There are no rules that forbid criticism of FIFA 2004. Some of the most interesting topics on any forum are critical ones, and criticism of a system ensures the health and vitality of that system. Without criticism a system stagnates. If this (or any other) thread is boring or annoying for you, there's a simple solution: exercise the freedom you have - use your ability to discriminate and DON'T READ IT.
No one is forcing anyone to read a thread they don't like. The fact that you don't like something is no argument for stifling discussion that others are enjoying. It's only an argument for action on your own part - you have the complete freedom to either take part, or not to. I get tired of people trying to impose their personal dislikes on an entire community when they can easily solve their problem by simply not involving themselves in whatever it is they dislike. Why torture yourself???
It is authoritarian to tell other people what they can, or cannot discuss. I have never told people to end discussion just because I don't like what's being discussed. If I don't enjoy a discussion I simply go elsewhere. I will never understand how people can continually take part in discussions they claim to have no interest in, merely to argue for the discussions to cease. What is the point of that, other than to spoil the fun that others are having? If you disagree with an argument, please take part in the conversation, but if you don't want to actively participate by joining the discussion, and if you just want the discussion to end, use the sense that God (or nature) gave you, and leave.
Also, for those folks who complain that the discussion has strayed off topic, SO WHAT??? Conversations evolve. Deal with it, or if you can't, stop reading. There is no rule that mandates that forum threads must stay on topic. It seems that a few people are trying to find any excuse to stop us talking here. Give it up! If we don't talk here, we'll do it somewhere else (possibly in a thread you ARE interested in - would you prefer that?). It almost appears as if some folks here are following this thread trying desperately to find any excuse to tell us to shut up. Why are you acting as if what we're saying here is so important? Why are you so threatened by what we're saying here? If you have a contrary argument, make it. If not, do everyone a favour and participate in something you ARE interested in, and on which you DO have an opinion. To join in a discussion without actually furthering the discussion is a literary form of onanism. To attempt to curtail a discussion that others are enjoying is not only contrary to a forum's purpose, it is also evidence of megalomania.
Finally, you folks who are arguing to lock this thread should realise that discussion in this thread is continuing mainly because of your own input. If it wasn't for your own authoritarian efforts to stop conversation here, this thread would have probably either remained on topic and/or died out through lack of interest. It takes two to tango, and you folks are insisting on being my tango partners. The fastest way to end this thread is to simply be quiet yourselves, then the rest of us will have to find something other than freedom of speech and freedom of association (the topics that this thread seems to have evolved into) to talk about.
