FIFA 14 - First Details

Of course they make more money from the PC version. The PC version is the most customizable version of the game. And another reason is that people rather buy a PC than a game console. At least in my country, that's happening.

I would bet that console sales of FIFA outnumber PC sales by 20 to 1 at least. So no, EA would make much more money on the console version than the PC version.

EDIT: VGChart FIFA 13 sales:

PS3: Global sales = 6,290,000
360: Global sales = 4,750,000
PC: Global sales = 270,000

That's a 40 to 1 difference between console and PC sales, not even taking into account in other consoles (Wii etc).

Looks like they are waiting until next year, yes. Whereas Konami has already released next-gen info about PES 2014. This won't hurt EA though, they're so far ahead in the sales war with Konami that they can wait until next year.

Its about milking the cow till its old, (nobody buys a new car year after year). I know EA can, but they won`t. The B.O.D`s and shareholders come first, then us. They are doing this for a long long time, they are professionals who get paid to do so. It`ll be an incremental change like last year, just hope a little more than last. Yes, most likely Fifa 15 will be nextgen, can`t say the same for Fifa World Cup. They piss on the modding community every year with the limitations (hence the term professionals). Anyways, it makes sense to improve the game engine every year, rather than coming up with a brand new engine with a lot of bugs, plus I wrote a letter to EA so that I could save some money for my upgrade for Fifa 15 nextgen with Frostbite 3, 3d crowds with 3d flares and 3d bottles, with real blood effects its gonna be awesome, can`t wait.

Wow had no idea the game sold so little on PC.. I hope to god we don't get stuck in that situation like 07-10 when they were releasing ps2 ports on PC and next-gen versions on 360 and PS3, that would suck so much, especially when some of us have PCs that are stronger than a PS4.

From what i have read its not going to be next gen until 15 and 14 will be generic graphical updates (faces and kits) and the focus is about updating current standing 13 features.

So, in some ways its 13.5 and if you want next gen skip a year. I laugh at the fact they have pre orders already set based on such flimsy details, if they ask the same full asking price this year (they will) then its definitely time to search those physical copy bargains again.

Translation: We visited the soccergaming.com site and saw what modders like AndreaPirlo, Fidel, Paul and regularcat did to vastly improve our crappy default gameplay. So we spent a couple days incorporating all their player ratings and product file tweaks into FIFA 14, and then called it "NEW FEATURES!"

No way, they cant even match them with thier own work Plus if you dig into interviews theres no confirmation of slowing down gameplay, just bolting in features like second tackle and ball protection so "you as a player can decide the gameplay" ... which is effectively ... its the same as before vanilla and you do the work to get it how you want.

True from 2004 I skipped fifa and football game until 12/13 when I noticed the graphics were up to speed with console. Thing is they put allot of support to PC this year we got patches before consoles and tripple head/dual support, so its seems odd to then go back to that trend. The jump this time round is so much that I think the gap between the two would be fatal for them to keep PC back in "old graphics" land.

I'll buy PES the day they finally put out a game that isn't completely broken out of the box. Default FIFA is pretty bad but at least it's playable, unlike PES.

3D crowed fully, updated shaders, double the texture res or more, increased LOD of everything incl' nets, particle support, updated physics support and .. everything .... just something that utilised full DX11 features, dynamic weather and all the shading and lighting that goes with it.

Simply put, something that looks more human and lifelike through the engine with enhanced skeleton anim, clothing physics support that kills your PC so its unplayable

Next Gen is mainly term vie console lifespan, but in terms of PC we are already in that realm with newest hardware, just takes software houses to pay for the engine updates and support it with all the financial and red tape that goes with it in business.

You`re gonna have to wait for a long time. Glad to hear that you`re gonna stay with us playing Fifa, maybe a GP mod next year for Fifa 13 beta (unreleased version), Fifa 13.5 or Fifa 14 Pre-Gen. (depending on your perspective)

What we referred to as 'next-gen' 3 years ago(and initially 8 years ago) is no longer next-gen, there's a new generation of consoles due out in 2013 that will kick off the new 'next-gen'.

I'm confused. What do my game settings and feelings about FIFA's default gameplay have to do with discussions about how many PC units are sold each year?

I do play on manual, and I expect sports video games to realistically simulate the actual sport. FIFA needs heavy modding to accomplish that, but I do recognize that even the default gameplay can be fun in its way. I'm just glad we have a game we can mod on the PC to suit everyone's tastes. And hopefully EA continues to produce a PC version with next-gen. They've stopped making PC versions of their hockey and football games, so who knows if we'll still have a PC version of FIFA in a year or two.

We can talk about PES flaws a lot, but PES 2013 in terms of gameplay improvements is in front of FIFA 13 big time, and I mean by default gameplay, no tweaks or mods. I dont care if PES dont have licensed Leagues, Teams etc., cause from gameplay aspect PES 2013 > FIFA 13. I hope PES will continue to make significant changes cause that might push EA to improve their game also, if they even care about improving the gameplay, not the budget. Dont get me wrong here, I'm no fanboy of either of these games. I speak from neutral position.
