GeForce MX420 FIX solution!

this is what I wroted to one of forum members, based on Cross21 advices: :Bow:

-run 3D Analyzer -> press 'Select' button
-choose your pes.exe. file, OK
- now set up all fields which Shifty said:

Performance section:
v force zbuffer
v disable two-sided stencil

Hardware Limits section:
v emulate HW TnL Caps

Remove Shutering section:
v quality mode

and last but not least:
Z-Buffer section:
v force 24 bit zbuffer (without stencil) OR v force 16 bit buffer (without stencil) * (but on these settings you must set up color depth of your screen to 16 bit if you want to works it properly)

now you can press 'Run' and play OR you can choose "Save batch file" to run your PES without execute 3D Analyzer in future (but remember to make a backup your pes.exe file)

on these settings (32 bit color) I can play 640x480xHIGH Detail - Very nice
OR
800x600x Medium - nice either (maybe little bit slowdowns but really little bit)

* OR on these settings I can play with 16 bit color on 1024x768x High detail - (maybe little bit slowdowns but really little bit)
OR
800x600x HIgh Detail - Very nice

This is what I use as I wrote once in this thread:

Duron 1.2 GHz, 512 DDram, GF 2 MX 100/200
- double speed
- v-sync off
- anti aliasing off
- anisoptric filtering off
- NVidia detonators 43 series
- Tweak XP for optimizing memory before play (click "Optimize' few times - It can be even 420 Mb free for my PES)
- all of progs turned off from tray (I left mouse drivers and firewall only)
- and of course 3D Analyzer on right settings

These settings should be able to change by default in game, if Konami would do this - no one would shout about 'los galacticos' requirements

To Mayor : mmm...I better use 800x600 high detail, all looks good,even the player proportions. Remember that PS2 version only use the 7**x480 resolution. I try on 1024 and the player look like junkie (yes I fit the resolution 4:3).
Btw, what driver version you r using.

to Jay44: if u disabling z-buffer, ever look at the crowd? It's gone blurring isn't it? it's the cause of w-buffer , btw it's suxx on the replay if u disabling Z. Already try my config?

to Johny: MoBo used to be "Mother Board" in my day, i do not know if they stands for different thing nowadays.

@Cross21: as I wrote I use "- NVidia detonators 43 series"
concrete 43.51...

@lovalova: I tried couple another versions in all series but these what I have already is the best for me (e.g. on 53 series my PES didn't work - black screen and shut)

different drivers causes different effect on different machines...

Hi all...

It's seems I have mistaken to tell you before that my 41.09 stuck in 60fps because of driver...(I'm happy cause' of that I play very smoothly, even on penalty box only hit 3 fps less...doesnt fell any slowdown.).

Because, when I try in my friend (exactly almost same config as my pc) and he had ti4200 (more powerfull than my mx420), the speed still goes crazy even in the same driver.

The cause is...WinXP+Nvidia Driver (all of them) that cause a syndrom called "Nvidia refreshRate error!". Yes, remember when u first install d driver, it force you 60hz at any resolution? Don't use Nvidia RefreshRate overrider on the display menu, use other third party Fixer, such as "Nvidia Refresh Rate fix" (google) or like i use..RivaTuner 60Hz RR fixer.

This what I do to my (now very happy person cause he play Pes3 on 60fps straight! no slowdons at anyplace! because heis normally play at the same res about 90s fps!) friends PC.:

-Install Pes3 first.
-Install nvidia driver.
-Install Nvidia RefreshRate Fix (one time use prog)
-Adjusting any performance/quality at desired rate.
-turn vsync on (powerfull card) or off (mx series).
-Play it., it sticks at 61fps at fraps (60 others)!

Well I think this fix better than Pes3 official patch 1.30.1 that I know they put "fps_max 60" and "enabled DoubleSpeedMode" when below 50 (cause of stuttering).

Forgive Konami then because they only used to TV res that only has differences efreshrate of PAL or NTSC (mostly) when they make something at console. They know how to resize resolution on PC, but they understand nothing about the differneces between monitor and TV set!!! We'll make them learn!

(Wonder there's no Redeon Refresh Rate fix for WinXP?,most slowdown/fastmode happen on Nvidia base card+WinXP, except they play the game far under minimum req. without any compensation at hardware...)

Your 3D analogyse settings are ok for my config :

P III at 1000 Mhz, 256 Mo Ram, Win Xp, Geforce 2 Go (laptop) with 16 Mo ram !!

I can play smoothly with double speed at 1024*768, medium, in window mode (my screen resolution are 1024*768 too)

I've just an problem in stuadium with grass in circle, who is too fast.

I have done what Mayor wrote, followed all the 3d analyzer steps.
I have also made some of my own change in the Gefroce settings (Antialiasing Off, High Performance, 60 Hertz). I have to say, thank you for your help, the 3d analyzer did some improvement to my game, BUT it's still not perfect and has some slowdowns. My settings are: 640X480 Full Screen, Low Detail, with the latest official patch. My system: AMD athlon 1800+, Geforce2 MX400, 192RAM. Can I make the game to work perfect?

I didn't write it before: I'm NOT using Konami official patch 'cause it's crap. I tried it and it slowing my game down so I was back into my previous unpatched config (I made backup PES folder before applying patch)

Do you play at 60 Hz refresh rate ? Hmm, as Cross21 wrote "(...) What u shouldn't DO: 60Hz Refreshrate fix for this games ( a month u play like this, next one u will buy a glasses!). (...)"

also you didn't write about double speed, do you use it ?

I could play 640x480x Low with double speed near smoothly before I used 3D Analyzer... with it I can play how I wrote above (much better res & details)

Important: what I wrote was just small piece of Cross21 solution in his first post which work for me well enough. I wish to play at 1024x768x High Detail x 24 bit super smoothly but I don't understand the rest part of advises
If someone want to have better performance compare to present with 3D Analyzer (very good but always could be better), may try the rest of Cross methods written in his first post and write them once again with points (eg. using List tags, color tags etc.) and maybe some screenshots, more understable for average forum users.

I don't use double speed, when i use it on low detail mode it's going fast as hell so i keep it off. As for the Hertz settings, i've tried both 60 and 70, 60 works better for me. But i'm still sure there is a way to make it works perfect with my geforce crap, as the game is running fine most of the time. But i don't think using speed up programs is a good idea, as it makes the game working un-natural.

oh if I play on 3D Analyzer & double speed at 640x480x Low so naturally is they'll be running like Dwain Chambers so I play at 800x600 Medium or High and it works fine (with smooth replays too)
why don't you just set higher resolution and detail level ?

good, it's nice to hear the problem is solved. but I still have problems (infact, I'm even worser from where I'm started!) although I followed the steps. first, I'd like to give my configuration:

MSI 6566E MainBoard
Celeron 1.7
Leadtek Geforce4 MX 460 (which can be the victim of a most gruesome violation in near future)
512 MB DDR ram (266MHz I think)
40GB seagate harddrive
WinXP without service pack
53.03 NVidia Drivers
Creative Live 5.1
DirectX9.0b
pes.exe v1.0 currently
antialiasing, vsync (off of course)
running the game on 98/me compatibility (before everything screwed up)

I read and followed the instructions of Cross21 from the beginning except the ones about the BIOS and the registry (I must say that adjusting virtual memory screwed up my comp.). I even found and installed detonator 41.09 drivers.

I have been working on this at about 7 hours (it's true I swear) without a break, so forgive any misspelled word or forgotten thing. I have tried everything including the rivatuner - 3danalyzer, refreshlock, simply everything in this forum thread and nothing helped me. infact; something helped me about 4 hours ago, It kind of worked smoothly on 800x600 medium detail with double speed (I think with mayor's specs with the patch 1.30.100 and no compatibility), but it was still slowing down when I got closer to penalty areas so I kept working on, and now the in-game always starts with 10 fps (observed with fraps) and no change in that even if the resolution and/or detail level is changed. so Cross21 if you can speed up the game, I can slow it down succesfully, konami can ask my help on this occasion. )

now what should I do, I also uninstalled-reinstalled the game (of course not intensive so much, I installed on the same directory, with the same option file) but it was useless, still the same damned 10 fps. I'm cryin' out for help. hear me.

I know a little thing about fps, just the frame per second. but which setting is good, I have no idea. I've set all my refresh lock rates in all resolutions - color depths to 60. I definitely did something wrong, but don't know what it is. I'd like to have some instructions, but please this time more explaining and detailed to avoid further questions, like instructing something to an idiot (that's what I am indeed). wish you patience and good luck with me .

Hmmm, your spec is almost the same as me...your better though. I use MSI 6380E. , forceware53.03,420MX,512DDRam333 (PLEASE Change the memory setting, all those setting are ESSENTIALLY needed if u want to call it 'cross21fix', in some cases just using some changes can bring up good performance too but more various result will occured).

I never told u too use RefreshLock., use NVIDIA refreshRate Fix Mk II instead. U must realized that did all those things in a clean environment, after re-installing XP (yes, it was dedicated for pes3 at first, becuz 98se that I use to play games is not updated that cause exiting pes3 problem).

If u still got problem, I'll give u the low-level registry setting of the tweaked 460 (if u want to try n desperate) that I created the changing with WPCREDIT and WCPRSET from H-oda.com.

BTW, Please USE the step in my NVIDIA refresh rate fix first after installing XP, then try the first page.

Something strange.
My game speed is changing by switching stadiums !
at some stadiums it runs fine (90% good, not perfect !) and some it runs 50% good.. i still can't figure out how to fix it

now I'll try to explain my problems as straight as I can be and I'm sure these will help other people.


first of all, I couldn't make NVidia Refresh Rate Fix (MKII v2.21f E) run properly hence it says:

"a detonator driver was found, though it does not support the new compressed mode format. Please obtain the newest official 'Nvidia Detonator Driver' from www.nvidia.com"

my drivers are official enough and I tried with both 41.09 and 53.03, and there's no change. I think you should send me the low-level registry settings for tweaked 460 with an explanation how to install/change of course


on the other hand, memory settings. I found an address for 'IoPageLockLimit' in the registry in memory management, but I don't know how to edit it (infact I'm scared to do something wrong), should I write the value (65536) directly with decimal option marked, or what (it's 0 currently)?. (I have no problems with virtual memory settings, I can handle it.)


and another thing, BIOS settings. no problem with LOAD HIGH PERFORMANCE SETTING of course . but as far as I can remember, I could only found the fsb setting which was set to 100 and PCI latency which was already 32. I couldn't find the other options (AGP Aperture, 32-bit data transfer, 1st write and read, AGP read synchronization, AGP fastwrite).. also, I'd like to ask what is VIA 4-in-1, is it prior to uninstall that?


also, I don't think all of these people who made it succesfully through your 'patch' re-installed the windows xp before applying your explanations, so I want permission to save this option for the last chance . I mean I'd do everything, try all the options and then if it doesn't run, then I will re-install XP. I don't want to deal with installing all programs again, but PES3 worth this for sure.
