REAL FC Infesta.
Btw, FC Infesta is traditionally the best scoring team of ALL the national championships, so get those attacking instructions working! ;)

I've adopted Dave H's tactics, with 3 central defenders and 5 midfielders. It seems to work pretty well indeed!


Zambrotta emailed me, asking to join the competition, which means that hopefully we'll have another participant very soon! :)

As you can see, I made some early rookie mistakes, but now we have some left side players.
I thought Portugal had some sort of arrangement with Brazil about their players not being considered foreign, that's why I chose to include them in my database. That was a mistake, I now have 3 Brazilians (plus 1 from I.Coast)on my team and have reached my limit of non-ECC players. I'm trying to transfer one of the Brazilians, but no luck so far.:(

Interesting note about players ratings changing from game to game. Maybe that's why one person's recommendation of a certain player doesn't always look good to someone else, because if you compare them, the numbers are different!;)

FC Infesta ADVANCE in CUP THRILLER!!

Mauro Dias scored his first goal for Infesta in the first half and it looked as if it would be enough. However, in the 86th minute the Fafe team scored a rebound goal. Two minutes later Marcelo laid down a through pass which Pica pounded into the upper corner! On to the Cup!:D

Two days later, Lowden and Nelson scored in front of 1900 fans as our heroes gained a 2-1 friendly victory over Alaves B of the Spanish League.

And to complete this exciting week of football, our heroes travelled to Vila Real. G'Badie scored quickly, but then disaster struck. The GK, Bruno, was injured, and the rookie manager had not brought a substitute keeper!:rolleyes: Elio, due to his good positioning and great reflexes, was pressed into service. His inexperience became quickly evident as VR scored two easy goals.:( A substitution and some tactical changes at the half stiffened the defence and soon afterwards Pica took a Paralta pass and scored the equaliser. The tough defensive posture proved too much for the referee, and he awarded the home team a penalty in the 62nd minute. Elio stood no chance. But our heroes would not die! They switched to an all out attack and forced the ball downfield. Finally, in the 81st, Marcelo lobbed to G'Badie who pushed forward and laid off to, who else, PICA! Pica scored his second equaliser of the day.:) The manager was happy to come away with a point.

Well, now you know what I've been doing this evening!

Seems like wwe already have one thng in common: game thrillers! :)
I completed my pre-season games with 3 victories, the first two being against clubs from the Second League! And what a match those were! I've talked about the first game already, let me just say that in the second (against Leça) we were losing untl the 84th minute of play. Nelson and that guy I bought from Sporting B turned things around and gave us a magnific win!
The last pre-season game was played against a 2nd B side and I can only say that we crushed them! FIVE goals without answer!!!

Nelson has been the most valuable player so far. He got a hat-trick on this game and scored a couple on previous matches. I was thinking about purchasing another forward, but now I'm not sure...
I've also had good performances by Miguel, Lowden, Pedro Nuno, and Amaral. I can say that the team is far better than what I expected initially. :)

I also bought Carmo and sold Nuno and Tavares. To answer your question, I sold the veteran for 25 000 contos -> that's...uh...144k.


From I've seen so far, CM could be improved in the following department.
Portugal DOES have a protocol with Brazil. This is what happens: brazilian players come here and shortly after they are no longer regarded as foreigners. All it takes is paper work and a semi-obscure portuguese relative (usualy a great-grandfather or a new found wife ;) )
Please check the first league clubs and the status of their brazilian players.
