I can understand that most of u are currently engrossed in playing the game and do not have much time to spend at these forums. However, those of us who have not yet got the game have our ears perked waiting to hear something detailed about ur experiences with the game so far. U know, something to hype us up a bit more, stir our anticipation etc. So could all u guys:tristan, jumbo, el che etc write a couple of paragraphs praising the points about the game that struck u upon ur first time playing, stuff u have come to appreciate as time went on, and stuff u hope to accomplish and pull off with some mastering of the game in place. Looking forward to hear from u guys.

PS: ill be picking up my copy later today, so ill have my first impressions here sometime on saturday

Good, hope ya already got it....the drubble and pass challenges are SO cool.....mastering all the little touches is crazy...

I got it yesterday...and I was literally blown away! I couldn't put it down yesterday and I had to play it as soon as I got up today, hehe.

The gameplay is just so realistic and there's so much depth to this game. The master league is addictive too. I gotta warn you guys though, WE6I isn't easy, you can't play it like Fifa....you actually have to think before passing and probe for openings just like in real soccer!

9.9/10 from me!

PS- I haven't noticed ANY sowdowns at all!

I'm from the UK and have had the game (PES2) since the end of October. I'm sorry to but-in on your thread but I've just got to say...

Reminds me of when I got PES2 at the end of October. :) Played it all day, all night, and then had to play it when I got up the next day. If you are like me you'll still be playing it regularly when the next version comes out. It's one of those games that you just don't bore of because every game is a challenge. In fact I'm looking forward to playing tonight because I've just switched it onto the hardest mode (Extreme) and it is really, really challenging now. :)

Having played WE6 before.

WE6i was pretty much what I expected to be.

-PES2, quite a bit more acradey version of WE6 with worse rosters and more unreal names [brazil, netherlands, Korea and so much more]

pros/cons compared with WE6
-Harder shots on goal are easier to make.
-A lot easier to dribble around defenders.
-The pace of the game feels a bit more faster [might be wrong on this]
-The game plays more on each ends.
-Liked the adiddas sponsoring(?) better.
-Improved Ball physics.
-More player animations.
-Pretty much the exact same graphics as the game released last year.
-The japanese commentator was less annoying ^^;

Nevertheless, I am addicted to this game right now -.-
Said this many times, but just don't have my modded PS2 to play WE6 anymore.

For people who were used to FIFA or whatever out there.
This game should be the BOMB!!!
Play with friends, together or against...the game only gets BETTER!!!

Had friends who never played an WE/PES before play each other last night. They were shouting, yelling, clapping hands, cheering... just going crazy about the game. Yes, they loved the game, repeatedly saying 'this game is so real'.

Never heard this ever happening when playing FIFA.

I have been playing Master League on Hard level. I have owned ISS, PES, and PES2 for PSone and thought that this would be a walk in the park. Boy was I wrong! I just finished by second season in D3, and have been in last place both times. I won a game last night that would have ended the game had I lost.

I owned the computer on PSone -- even on the hardest setting. WE6I ain't you father's soccer game. I spent way too much on players that aren't doing the job. Also, Benni McCarthy, my leading scorer, got hurt for six games and that is killing me. Need a good cup run to make some $$$.

The game is amazing. The control & touches that a player can make with the ball is truly great. The gamespeed flows beatifully allowing U to scoope the feild for an open player or make a dash down the feild.(I haven't experienced any slowdown).
The shooting is very good but I am haveing problems getting a powerful shot on target(Low Tradjectory Shot),There are specific buttons to press to acomplish this shot but I don't know if I'm doing it correctly,I haven't been successful in doing it.

I bought my copy yesterday afternoon and played a few hours with my Cousin. He really likes the game and is a real big soccer fan(Pathanikos),I told him to invest in a PS2 w/WE6I,it's well worth the price and time.
I hope U guys have fun playing WE6I and in the future versions of WE with an ONLINE feature,we will get to play each other.Viva.

Sweet!

One of the things which struck me about the game was how fluid the whole thing is. It plays so smoothly, they really have the animations of the players near perfection. The front end interface is really easy to use and the presentation is awesome.

The actual game itself is a lot harder than I thought it would be. I seriously struggle on Normal level! Becasue every game is totally different you can play the same team twice, play the exact same style as you did before and end up winning one and losing the other. The different types of goal you can score is fantastic, anything type of goal you can conceive you can pull off.

I wouldn't even say FIFA 2003 has much graphically over WE6 other than the authentic uniforms but when you're playing it makes zero difference anyway. At least when you see the team photo you have all your players unlike FIFA 2003 where 2 of them magically disappear and it only shows 9 players!!!

The stadiums are beautiful, everything about the game is as good or better than I expected. I don't care if Konami only release a game every two years because this one will last a long long time. Choices, choices: yearly BS from EA Sports or genius production from Konami!!! Tough one!

Damn it , guys !! *drooling* All the reviews were great !! I still haven't got mine yet, but it's okay, enjoy the game. I'll get mine by next week.

The game is gonna blown me away !! :rockman:

I also want to add that another thing that continues to amaze me about WE6I is the huge variety of player animations!! Whether it be shooting, heading, or GK saves...in every single game I've played so far I've noticed new animations that I previously didn't see.

I especially love some of the animations that defenders do while clearing the ball, especially during goal-mouth scrambles...they really show a sense of urgency or panic to get the ball the f*ck outta there!!! It's great! (H)

The game is simply amazing. Having played ISS Pro on PS1, I assumed that the game controls would be very familiar. The basic controls are still the same, but the rest is so detailed that it is a regretful mistake if you jumped into the Master's League without mastering all the little tricks. Especially at any setting higher than *Easy*! Trusting my dominating performance in ISS Pro, I started with the normal challenge level and the best I could do, was to tie 1-1 in the entire season! Guess where in the table I was at the end of the season! I have restarted at the easy level and won the first two games 3-2, with struggles, hopeful shots from outside the box and clearances full of panic, though. I also must admit that I committed lots of fouls, spent time in my own half to run out the clock in order to keep my lead. In brief, it provides you with all the mixed feelings you might have when playing or watching the real game.

The AI is extremely well designed and adapts to the way you try to change the flow of the game. It responds with counterattacks, forcing you to be more careful if you are in an attacking mood. Have you started to use the wings? It blocks the wings. Do you use 3 forwards? It has the antidote: Offside trap! If you have one fixed strategy for creating a game, I wish you good luck, because that single game plan won' t let you win any games. Especially if you are behind and have to score that crucial goal.

The commentary can be boring at certain times, but the neat thing is that you can set it to any of the five languages (English, Italian, French, German, Spanish) offered in the options menu. So my suggestion is to set it to some language you do not speak/understand, e.g. Italian in my case: It sounds like watching a game broadcast in RAI International...

As for the slow-downs mentioned in other topics, I did not notice anything drastic that I would consider unacceptable. I played about 20 games so far, and I have only occasionally noticed a very slight "lag" once in 5 games when the ball is in the middle of the field and lots of successive quick passes/through passes are made and lots of players from the defending team are chasing the ball. I also witnessed just one single case where the camera was delayed to catch up with a long pass which eventually left the field for a goal-kick. Overall the game-play and player's response time, depending on their ability, are very smooth.

This game is addictive and the worse you are beaten in a previous game the more willing you are for a come-back to prove your potential.

I am drooling... And not just because I have a plate of tamales in front of me ready to be devoured.

I called EB today... They had copies in but only 2 left. I zipped over and got my copy. My boss called while I was on my way and I had to fib a bit about what I was doing said... "It is my Nephew's B-day and I have to be there at 5:00... If I don't pick up a present my wife is gonna kill me"

Now I am back at the office and can feel that disc screaming to me... Play Me! Play ME!!! Feels like the tell tale heart...

I am going to sneak out of the office in about 30 Minutes for a "customer visit"

It better meet my expectations... or... or... or else :-)

ok here we go.. welll for the last year and a half since i joined the soccer gaming forum i kept hearing how wonderful WE/PES series was.. the only thing i had come close to knowing what most of u were talking about was ISS or even ESPN MLS shootout/extra time...

anyway i finally got the GAME OF THE YEAR yesterday and well its everything everyone said it would be...except i don't know why but it seemed kinda wired to me at first(the animation) cuz i'm used to WTS which i LOVE...

so at first i was sceptic when playin WE6i...to me i liked the WTS animation better , but then i kept playing and playing and WOW i was hooked man...

i mean i was only playing friendlies(until i finish editing) and i had it on 1star.. and i was only able to score twice in like 5 games...but i saw that on 1 star the defenders didn't do much when i ran up the middle and had many chances to score... so i put it on 2star and i started to feel like NOW i have to build up plays.. which is kool...
wasn't able to score though..

anyway i gotta give the game a 9.5 cuz i got hooked on it quick..
can't wait to finish editind so i can play ML:rockman:

so yup it was worth the wait !!! thank u KONAMI...
now all i have to do is wait till later in the afternoon to play again cuz i have my son here and i can't play it yet LOL

The 6 full pages on the in-game controls was...daunting...to say the least.

While it will take me forever to memorize all this stuff, the potential for endless offensive creativity is awesome.

OK here are the FIRST reactions coming from a very accomplished Winning Eleven 2002 (PSX) player (me).

The controls are basically the same, but I mean basically. Past that, its completely different.

I used to easily win on hard on WE2002, so here I played on 3-star, and I was maybe a little bit better than the comp. I switched to 4 star, and thats about right for now (only 2 hours of play).

So for a person who has played WInning eleven (PSX) before, I guess 4 star is a good level to start on.

GAMEPLAY:

Remember, I have been playing one game for more than a year, so I am VERY used to it. THis game is different, so naturally it was weird for me at first.

The ball is LIVE. As in, if you run near a player on your team, the ball could deflect out of your control. Much more realistic.

My problem is dribbling. It's too easy. I easily do turns and runs that cannot be stopped. That is in the midfield. In the offensive third, the box is very well covered by the defense, so its not that easy to SCORE, but midfield dribbling (for me, a very good dribbler in WE2002) is easy. I don't know how it is for a beginner to the series. Probably much harder.

Remember this is 4, not 5 star.

Hmm what else. Truthfully, I only played 6 or 7 games and do not want to say anything too early. I will post a new thread later after playing for a day or two. Good luck kicking ass boys.

Wuss!

Ok, I'm being like a total wuss playing the Master season on easy until I get used to the game more (I only got my PS2 last week so I'm still getting use to the controllers too!).

I got promoted in my first season despite losing 4 games and I got beaten in the final of the Tiny cup. I thought they'd be 8 teams in division 2 also (there were 8 teams in division 3) but instead there's 16 so I'm in for a long season in div 2! I've played one game there so far tying 3-3 with Celtic. I had 3 (yes, THREE!) players sent off, they did deserve to go, but managed to claw an equalizer with 1 minute to go.

The game rules and the atmosphere is fantastic. FIFA 2003 players go on about atmosphere but the intro sequences and player reactions in WE6 create so much atmosphere for the games it way surpasses FIFA's attempts. True, you don't get crowds singing songs especially for your team but you feel like you're playing a real game not participating in a game where you only control 50% of what goes on like in FIFA.

My wife is like not mad with me yet but I guessing there's some "words" and a trip to the "dog house" on the way if I spend too much time on it.

You guys might want to look at the in game tutorials just in case the book is confusing. It's a lot better to see it in action anyway!. Next step ... practice practice practice.

happy gaming;)
