yeah, I'd still take either one of them over Rui Patrício though.

I dont know, Rui Patricio is still yong and still has years to be one of the best, but Helton is almost old, and if he suffers one or two goals, his head explode, like in the game of Atletico Madrid

What the **** are you on about? Tiago better than Nuno? Are you serious? And "head explode"? You mean the mistake that he had at Madrid, which lead him improve and after that he made the best performance of the season against United? There's a difference between club bias and ignorance, you know?

Helton already made many mistakes, and he has 31 years old, in this time, he should not make many mistakes, he made aainst Benfica, Atletico Madrid, yes against Man Utd he made a good perfomance, but also Patricio made it too against them on the other season.

So the Cissokho deal is off, kind of cool for us anyway...we'd been looking for a truly good LB since 2004 and now that we found him I hope we keep him for a couple of seasons...unless another massive fee is offered meanwhile (H) Next year's CL might even help increase his value depending on how the team and himself perform.

Lisandro allegedly accepted an offer from Lyon, it's up to the clubs to reach an agreement now...wtf is he doing wanting to go to France, it's not even a step forward in his career :willis:

also Lucho's agent claims Real Madrid are chasing him, hopefully we ask too damn much for the player and he stays put :(

A few updates on team news:

- Pedro Emanuel will coach the U-17 squad. Cool.

- seems like Madrid is staying in the squad after all...hopefully he picks up the form he showed two seasons ago before the injury.

- Ventura and Rabiola going to Olhanense on loan...good move for both as they need to play in order to develop their football.

- Espanyol's Luís Garcia and Joffre Guerrón from Getafe have been linked with us in the past few days...
tbh I haven't seen Garcia much the last couple of seasons. Don't know how much they're asking for him but anyhthing over €5M for a 28 year-old would be pushing it...
about Guerrón, I seriously hope he stays away from us. Dude has pace and a lot of heart but his composure on the ball is weak and he tends to **** up the simplest of moves.
I watched him play several times at the Libertadores last year when he was still at LDU Quito...definitely NOT Porto material IMHO.

- Lucho keeps being linked with Real, seems like he's the player Valdano wants in case they can't get Xabi Alonso...inclusively I read there was a meeting scheduled between the Marseille board and ours to discuss a possible move but since the Real interest came up the meeting got postponed...either way our president was only showing up for a matter of courtesy since the €14M offer they were rumoured to be carrying is far from being enough.
I still think and hope El Comandante's going nowhere...

Well, all I can do now accept he's gone :(
€18M deal with Marseille, fee that might be increased to €24M depending on Marseille's ability to clinch some silverware during Lucho's spell with them.
4 year contract pending on medicals.

Now we simply have to look for a solution to replace him that is not on our current squad, the names will start pounding in the press and I just hope we chose wisely. The #8 spot is crucial in our game plan so we have to be careful not to throw some random dude in there...I'd go for Tiago from Juventus in a blink of an eye, he'd fit perfectly to our midfield. And he's being rumoured too... :browsmiley:

Other rumours:

We might be going after Jonàs Gutierrez from The Toon.
Don't know how much he'd cost but shouldn't be too expensive considering they were relegated...he's a NT player though so it won't be easy to sign him since there must be a lot of interested teams in him.
It'd be a great signing if you ask me, dude is a hard worker and dispite his somewhat clumsy style is a really effective winger.

Culio (Cluj), Fórmica (Newell's Old Boys), Buonanotte + Falcao (River Plate), Pastore (Huracán) are also being linked with us. Appart from the River duo I don't know much about them...

Bruno Alves is set for Barça, I don't have many doubts left about his departure.
Press is claiming they are offering a cash+player deal, with Henrique or Keirrison on the top of the table.
Give us €20M + Keirrison and they have a deal :coffe-anim:

Now I'm just hoping we can keep Licha, it'd be kind of brutal to lose such a key-player trio...although we usually manage to overcome selling our best players year in year out it always hurts to see them leave.

I read wonders about Pastore, including from Lucho himself.
Seems like Huracán were asking a lot for him, do you know how much Palermo payed?

Guess we'll have to look elsewhere then...I still say Tiago.

He's an established player, things didn't go well for him abroad but I've always liked his game since his Braga and then Benfica days.
He just needs the proper motivation and Porto can give him that, playing time and high level football.

Massive, what Tiago are you referring to? I don't know cause in Portugal there are tons of Tiagos :D

You know this year when we lost the CL quarter-final because Lucho got injured at the Dragão? Well we might just lose the league now that he's gone. I hope not, though.

I don't know (or care), but unless Porto buys 2 or 3 really really good players, this season's team seems to be much weaker than last season's.

It's a very nice policy to buy a bunch of young portuguese players, but, let's be honest, what did Orlando Sá or Varela (dismissed by Sporting, remember?) did to deserve to play for Porto?

Unless you bought these players to continue your usual policy of loaning 2 or 3 players to almost every team of the league, but that's a different story...

every single season a couple of key players leaves our squad to sign millionaire contracts, there's not much we can do about it...but the truth is that we always manage to sub them well enough to keep the team winning so I'm not worried at all.

yeah he should be a good addition for us and a solid sub for Lucho, we were after him since last year but Olympiakos made a higher offer to River then...weird thing is that they're now selling him cheaper to us 8|

I was looking forward into getting Gustavo Colman, what a beast of a player he is...don't know how much Trabzonspor are asking for him though.
