Fifa 2006 - OckHAM's Gameplay

I send a first version of a fusion between the best of his gameplay mod and imho the best of mine to Ockham's mail so he can try it out :) I'm curious to know his opinion, if he likes it we can release it as a second option gameplay or so.

To compare : I played Milan vs. Fiorentina again, I won 3-0 again but it was a lot harder.

I went to Delle Alpi again also and this happened :

I won yes, but man was I lucky, I played the perfect match even.

I took them out cold as Gilardino scored in the 4th minute, but then I had to survive a storm from Juventus with Nedved and Camaronesi running like madmen crossing to Ibrahimovic and Trezeguet. The chants of the Brigate Rossoneri slowly faded to be replaced by the shouts of the Bianconeri Drughi (did I mention to try my sound packs?) "Vinci per noi! Magica Juve!"

Dida did some great saves, but in the 27th minute the inevitable equaliser arrived by Trezeguet who volleyed a deflected ball by Dida in the back of the net! 1-1!

In my best imitation of Ancelotti I changed my tactic from neutral to defense + counter attack and with Gilardino alone in point, even Sheva a bit back in midfield I was able to contain the renewed assaults.

Then, in the 45th minute, as everyone expected a draw at half-time, Pirlo send a perfect pass to Kaka, he ran to the fight of the Juve box and a low cross found Gilardino again as he volleyed past the crucified Buffon! 1-2! "Lalalalala Milan Ohohohoho" yeah now the Delle Alpi was really silent save for the visitors blocks who started a party.

I calmed myself during half-time and decided on the strategy to follow next, I knew Juve was going to unleash a storm again so this time I decided to change my formation to 4-5-1 but in an attacking mind.

Right after the start of the second period, in the 50th minute, it payed off as Gila scored his hat-trick as he was left alone and the referee didn't whistle a foul but left advantage as three defenders rushed to Sheva and fouled him,but he could pass the ball to the other attacker in the last second before he touched the ground. 1-3!

Capello reacted then by replacing the tired Camaronesi by Blasi and changing his formation to an even more offensive one. I reacted by replacing The tiring Seedorf by the fast Rui Costa to be even more deadly on the counter attack.

For the second time I was pressed against my goal and in the 68th minute Emerson's long shot went right in the top of the goal leaving Dida standing on his line. 2-3!

Then during the next minutes, the match could go either way, I had to send balls in the terraces with Stam and Cafu to counter the relentless attacks, both supporter clans chanting their lungs out, I stood my ground the best I could.

In the 70th minute Capello made an all or nothing decision by replacing his defender Zebina by attacker Mutu, and this was the error that brought the 3 points to Milan.

The added space in the back proved deadly on my next counter-attack, as Sheva claimed the ball in midfield, outran Cannavaro and went alone towards Buffon, the keeper tried to close the angle the best he could but Sheva didn't miss, 78th minute 2-4!

The rest of the match I played in defense and kept the ball in the team to control the end of the match. A frustrated Cannavaro received a booking as he tackled Kaka in an agressive way.

A hard fought victory it was indeed!

Lol, you can see through my story how enthousiast I am over the gameplay now, I hope others will be as much :)

Thanks for impressions Billy, anyway I'm not a fanatic of many-goals soccer: a 2-4 should be an extremely rare event, especially in a match as Juve - Milan. So I will take a look at your gameplay, but I can't assure I'll do the modifications you are illustrating.

It was an exceptional match :) Keep in mind that I modified the stats of both teams compared to the default EA ones, in the previous times I scored even more goals, just try out the gameplay I send you and tell me what you think.

Played more matches with the mixed gameplay mod, Palermo - Fiorentina 1-1, Man Utd - Blackburn 0-0, Milan - Werder Bremen 2-1, did you have time to test it Ockham?

Extract the rar in your Fifa 2006 directory, when the program asks you if you want to Overwrite answer "Yes to All". You have to use Winrar to extract rar files, Winrar can be find here: http://www.rarlabs.com/
If you don't know how to istall and use Winrar I'm sorry I can't help you.

Billy I'm actually busy with new teams creation, we'll have the time to speak about gameplay on msn for sure.

Rar file contains config.dat and ini.big (you need the second too for modifications take effect).

In the meanwhile, after a very interesting discussion with Billy I added some fixed to the gameplay: a bit less fast gameplay and more long-distance cpu shots. Try it :D

Your patch is awesome, but for some reason all the commentary and music is gone when it is applied. Also, I find that the goalkeepers are pretty much nearly invincible even with the most obvious potential goal.

One other thing, is there a way you could add a string in your patch to make the camera more like TV coverage (I love dynamic, but with your patch I can't seem to tweak the height, it won't allow me)

Thanks for your time!

I want to congratulate both OckHAM and Billy for their great work, and I have to say I'm really interested in both OckHAM's original one as well as Billy's mixed one. OckHAM, I kindly ask you to give Billy's one a shot, a mixed release by such two experienced players would make FIFA 06 a really great game.

I tested Billy's gameplay and it's very good, but is quite different from my idea of gameplay: it's a bit more spectacular, with more goals and actions. Anyway my gameplay is "studied" to be used with CEP.

Okay, it's nice to hear that you've tried it. It would be better for everyone though if Billy had your permission to release his mixed gameplay (and of course give you all proper credit), for everyone to pick their favorite.

I have made my own gameplay mod and it's compatible with the CEP, maybe I'll have to change the career.ini to match the latest version 0.10 due to the transfer problems that came up a few posts ago (I made mine compatible with version 0.9 anyway I will update if needed). I uploaded it Saturday at Breamster but the webmaster is on vacation I think as it is still awaiting to be put in the download centre. So you can try out both (Ockham's gameplay is very good) and keep the one you like most. I plan on keeping my mod compatible with future versions of the CEP also.

If there will be an update in the gameplay, can I keep my current CEP version (0.10) & just download the gameplay-patch or do I have to download the latest CEP version (once it's out) as well?

I like the gameplay, though goalkeepers are too invincible on one on ones & the human keeper comes running out on times he shouldn't (eg when he can never reach the ball anymore, meaning the CPU can score an easy chipped shot).

I have to say I'm playing 1star=team Spezia now, so I don't know if the new gameplay looks overall different once you'll play with a 5 star team.

In reality I would like to fix the one-on-one shooting rate, it's the only thing I'm not satisfied with: for the rest of thing I found my gameplay is hard enough and realistic: almost impossible to win with Leicester City against Chelsea, for example, while if you play AC Milan against Catanzaro you'll for sure. To score from lange range you have to use properly player's position, direction and powerup: I did many goals outside the box this way. What I'm not able to fix (and I'll ask help to Billy that seems an expert) is the one-on-one shooting: the problem, for me, it's not in the goalkeepers, becase if I lower them more I'll have matches with 5/6 goals, the problem is the way in which the player kicks when he's in front of the goalkeeper.

Regarding your question:

If there will be an update in the gameplay, can I keep my current CEP version (0.10) & just download the gameplay-patch or do I have to download the latest CEP version (once it's out) as well?

Yes, you can.

Thankx once more for the quick reply (do you get any sleep at all these days :-)? ).

And yes, you're right, it is NOT so much the goalkeeper being invincible on one-on-ones, but the player that seems to misdirect his shot! It's either too central, too slow or too wide, no matter how you power-up or aim the shot.
Note again that "my" Spezia is so lowskilled that I don't have a clue how it would work with a Milan or Juventus, maybe the problem would be the other way around (too many one-on-ones resulting in goals).

This is a very tricky thing to tweak. In my gameplay mod (which should be available at last today or tomorrow on Breamster) the situation of the chipped shot goal vs the human team keeper occurs also but only if your defense let the attacker slip through to begin with. It is not possible imho to alter this setting to make it even more realistic (btw you can, depending on your keepers skill still get the ball out of the feet of the attacker by pressing the shooot button right before he chips the ball)

The other one on one situation where the player seems to misdirect his shot is depending directly on that attackers shooting skill, iow put Schevchenko in a situation like that and he will very rarely miss, an attacker of Spezia will miss a lot more.

All in all gameplay alterations are a very tricky and subjective thing, some will like it, others will hate it, it's a very personal and playstyle dependent thing.

And I find Ockham's gameplay very good, tons better even than the standard EA one. I made mine compatible with his CEP patch (by using the corrected settings in the career.ini) so once it is released, you already have a choice, I can only recommend to other gameplay patchers to make theirs compatible also since his CEP patch, I am sure, will become a standard for all serious Fifa gamers.

Can you tweak the "real-live-gameplay" so that next sunday-evening in Olimpico Shevchenko WILL miss those chances and Doni will be invincible for once in the Roma-goal, as we (Roma) will need all the help we can get if we wish to get anything out of that encounter ;-) ! :fool:

ps: Great that your patch will be compatible with CEP, so it gives everyone the oppurtunityto choose which patch "suits" him/het best!
