I don't know if you will like my suggestion, but Vasco had a great team also in the 40's, with Ademir de Menezes, Barbosa, Friaça, Augusto, Danilo etc, all players that were part of the Brazilian team that was runner-up at the 1950 FIFA World Cup. This Vasco team even defeated Di Stefano's River Plate at the Campeonato Sul-Americano de Campeões (South American Tournament of Champions) in 1948, a tournament that was even the kick-off for the creation of the European Cup some years later.
