To answer Fili's earlier question, no Mata central and Gotze on the wing (although on the right, not on the left) is what works best for me.
Finished 2nd season, having acquired Neymar for 45m in January and he exploded scoring 5 in his first match, 11 in his first 4, 18 in his first 6, and around 24 over the rest of the season (for a not as impressive but still impressive 24 in 25). Injuries to key people sucked, but having lots of players to rotate allowed for a good season. Won the CL again from ManU, this time 5-2 (Terry from a corner, De Gea own goal, two well-placed Sturridge efforts and one from Hazard after he skinned Vidic on the edge of the box). Also won the league on the 37th matchday, 4 points above ManU, 151 scored, 21 conceded. Lost to Arsenal in the FA semis, lost to ManU in the first round of the Carling, as well as in the Shield (Wigan went on to win the Carling). Won the European Super Cup and CWC. Finally faced some tough CL fixtures in Barcelona (lost 2-1 at Camp Nou and won 3-1 at home, in one of my prouder moments, having initially gotten my tactics wrong, went on to get them right and win), as well Athletic's 3-4-3.
Went with this tactic for most of the season:
Torres (Drogba)
Hazard (Neymar/Malouda) - Mata (Ganso) - Sturridge (Gotze)
Mikel (Romeu/Bannan/Lampard/McEachran) - Ramires (Essien)
Cole (Bertrand) - Terry (Vertonghen) - Luiz (Ivanovic) - Bosingwa (Coleman)
Cech (Courtois)
Although I'm rotation heavy, so everyone got a chance. Hazard was spectacular with 30 goals and 32 assists, Sturridge with 37 goals, Neymar, Torres and Drogba all with 20 goals a piece, and Ganso, Mata and Gotze with assists in their 20s.
Sold Turnbull and Malouda now, since Turnbull failed to play what with Courtois refusing to go out on loan, and being brilliant. He'll replace Cech after the 2014 World Cup, I'm sure. He told me he wanted more games, I told him I'll sell him at the end of the season and started looking for a 3rd choice keeper for next season. Pleased to see Turnbull still likes me, despite it all. Got Handanovic (Xifio will be glad to see him rot on my bench), who I'll probably look to sell next season, unless he's content with no games. I hope Cech's decline coincides with Delac's becoming good enough, don't want Delac to rot as 3rd choice just because he's become too good to loan-out. Which will happen soo, since I'm already having to loan him out to Barca. Hope he rejects them in favor or Hajduk.
Malouda was still good, as was Meireles who I sold for 14.5, but they were getting old not getting games. Lamps, Cole, Drogba and Terry all have the contracts end this season. I'll definitely extend Cole and Terry for another season, but I'm sort of hopeful the other two decide to retire. I have ready replacements and they're just gonna get less and less games and I'm not going to sell them. Lamps got less than 20 games last season.
Also, why the **** won't anyone come in and take McEachran on loan? He's rotting on my bench, stagnated, and only one team has ever made a loan bid, Everton, and he rejected it. I get loads of offers for De Bruyne and Bruma and such, and McEacrhan is as good and no one bids. Ridiculous.
Also, twice in a row now my Championship feeder club have been promoted thanks to my loaned players and canceled the link. Birmingham have had the same help, but it remains to be seen if they go straight back down like their predecessors. Annoying as ****.
