Yeah he may have grown up in Italy okay okay.. That's besides the point.

It's just that he seems to think that clubs like Roma and Napoli would have stood a chance at signing him. Even huge wages wouldn't have tempted him. I might come off as a Serie A loathing asshole to you, but it's a fact that getting Thiago would have been/and is a pipe dream for those teams.

Better chance than the sinking ship of United

:D Well during last summer it was not a certainty that we were going to sink the way we did. I'm not Thiago's spokesperson, but i believe he would have moved to United, or at least to some other EPL club instead of Serie A teams mentioned by Xifio.

Look, this argument is leading nowhere. The guy is a Bayern player and will stay that way, for some time at least. He'll retire at Milan or Inter a decade from now.

All of this has nothing to do with Porto and our crazy GK policy. Navas is linked with us, which would make him what, our 100th GK in 3 years or something?

First post updated with latest transfers and squad adjustments, also the pre-season schedule.
Still waiting for "cleaner" kit pics...

Our next Fernando?
Still raw but has huge potential.

It was pretty fucking certain to anyone who paid attention and saw the way the winds were blowing the past 3-4 years. Manchester United has been in decline for awhile. You chose to ignore reality even when Athletic Bilbao was kicking the shit out of you at Old Trafford in the fucking Europa League.

Thiago is FROM ITALY. Italian teams still qualify for the Champions League despite what you think. Why the fuck would he choose Manchester United?

True, United have been in decline for the past 3 or 4 years like you said, but i don't think a lot of people saw us finishing 7th, although some were joking about it.
And about those Bilbao matches, they were playing great that season, and yes they were the better team by miles. But something tells me that SAF didn't really care about the Europa League. Our title race in the EPL with City was pretty tight back then, and those games on Thursday evenings were a distraction. At least i didn't lose any sleep over getting knocked out, gotta give Bilbao credit though, they played their hearts out and were the better team.

I don't care about his Italian roots.. Why would he choose Man Utd? First of all we lacked a quality midfielder and he is the kind of player who could make a team tick. The last central midfielder we signed was in 2007, Hargreaves. We all know how that turned out. Anderson a year later, but he was forced to play box to box instead of his natural position and has been riddled with injuries. Thiago was looking for playing time which he wasn't getting at Barcelona. He would've been an automatic starter, and with him in the midfield things might have actually turned out differently last season. Maybe Moyes would still be in charge though, so thank god for that at least.
But i'm not your typical "what-if" guy, so i'll leave it at that. I read some articles (not too long ago) which said that Giggs had some say in the matter, thinking Thiago wouldn't suit us, so he was never really an important target in the eyes of the ... err.. management?

Also EPL is way superior league to Serie A. Same can be said about Utd being better than Milan, Inter etc.. I'm not going to mention Roma or Napoli right now, but do you really think he would have chosen one of those teams over United last summer? And i've already talked about Juve.
I believe i've made my points.

If you want to continue this discussion (i don't :D) then reply in the utd thread. I don't want to anger the Porto fans. This is a wrong thread afterall. I believe everything has been said already.

Mikel broke his leg today, on the FIRST training of the season. So pretty much game over for "our next Fernando". We urgently need a solid, very solid DM.

I'm really excited about Oliver, pretty sure both him and Herrera will be part of our starting midfield. A DM is what we need now, to compose that sector.

First official day of the 2014/2015 season for us today, really looking forward to the pre-season matches. A lot of new players to observe, and of course Lopetegui.

PdC confirmed Rolando is back, and staying. I think that's great news for us, Rolando-Indi is bound to be a fantastic CB duo.

WTF!! Didn't know about that, feel really sorry for the kid.
We still needed to buy a DM anyway, someone who can establish himself immediatly in the first team...wasn't gonna be Mikel, not this soon.

I've heard he had a problem with Antero, apparently settled now. The make-up sex must've been disgustingly awesome.

Oliver, Herrera and Quintero is a so much class together, only if Lopetegui get them to perfom...

Those 3 can play together in the League maybe, mostly in home matches.
Fielding that midfield in the CL would be suicidal.

Even with Quintero as winger like James Rodriguez?

--------------DM-----------------
----Herrera---------Oliver----
Quintero---Carlos*son------Tello

He's been tried there, didn't work. Different coach now though, so who knows.

Quaresma is good enough to be a starter for us, no need to have Quintero adapted to the wing. Maybe Lope can try it once and again, but he belongs in the middle.

With Tello so near we now have to worry about getting that DM.
Also I don't believe Carlos*son will stay, so a solid striker is another concern...still many to changes to come.
