I knew our team was good but THIS GOOD! it all comes together finally. For years now van Basten was talking about a long term plan and that he would stun the footballworld at the Euro 08 and we did that already by beating the world champions and the 2nd in line France!
France had chances but our keeper is the best in the world Edwin van der Sar stopped most tries and that's pure class.
The goals from Wesley, van Persie and Robben were brilliant IMO and the move that Ruud made prior to Robin's goal was amazing

Oh and after the match van Basten said that we always play to win and this won't change against Romania sorry guys

Funny how things changed, first of we were outsiders to win the title and now according to the bookies our country is favourite nr 1 to win the title, 2nd is Portugal. We have a score to settle with Portugal after the WC in 2006 so I'm hoping we get a chance to play against them.

France and Italy are old and slow blablabla and I want to see Holland against a team that scores first in the game and then what...??? Lots of our players can score goals and they showed that this week. Only Wesley scored twice, the other goals were made by different players.

Thnx, beaten by Germany?? I don't think so, nobody could stop the Dutch at the moment. Both World Cup Finalst where defeatend with 3 goals difference.

F*ck me, I just returned from a two week holiday in Portugal with some friends yesterday. I only saw the last quarter of the game but it was great. What a tournament so far. Beating both world cup finalists with a margin of three is unbelievable. If you had said that to me before the tournament I would've declared you crazy.

It's funny how everybody was down after the bad performances against the likes of Luxembourg and the tough draw, but again we survived the group of death in two games just like two years ago. This time with much better football though. On to the quarter finals now, I'm very excited to see what is going to happen to Oranje in the rest of this EC. 20 years later, can it happen? Well let's not get to excited yet.

Oh and I do think we should treat the Romania match just like any other match. We can rest some of our best players ofcourse, but letting Romania win only to make France and Italy drop out is not really showing sportmanship. I don't think any team should ever go into a game to lose.

Indeed the Dutch have performed well in an attacking sense, but I still hold reservations about their defence in a situation where they come up against the pace of say Torres and Villa. I would like to see them play against a team like Spain, and if they can get past them then they will be deserved finalists.

I also hope they DO put out a second team versus Romania, after earning creditable draws against BOTH France and Italy I would like to see them advance.

Like the one in the World Cup?!! That was one of hell of a game as far as refereeing and cards was concerned!!
The situation with Holland is a bit similiar with Argentina in the WC. Lets hope Van Basten doesn't make the same mistakes that Pekerman did regarding tactical substitutions or team selection.

That might be a wee bit arrogant of him to say. I mean, Italy/France will surely be better against Netherlands if the two teams play again, they'll be more composed and play a tighter game so would you really wanna play them in the knockout stage? I think Ireland or Norn Ireland or someone and some other team 'threw a game' because they'd both be through from their group. I don't think this is illegal if it's between the players on the field, if there's no money involved, etc. If I were the Dutch, I'd let the Romanians bang a few in

I know that most people don't think like this but for me it's the smart thing to do no matter how 'stupid' it seems. They can go out and play in the 2nd half, would make a funny news story too.

And let's not get ahead of ourselves, Luis Aragones is the worse manager here, not Domenech.

Luis Aragones is not a bad manager. He is a good tactician and fairly competent, however he is just OLD!, old and really kind of senile and he hates the media, so there....

What I like about this Dutch side is the rather non-chalant attitude of their football, when France started to close the nooze around them, what do they do? they bring in two offensive players and sell out for the quick counter....you are either going to score three which they did or you're going to concede three. But they dont care, they play a happy brand of football and that is something they must be commended by...they along with Portugal and Spain (wacht Croatia) are playing the prettiest football in Europe at the moment...
