Oh, and since you corrected my spelling mr. German, it's IVANISEVIC and KUKOC, get it right mate, you're looking more and more foolish. Did you check out Europe's first 9 qualifiers there mate? How do you feel now?

A right wally is my guess, get your facts straight Voltron.

Oh sorry, I keep getting Euro 2000 confused with WC...

Anyways, theCro, you really make your country look bad. First off, you're the one who brought up the game - 2nd off, I argued it wasn't fair, but then you start argueing by hurling insults at me...I think there's a fine difference between you and me - whereas, you started the arguement, I continued it, then you start calling me "idiot?" I don't blame you for your insecurity - at least I don't have to fear for my life in my own country...

Well, good luck growing up.

Displays well your ignorance, and your lack of knowledge about football related matters. You little catch phrase started it, which is arrogant in itself, and all I said, is that last time around, a country with less people that Germany has registered players, beat the stuff out you.

Thanks for admitting you're wrong mate.

Fear for my life? You are an idiot, and a poorly spoken one at that. Ask the thousands of German tourists which country they holiday in, they'll tell you there's nothing to fear.

BTW did any hear that Goran Ivanisevic got called up for National Service (the defence force) for Croatia, he wont need a gun, just give him a raquet and a couple of balls and say goodbye to the opposition.

and why don't you discuss that in a tennis forum, as this forum is strictly about FIFA 2002 as you stressed out a couple of posts earlier....

Ignorance, Croat? Well, I might've been guilty about mistaking Croatia's World Cup Qualifyers, but I'm making no illusions about Croatia in 1998 - if you would, watch that match between Germany and Croatia one more time, and you tell me who had the distinctive edge before the Red Card.

And no, I have a quote here from an British sportsman commentating on the German team of the its hayday - but look at all the other "little catch phrases" here - I'd say about 100% of them promote the national team or club team they support. Listen, I do not mind if England thrashes Germany 5-1 because that game had no interference by the referee; but the Croatia match smelled...if you don't believe that, I think you're letting your nationalism cloud your thinking...

Also, what does Population have to do with it? Was that just another attempt for you to proclaim Croatia's "superiority?" If you look at China and the US, they have pretty big populations as well - why are they not winning the World Cup? Oh, I can answer that: soccer isn't war - in soccer, you can only field 11 players per side - and in 1998 France, it was only 10 Germans against 11 Croats.

let go dude....

croatia won that game back then and as painful as it was for many of us -- to blame it on the referee makes you a sore loser ... einen wirklich schlechten verlierer... you know very well that Deutschland had its fair share of calls in her favor... that penalty call in the 90s final for example.... hmhhhh...

anyway, it's a long time ago... germany is at the world cup... croatia is at the world cup as well... and look at the upside... suker is playing for 1860 München (his last chance to go to the WC, i guess, or does our croatian friend here think otherwise?)... times have changed indeed...

laß mal gut sein jetzt...

Tonmol, I have been trying to let go for many years, so when theCro brought it up just because of my sig line, I was somewhat defensive - I didn't exactly start blurting out "Germany should've beat Croatia in 98"; not until theCro brought the game up anyways...so, I might be a sore loser, but I didn't mention that game until theCro did...so, I hope this is the last we'll hear of it...

one more thing

Tonmol, also in '94 there was an incident when the Mannschaft defeated Belgium in which one of their players was nailed by German defenders and was given no penalty for it - so, although I was pleased with the result, I wouldn't go around saying "Germany spanked Belgium in '94."

And no, as I've said, I don't mind if Germany loses 5-1 against England or anyone else - because in a game like that, it was pure soccer without stupid referee mistakes - but in France 98, there was severe refereeing mistakes in favour of Croatia which gave the Croatians an extra man to play with - so, I hope that tells you where I stand: if someone brings up that game, I'll be pissed and will argue in defense of Germany - but if people don't bring it up, I won't have anything to be pissed off about. Do you get me?

Man, will you get over yourself. Resorting to petty insults and biased views of the game will not change a thing. Woerns was, as the camera angles confirmed, and Martin Tyler admitted while commentating, the last man, and a foul like that does not belong in International football. He made no attempt to play the ball, and was justly sent off. The result was 3-0, if it was 1-0 or 2-1 I'd understand. But 3 is a little big for you to argue.

So just let it go, I'm sure you can give credit where credit's due and admit that a 3-0 blowout in a quaterfinal is a great result.

And this whole little tizzy you're throwing was infact instigated by yourself, after my little joke how germans always win, unless Croatians are at the other goal. You could have just laughed it off, but no. Yopu have to come back with misinformed opinions and blatant falsehoods, which further confirms that you know nothing about football. And it further confirms your charestirstic of speaking about something you know absolutely nothing about, at least check your sources, this way you look rather foolish.

Take it easy.

sorry, theCro, but I won't accept late assignments...you see, I was the one who was trying to argue in defense of Germany intelligently, but you simply retorted my views by calling me a dumbass and an idiot, and didn't even bother to refute what I had said...

And if what you say is true, then why would Berti Vogts, Andreas Koepke, Woerns, and whoever else was out there being arguing there was indeed another defender deeper behind Woerns and the Croat...and the fact that you say Woerns made no attempt to play the ball is absurd - I call it a mistackle in which the Croat displayed just what a terrible actor he'd make, and just what a biased referee was brought to that match...

And no, how could I just laugh off what you said? I'll tell you right now that the Germany-Croatia game (and another game along time ago against England) is the only game I couldn't laugh at - sure, you can rub in an American victory over Germany 3-0, a Brazilian victory over Germany 5-0, or an English victory recently over the Germans by a score of 5-1, and I'd laugh those scores with you because the Germans had no excuse - but you happened to mention a game that was very emotionally disturbing to me - a game in which I truly believe the referee was biased - I might be a sore loser, but you are definitely a sore winner, and you are the one who brought up the issue - and don't you dare say I'm the one who started insulting you - you're the one who resorted to name-calling just because I believed Germany was treated poorly in that match - and no, I am certainly not ignorant as you claim me to be - as to why you're so intolerant of others is beyond me, but I assume you'll grow out of it, little buddy.

And yes, I won't doubt that a 3-0 victory is a huge success, but I won't argue that Croatia beat Germany at its best - I can tell you right now that 11 players against 10 players is a slightly uneven match - do you doubt the merit of that arguement?

you need to relax too, my friend... after all you were the one pulling insults into this discussion in the first place....

this game is more than 3 years ago and you still seem to have wet dreams about it... tell me: anything else happening in the world ever since???

yes, it was a great victory.. but calling it a "blowout"... please...especially when it was 11 against 10, with one of the most important players on the german side expelled.... that's pretty lame... 1-5 on home turf is a blowout, and even the english have gotten over that one already...

so why don't you (both)...

TOMNOL, i WOULD'VE. aND 3-0 IN A QUATERFINAL IS a BLOWOUT, I don't know which sport you watched. If it wasn't for the red card, we would have scored, as Suker was away on goal, and we all know that he rarely misses. So it would have been 1-0 , and by the end, maybe 4-0 to a better and stronger Croatian side. You mught remember, we played the germans in the quaters of the EC and then it was Croatia with 10 men, outplaying the Germans.

So as far as getting over it, may I remind you that this is, after all, a forum for discussions, and the discussion date is irrelevant.

get over it bro, if you don't like our discussion, don't read, and don't certainly reply.

Fifa 97 RULEZ!

Fifa 97 is an AWESOME game! In my opinion, the BEST fifa ever! I always wanted the passes to be directed by the player, and not by the CPU, so I like Fifa 2002's passing system... There are some flaws, but I think that it is better than the old-arcade-perfect-pass mode! I wish there was a GOOD remake of FIFA 97!

No, the reason the Croat dove was because he knew he couldn't get around Woerns, so he made the smart play by diving. It's part of soccer, but it's downright dirty, if you ask me. (and it wasn't just Woerns there, there was another defender - check out the video again - I will as soon as I go back home)

As for the Euro Cup, I can't see how you claim Croatia outplayed Germany if Germany won that match.

Voltaire

haha, you actually liked FIFA 97? Well, I did too since it was my first good soccer game.

Hey, did you know that you can listen to the music from the FIFA 97 CD? That's the last year that allows you to do that.

but then again Voltaire, you showed me that you know nothing aboput football, so who cares what you say? are you over 9 years old? I wouldn't say so.
