Ferguson rebukes Van Nistelrooy

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has criticised star striker Ruud van Nistelrooy for not revealing he was carrying a calf injury.
The injury makes the Dutchman a doubt for Monday's game against Fulham.

"He never told us he had an injury but played one or two games with it and we had to keep taking him off," Ferguson told the Daily Express.

"We think he did it four or five weeks ago, maybe on an international break, but the worry is it hasn't gone away."

Ferguson said he was worried that playing on with the injury could cause Van Nistelrooy further problems.

"You have to be careful with calf injuries because they can be a nightmare and creep down to the Achilles injury.

Ferguson rules out Saha move
"If you don't get to the root of the problem and clear it up completely it can keep resurfacing - as has happened with Ruud.

"We've got to be dead sure he is 100%.

"You worry about how long he is going to last in games. You are wondering when you can take him off and if it is a tight game, you don't want to take him off at all."

I dont think we should risk him

It could be, rest is usually the best thing to do. If the tendon tears, surgery would be required so they have to be careful with it. Ruud should not play at all against Fulham and I'm sure SAF won't let him. Go to google if you want more information on that type of injury.

Don't know if I'll be able to watch the match (I start working Monday :( ) but I think we'll come away with a win, 2-1 United.

I can't believe that the players and most of us are so dependant on van Nistelrooy. I'm pretty sure the likes of Smith and Saha can be called upon to perform well like Ole and Teddy has done.

Achilles is the small tendon at the back of your foot, you could probably feel it if you tried. it can be VERY serious, if hurt badly a player could be out for up to 18 months. But i doubt he's been injured badly.
