These americans know how to play football, after all! (H)

Sure the tactical pragmatism it's still lacking a bit... but they sure have some talents in their squad, and they're starting to blossom to the World... and some of them are relatively young!

in my opinion the ref did a good job, the first 2 red cards were good calls (i didn't see when he gave the 3rd red card), now i dont understand how anybody can think that is a yellow card!!!, since the player went directly towards the leg of the opponent and could of badly injured him very easily (i actually was surprised he wasn't injured).
and beasleys goal was offside, some americans in this board should think before typing, because it looks like they don't know sh!t about football.

To be fair, I think a lot of those statements were made in the heat of the moment, you know what thats like man, you just want to shoot everyone. After a while and a few replays things calm down and opinions might change somewhat. As they generally have I think.

The ref was still :sb9: though

Brilliant match. I take my hat off to the USA national team, great performance and they outplayed Italy at times, even with one man down. Best game of the WC so far to me.

nothing. I just think that your statement was too general. The U.S played well but didn't deserve a win or a tie for that matter. 1-0 for Italy was the fair result here IMO. :sun:

Plz, someone tell me i didn't read this... :|

yeah your right, im new here so i need some time to get used to it.
and **** espn to go so low as to dig up dirt on the ref, and for those talking about corruption in italy should shut the **** up since the US isn't a corruption free country.

Yes, the MLS is rife with scandal. You're retarded.

Yeah, you didn't...

But this draw against Italy was far more convincing than winning against a disapointing and distressed Portuguese side, or than that draw against Korea... although, you had a good win against Mexico...

In this game, USA not only draw, but for me, they played a bit better than Italy...

Congrats to the US of A that was some performance last night against Italy :clapwap:
9 men against 10 and still managed to keep the 1-1 on the scoringboard, Italy is hurt believe me and tomorrow the Gazetta Della Sport will speak SHAME of it. That de Rossi got it coming with is ellbow that was down right blatant what he did out of frustration and he deserved to be sent off.
USA could've finished it of a couple of times, if Mc Bride would not have tried to play the ball or smth like that, the goal from Beasley would've been allowed too bad. The arrogance of the Italians keep surprising me I have to say, the mentality before the game even started, underestimating the Americans who showed to be a good team if they want to. Landon Donovan is one of the best with Mc Bride and Reyna but Convey is a new man on the block and he played well.
Curious to see how this develops in the group, Italy needs to lick it's wounds and face Czech Republic can't wait for that after the Ghana beating.

This WC is getting more exciting with eich match :mexican:

37 fouls and 3 red crads, Italy underperforming, USA...well performing, an ok goal and a lousy own goal... yeah definately best game thus far. Hey Pede the ref was great, he made all the right calls and allowed the play to flow without taking to much out of the game but more importatnly kept his cool and was always in control, so what are you talking about?

He's entitled to his opinion. My favorite match so far is T&T vs. Sweden, which had no goals at all. Today's game had a lot of drama. Three red cards, an own goal, a disallowed goal, US coming back from a goal down, a reversal of fortunes (playing a man up, then a man down in the second half), the underdog upsets one of the World Cup favorites while playing a man down in the second half. YOu don't see that every day.

I don't think many consider the US underdogs, especially under Bruce Arena. I wouldn't call this a classic, too much negativity to balance out what ever positive came out. But you're right it isn't something you see very often. However despite this game, for me I think this is the most exciting group to watch because anyone can still come out on top and its way too close to call... very evenly matched teams.

newbie original

We apologize for keeping the yellow too long
Yellow Card
Toni could have sealed passage through but missed a sitter....I can see the US causing Ghana a few problems..If this kind of quality effort is put up, that one will be a tough game for the Africans for sure.
