FIFA 2002's Revolutionary Passing Sytem

I enjoy FIFA 2002, but what's this nonsense about "a new, revolutionary passing system?" Am I the only one who thinks this is exactly the same "revolutionary passing system" found in FIFA 97, and then purposely left out of the FIFA sequels?

I would've been perfectly happy buying this game, but the fact that they boasted about the passing really got my hopes up really high.

As to why they left out the Asian, Oceanic and African region is beyond me - I mean, it's not like there's a World Cup coming up or anything. Also, I'm glad they left Japan out of the selections considering that they've been automatic contenders since 1998 - but then again, it's not like the World Cup is gonna be in Japan or anything. But thank God they put Albania in there! That's a really strong soccer country known for its soccer prowess.

what goes around, comes around...

I agree that it was a terrible score in Munich, but don't forget the Germans beat the English IN England the previous match. Besides, it's an old quote, and the Germans will probably always have the upperhand against England.

tru that

I guess my old PSX sucks then. My PC can't keep up with the resolution in FIFA past FIFA 99 so my version is, in fact, the PSX version which leaves out Asia, Oceania and Africa. How depressing is that?

Anyways, I'm still of the opinion that FIFA 97's passing system is nearly identical to the "revolutionary passing system" of FIFA 2002 - if you don't believe me, you can probably get a copy of FIFA 97 for 50 cents.

Australian-Croat

Hey man, that was so long ago, but anyone who saw that game knows the referee was obviously a product of the Euro 96 hatred of the Germans for winning (especially considering that Croatia was dispatched in similiar fashion when a Croat was sent off the pitch for no apparent reason) - if you remember correctly, that foul call was a terrible one and it probably only deserved a yellow (if even) - because as was pointed out, Woerns wasn't the last defender when he tripped that drama-queen-Croat - also, throughout that game, Croatia shamed itself by constant diving, and also made worse tackles against the Germans which the referee didn't even issue a warning...(before Germany lost Woerns, the Croats were totally on the ropes - no lie)...

In any case, Germany's in the World Cup, and someone else isn't =)

Why do these always turn into Football debates rather than FIFA 2002.

Discuss this at the Soccer Forum, its annoying coming to the FIFA forum and getting more and more post about Soccer.

Let the drama out of here mate, I'm a Croat, whos studying in Australia, so it's Just CROAT.

Worns was the last defender, 12 different camera angles confirmed it, and the contact was blatant and inescusable, he didn't even complain, just walked out. And then the barage, 3-0 !!!

The Creoatian game was one of sitting back in the forst 20 minutes, and then attacking, this is the way we came third in our First world cup, and fifth in our first European cup.

DEUTSCHLAND, DEUTSCHLAND AUFWEITERSEHEN !!

ps. I don't know who had to go through playoffs, and who won their group with no losses and the best defense in Europe

Oh come off it, Croat.

12 camera angles confirmed he was the last defender??? I can't remember who the other defender was (Kohler probably), but he was standing much behind the two before there was contact - and it only took 3 decent angles to show there was, indeed, another defender behind them - and by the way, that wasn't any "blatant" foul. I have the tape, and have watched it several times, and the Croats did harsher things throughout the game (not to mention Suker's constant diving) , but as was said, the referee just waived it off whenever a German player was struck or tripped down (complaining about the referee's inconsistencies is a common theme, and there's a reason for that obviously)...

And no, Woerns didn't complain, he was shocked! But half of the German Mannschaft certainly had a word with the referee - and what was that nonsense about giving Klinsmann a yellow card for talking to the ref? Even worse, the Croatian unsportsmanship in the game was horrendous - there was a moment when a German player was injured, so the Germans kicked the ball out, and what did the Croatians do? They threw the ball back immediately into play, and didn't let the ref check out the injured player...they continued to play the ball despite whistles from the crowd...if that's your idea of Croatian soccer, then your team did the world a favour by failing to qualify for the WC.

Watch that game again - better yet, watch it with someone who's neutral - and you'll see the difference in treatment that the referee showed the Croatians as opposed to how he treated the Germans. That, my friend, is blatant.

And, it's "auf wiedersehen" - as in, what happened to Croatia in 2002?

(p.s. that's hilarious hearing you preach on about Croatia's strategy defending for the first 20 minutes - it's funny since they had no choice - if your idea of defending is to let Bierhoff take potshots at your keeper for 20 minutes then I think it's time for you to invest in some Sun Tzu - but luckily, Woerns' departure tipped the scales unbelievably - so, if you will, add "faking injuries so that it's 11-10" to your Croatian book of strategies)

Oh no, Germany and Croatia are going to war!!!

BTW did any hear that Goran Ivanisevic got called up for National Service (the defence force) for Croatia, he wont need a gun, just give him a raquet and a couple of balls and say goodbye to the opposition.

Goran

Ivanicivic and Kucoc (from the NBA) are the only good things to come out of Croatia athletically. Hey, I didn't hear about Goran being called up, but I think he should let Sucker, oops, I meant Suker, take his place - maybe then, Sucker can learn how to play like a man.

Voltaire,

Croatia's strategy sent off the Germans, the Romanians and the Dutch, The Danish and the Italians to name a few. For a country of 4 million, that's quite an acievment.

And, it's "auf wiedersehen" - as in, what happened to Croatia in 2002?

You idiot, do you think Croatia didn't make it to this world cup? We got there as first in our group, with the best defensive record in Europe, Germany conceded from Albania and Finland than Croatia in all her qualifiers. Do you watch football? Do you read anything? Obviosly not, you have no idea about the countries even playing in the WC, you must live in acave or something mate.

Heres the group for ya.

Group 6

CROATIA 8 5 3 0 15 2 18
Belgium 8 5 2 1 25 6 17
Scotland 8 4 3 1 12 6 15
