Thanks Andrew. But could you go further explaining what a piledriver is, pelase....?
And also could you tell me how to get one on one because I've had a few chances to be actually one one one, but I don't know how I did it....
Thanks again.

A piledriver is a shot that's just hit really hard and straight towards goal without much curl on it.

I get into one-on-ones mainly through counter attack. If I have 2 attackers running at 2 or 3 defenders I set the other player on a run and wait for the perfect moment to play a through ball. You can also get one-on-ones if you dribble past your opponent. If you're playing as Arsenal it's more difficult to get one-on-ones than it is if your playing as Milan because Milan sit very deep.

What about the kits getting dirty. Is there still that same bug where only the away team's kit gets dirty? I thought that was poorly done in 2004. All the players got equally dirty. Also they were dirty after just a few minutes even in good weather without ever being on the ground. How is it in 2005?

I'm pretty sure that it gets dirty in different ways. I did notice that it's more random than it was in 2004 where there were certain levels of dirtyness, but they all ended up looking the same, and having the same dirt pattern.

After playing more matches I'm starting to notice that only strikers and occasionally the offensive midfielder score goals...

Wingers stay too wide and the defensive midfielder never joins in the attack.

What often happens with me is my strikers get the ball and are left stranded because the midfield doesn't push up to support them.

I wish the cpu teammates would make more intelligent runs without having to use OTB or the player runs button.

Fifa's getting better I have to agree, but to call it awsome is totally dumbfounded.

If EA were to take notice of the shortfalls that the demo has highlighted, I.E shooting and set pieces and then fix them for the full version, then yes i'd be interested in purchasing the full game, but until they do, i'm going to stay well clear.

I have to agree pes 3 had it's faults, but they have seem to have fixed most of them in we8, so in pes4 any other teething troubles they had with we8 should be fixed.

I can't see how you can say fifa 2005 is awsome, you cant tell me you cant see alot of room for improvement??

FIFA 2005 still needs work, I always think shooting in FIFA should be a LOT more like PES, not the whole game, just the shooting.

Konami make shooting very emotional...

i agree...

in pes for ps2, i heard that the harder you push the button the harder the shot, and the longer you push the button the higher the shot.

In pes 3 when i have a long shot opportunity i usually end up smashing the button as hard as i can but i try not to hold it down, just a quick smash, so the ball goes low and hard.

i like this system a lot!
it takes a long time to get used to, but its brilliant!

Yup, that's it! This type of shooting system adds depth, variation and what is more a bloody learning curve damnit! FIFA 2005 shooting has no learning curve, it simply point and press, very dissapointing, it's more based on timing then actual sensitivity and skill.

This is something that puts me off buying the game, the shooting is just so BOOORING!!! Scoring isn't fun, because sticking that ball in the back of the net didn't REALLY test you at all, yeah sure breaking the defence was rewarding but actually managing to get the shot on target and past the keeper is like...well it's not really changed since FIFA 2001 in terms of emotions from scoring the damn goal, I'm just left there, emotionless...I don't think I'll buy it, in fact I think I'll give PES4 a try on xbox, EA have screwed this up...shooting is pathetic!! And what's with the rocket shots? God damn!! No players' on this earth can shoot like that, that's got to be about 100mph without no run up, just a little swing of the leg, I mean...what?! lol, complete JOKE! :kader:

PES4 HERE I COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

nice post NK i do agree with you.
the first touch its great, and passing has improved with same nice terns when they recve the ball, but thats it realy.
the corners, Free kick, shooting and nets they are completly **** in fifa 2005 :kader:

NK have you got xbox? u lacky bastard;)
yes stick with pes4 and it will change your life, i played the game last month in gamestars and (now i can't sleep proply untill the game comes out) trust me this game its brilliant:rockman:

of course being the footy fanatic i am, i'll get both games...
(i have a job, and i buy basically nothing else except for football related stuff)

The only question for me is, which one will i be playing longer...

unfortunately i heard that they toned down the sensitivity for shooting in we8. Will this make it easier to shoot?
I really hope ea adopts their shooting style or makes one thats similar or better.
And for the longest time i've stressed...
player specific animations!!:D

:D SWEET! I CAN'T WAIT FOR PES4! :D

I bet there's so much variation and depth, from tackling, fouls, even hand-balls, different styles and individuality on the pitch from animations, A.I, different team styles, free kick styles, LOADS OF STUFF!!!

FIFA cannot compete, only with licensing and for me, that isn't enough anymore. I don't keep up to date with football anymore, I don't care about real names anymore, if the game plays bloody football better than any other game then why settle for something that doesn't play the beautiful game as good? I mean who cares if it looks good if it doesn't play it? Personally I think more children will play FIFA because they can have the real player names, but for hardcore football fans, they'll want to play something as close to the real game as possible, so why buy FIFA and not PES?

FIFA 2005 is a big improvement, but FIFA 2004 was absolute crap, FIFA 2005 is alright. Gameplay wise FIFA is pretty low, average.

I don't agree one bit that shooting on FIFA has no learning curve. At first I couldn't shoot for ****. With the goalies being so good it's not that easy. I could never finish off one-on-ones and could never score a long-shot.

I really enjoy FIFA and it's not as easy as you make it out to be. Please don't go into the "FIFA is for kids" nonsense. I get sick of people talking down like this.

And I am a hardcore football fan. While nothing can beat the realism of PES's gameplay, it doesn't fair well in other areas. The sound in PES3 was absolutely crap to say the least... compare that to the sound in FIFA this year. PES3 was a real good game but wasn't perfect, because while a lot of it is about gameplay it still doesn't make the whole game. That's why I like FIFA as well, it's more of an all-rounder and this year it has good enough gameplay to match.

Well I gotta say that you really helped me out.
I just played a one-hour-game (I've edited the .ini file so that I can play unlimited time) with Milan (I've always used Arsenal), and there's a big difference between both teams.
When I played with Arsenal the other team (Milan) always started winning and I had to play a lot of time in order for me to beat them (because I don't like quitting FIFA having lost :p). But this time I started winning 2-0, then they scored, and after some time playing I decided it was enough and the final score was 6-3 (I would like to remind that I had been player for 1 hour, so that's a reasonable scoring).

I still quite don't understand how to use the First Touch and the FreeStyle (skill moves).... it's quite hard I must say... but I think I just have to keep practicing.

Once again, thanks Andrew.

Just use the left shift button alot. When the ball is in the air, press the left shift button and a direction before the ball reaches your player. If it's a pass on the ground, do the same thing.

Yeah but I'm using a Gamepad (Thrustmaster Dual Power) and so, whenever I press some arrows or move the stick in some direction (let's say: up and left arrows or upper left corner) the player goes in the inverse direction..... so it's kinda hard to control the player and get used to the FT feature properly.

Glad I could help. :)

Yeah, this year there's just so much to learn about FIFA. The shooting, the first touch etc. adds a lot more depth to this years game. There's a good amount of variety and the full version of the game is just great.

Yeah. It seems that you and I are the only ones around here that like both games: FIFA and PES and see good things in both games, and prob'ly play both games this years. hehe.

I can't wait 'till a demo of PES4 comes out, just to compare.
