Rofl this is Portugal, not Germany where Bayern buys players from all the top contenders (Hamburg, Werder Bremen, Leverkusen). In Portugal if they made these kind of deals, there would be burned cars, riots etc etc :jambo:
About Zé Castro, i don´t really question his ability, the problem is that he is experiencing a slump in his form. The circunstancies don´t help either. Académica is in turmoil (president affair, lack of support for Nelo Vingada), facing relegation, the extreme pressure the team is facing. We can´t forget all the amazing matches he made against the big 3 and in our U-21 Nt. As much as it pains me to say this, he really needs to move on in order to continue his evolution.

Paulo Da Silva

Starting XI
Vinnie you are definealy right, but going to a team like At Madrid would definately hurt his future. Atletico has two of the better CB in Spain (both will be going to the WC i believe).

I think Ze Castro will be a big player in the future. I believe he should go to a club like Braga. they have european ambitions and i belive that they are a sleeping giant, that with a couple of great signings that they can compete for a CL spot of not the league in 2-3 years (i would like to see that) In braga he can play in a more secure team and a team that he would 90% start every game. after 2-3 seasons he may be ready to move.

Joao Paulo i feel is ready for a big move. He wasn't ready when he went to Sporting as he was like 20-21 and very young. but hes had a great season and would be a great addition to the team and would add a whole lot of depth and would suit Co's system perfectly.

About Ze Catro, i say we sign him and loan him out to Braga or Boavista for a season or two.

now about those that will leave.

Benni- i've always said that a motivated benni Mac is easily the best striker in Portugal, by FAR. some may disagree but that is my opinion. however, he wants to move on and if we get the 6 million some clubs have offered we should DEFINATELY SELL him.

Diego- all the talent in the world, but his dad(agent) is/will ruin his career. The minute his idiot dad came in he was gone from the team. Diego can fit in this tactic, however maybe we should loan him out. he;s only 20 for god sakes. Deco only began to play amazing when he was 23-24. Unfortunately we will sell him and that life. as long as we get what we invested in him its all good

Postiga- I dont know but i like this guy. he is just a super dick who needs to begin to work hard. Something tells me he will come back next year and he will be back to the old promising Postiga. He would fit percetly into this tactic.

for example:

our mid field and forwards can play like this:

------------------Assuncao---Meirelles-----------------------
Quaresma-----------------Lucho---------------any left winger
---------------------------------Postiga---------------------
---------------------Adriano---------------------------------

in this tactic Postiga's job is not to score and that could relieve some pressure off the guy. Everybody knows that Adriano is the finisher and Postiga could work pretty damn well as a target man who makes room for Adriano to score. you know he can draw some defenders away for the pure striker.

anyway i'm dreaming and he WILL BE SOLD TO ST.ETTIENE

ONE MORE THING

PLZ DO NOT SELL LUCHO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PdC has confirmed two deals:
Diogo Valente has already signed, and Adriano will remain in the squad under a permanent deal now.

It's not sure Valente will be part of the first team next season though.
many people don't like him, but I rate him high enough to be happy with the deal.
He's still very young and I see him as a good prospect for the future, let's just hope Porto can help him grow as a footballer.

On another note, he said the club's not interested in Miguelito, or in Saganowski.
But when it comes to football transfers, you never now what might happen :brow:

Like Funky, I've seen Diogo play live a lot. Like Funky, I'm not particularly impressed. He's not a bad player, but there's nothing in him that makes for FCP material: not fast enough to run past opponents (like Douala or Simão); not technical enough to dribble them every time (like Quaresma or Cristiano); doesn't have superb set-pieces skills (like Simão); crosses well but I've seen its share of crosses end in the Panteras Negras 'bancada'...
He's like a sum of slightly above average traits of everything I mentioned.
Now sure he can evolve - although he's not getting any faster - and that depends on his work-ethic. Thing is, he spent half year benched so that must have only hurt him.
I bet he'll play more for Porto B, at least for next season.

About Liedson: Massive, we're talking about a club that sold Quaresma, Cristiano, Figo, Simão, etc. for relatively small amounts of cash, because they were desperately needing it. Well, they need it even more now; it's either sell one of their golden rings or start selling their own fingers (especially now since they elected this president).
I think SCP would never refuse 7,5M€ for Liedson. And if they do refuse that offer? We buy him out and pay the release clause. Worth every cent.

About Saga: he'll have a great chance this weekend. If he scores against us or at least leaves an impressive footprint at the Dragão he can win over PdC. It's all on Sga's shoulders - as it should be.

Saganowski is a good player but he's a pure finisher like Adriano. In theory you need someone that can hold the ball better and create game for himself, not just finish the plays.

Anyway he'll be sold cheap if Guima goes down.

The thing is that those players weren't sold to Porto, or Benfica, or lets say to a rival portuguese team.
3 of those went to Barça, 1 to ManU.....they sold them to football giants, and it would be almost a crime to keep those players from getting such a chance.

Like Vinnie said, those kind of deals at least between the big 3 would never be possible here in Portugal. the fans would go freakin nuts.
The only friendly deals I can remember of were those trades envolving Rui Jorge, Bino, Ricardo Fernandes, Peixe..........players who were way past their best years (maybe except for R. Fernandes, but we all know what a fluke he came to be)

But you did mention the release clause issue, and that is the only way I'd see Liedson trading Sporting for Porto. I don't know its value, but if it's around those 7.5 million € I agree we should pay it before anyone else does.

Agreed....that's why I f'cking want Miccoli to join us, he's that kind of player (Y)(H)

Lisandro and Miccolli are very similar players. Lisandro is class and Micolli is very injury prone, but is even more class than Lisandro.

Lisandro will play more next season and i feel he'll explode

Quite happy with the team right now. Last game's Ibson's disallowed goal was beautiful. Lucho's vision and Ibson's shot were wonderful indeed.

The only thing i'm uncomfortable with is Diego. If everyone could just shake hands and live happy in the club i'd be so freakin glad.

Anyway, i believe we'll make a super campaign in next year's Champions League. We only need to get rid of some mediocre players we somehow still have (cough Bruno Alves cough). A top club is supposed to have top players.

Liedson would be great for us. How much is his release clause btw?

Joao Paulo is a good signing but Diogo Valente is the kind of player that...well, Infesta said it all.

From the 1st team squad, i'd immediately replace Alan, Alves and Ricardo Costa. I'd also be very unsure about Sokota and Moraes as they haven't done shiat for the club yet. Benni and Postiga are only welcome if they committ to work hard and show some respect for the club.

Btw, benni's belly might be quite amusing but it certainly isn't the kind of thing to expect in a team that is supposed to be one of Europe's top clubs. C'mon, am i asking too much?
When a football player, who gets paid i don't know how many thousands of euros a month, who's in a G-14 club, doesn't even work enough to lose his freakin Santa's belly, i tend to become pissed off.
He must think he's in Dubai, playing to amuse himself, and still getting a big fat paycheck.
And i somehow like him, otherwise i'd be really furious. If he wants to keep his recent attitude i wish him all luck in any club but mine.

I agree with that. I also like him, besides we all know he's a good striker and can score a lot of goals if he puts his mind to it, but he spent the last year with one thing in mind: move to England. So go, modafoca, go. :ewan:

yeah I won't miss Diego aswell: it's not like he didn't have the chances to grab a spot on the team, so he can f'ck off to Germany at will.

now Lucho.....that would be a great loss :(

Diego was a hyped player that'll never be more than a Roger. I'm sure he'll do fine in Brazil, once he gets shipped back at the end of next season.
His problem is: he's slow; pretty decent technically but not anywhere near a level that allows him to dribble past other midfielders or defenders (unlike Deco); he doesn't control the flow of the game. Now these are all things that you can't be taught. You either have it or you don't, and Diego hasn't. The recipe for disaster.
On top of that, he's poor tactically and has a father with a big mouth. Finally, he spent the last 2 years - the crucial years for the development of a young player - benched, and rightly so, btw.

I hope we get good money for this kid.

I read we're getting back the 7 million € we paid for him, the deal took too long to be closed because Bremen was only offering 6 million which wasn't good enough to PdC :)
