Got my hands on Fifa 05 on Xbox
Didn't believe it until I got it in my hot, well not little hands on it.
(traded Fifa 03 and 04 plus $39.95 for it, well I wasn't going to play them anymore, and they have both gone classic)
I have only played about 6 games, but to me a has the same kinda feel as 2004.
I guess it will take a bit of time to get used to the new first touch control, and I still find it a lot harder to defend, maybe I am playing Benitez's zonal defence
The career mode seems to make a lot more sense this year, and runs for 15 seasons. You start off as a new manager of a 2nd division team, I chose Leyton Orient because I remember them when I used watch them play Watford.
You now have a backroom staff of 8 and you can allocate them points that you earn each game, from memory you have:
Striker Coach - improves skill of strikers
Midfield Coach - improves skill of midfield
Defensive Coach - improves skill of defenders
Goalkeeper Coach - improves skill of keeper
Fitness - boost and maintain fitness levels
Medical - helps recovery time for injured players
Financial - helps boost finances for transfer market
Scout - can alert you to prospective players.
You get 100 points to start and allocate them in 5 point increments, and when one of your staff get to 100 their level goes up ( they start at level 0)
You also have a % rating on your perormance, and get awarded more points an bonuses for wins or leading the league, cup runs etc, plus the samesort of targets like getting promoted.
I haven't dabbled in the transfer market yet, I don't seem to have many funds, such is the life of a 2nd division manager.
Corners are still the same, but I will see if I can change that with the set plays.
Training is back so a chance to hone your one touch skills, and get more efficient at OTB ( I always seem to be pressed for time)
It still doesn't quite look the same as PES but could be the difference between the PC and Xbox, becuase Fifa 2005 players still seem to emit that Chernobyl Glow . So I will probably also get PES4, although PES 3 stopped me playing Fifa last year, even if it was a bit laggy on the PC and had such ****e commentary.
