Sorry to crash this thread a little, but I don't want to start another one (as I've cluttered up this forum enough I think), but could someone go over how to start a new game again as far as picking leagues, size, and details go.

ok i explained (in fairly good detail) on the first page of this thread. However, always pick full detail for the league you want to primarily play in, and select leagues you either like or want to manage in in the future. E.g. I often pick Spain/Portugal, not because i want to manage there but because i like to follow the results and they have some great players there.

Size is the DB size, if you have a computer with the RAM of the gods, then go for huge, otherwise large/medium is fine. It simply means you dont get as many players, so its harder to find future stars.

@Theo:

Well done on the Roma result, as for Cuneaz. A central midfielder has to be good physically, and cuneaz isnt bad, also, he'll probably improve somewhat. However to be honest he isnt special. Technically he isnt woeful, passing 10 is pretty bad and his first touch will really let him down. Good tackling is let down by bad marking so again, he isnt that good technically. Aerially he isnt good, heading and jumping really need to be better for an MC. His work rate is good, but its let down by his hillariously bad determination as Cody pointed out.

Frankly, that will always let him down, it doesnt matter if he gets better technically and physically, the determination will ALWAYS let him down. Hate to say this Theo but im not sure he's gonna be a big star for the future, but, as Shifty said, try throwing him into the odd first team game and seeing how he does. Hell, do that with all your youngsters from time-to-time.

Oh and a tip, always get your scouts to scout youngsters first, if they say "he has no future in proffesional football" you can pretty much bet hes gonna be **** :p

I'll just do as you said, throw him from time to time in the first squad.
So what about this one? He started in all of the reserve team's matches. Also, the scout said he needs games so he can improve.

So if I do a huge database will it only take forever to load at the start, or every time I press continue?

I like him a lot, he's only just turned 18 and he's already looking half decent.

He has the basic physical stats to be good at LB, and jumping isnt TOO important in that position. His defensive stats are all starting to look pretty good, apart from maybe anticipation that needs to improve a tad. Crossing and dribbling are already pretty decent which makes him half-good going forward. Off the ball and passing are by far the most disapoitning of the stats, and i'd say passing is so important that you may want to improve his "attacking" training (which i believe passing is part of).

Good prospect.

from what i know, the game will be slow all the time because it is having to work out what each "player" is doing every single continue, but if im being honest im not terribly sure.

yea what Tom is saying is the logical answer that from my experience is true (Y)

When it comes to youngsters, just give him the odd game and see how he performs. Don't over-analyse his stats (no offense Tom :p) because in my experience you can get players with average stats that perform immensley well. Having said that, good stats are incredibly important.

Started a new career after I installed the 6.0.3 patch and a patch that for Italy (kits, pictures, logos, etc.), with the same team, of course :). I'm using the same formation as in the previous game (http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/6770/juveformationfm068qy.jpg, but without the two lines on Mutu and Camoranesi), and the tactics are mostly the same, except for the offside trap, I don't play it anymore.
I'll make Mutu learn how to play AMR so I can rotate him with Camoranesi and maybe I'll get Samir Nasri from Olympique Marseille (AML&AMC) so I can rotate him with Nedved, and after the czech man retires, I'll buy a sub for Samir. And I might also buy a young centre-back or use the buy option for Gladstone, I'll decide later. Updates from the pre-season matches are to follow.

I'm winning 3-0 away to Udine now (67'), I'll edit this post with a screenie containing all my results until now.
And yeah, Nasri is an amazing player.

Edit: Ok, photos are uploaded. You can see my latest results there and aswell as my formation. That was the 4-3-2-1 I was talking about and it's pretty offensive I'd say. Anyway, as you can see, I'm not using my best players since most of them are injuried or really tired so the game against Fenerbahce will be more like an experiment and if they do well then I know I can count on my subs.

no need to start a new game when installing a patch or graphics btw, you can continue the old save (if you want... (H))

I know but I wanted anyway to start another game (installed the with-data patch so I wanted the latest rosters too). So any comments on the formation? I want to keep it like that but any tips for some specific special individual settings (like how to set my AMCs so I get full advantage of them)?

(H)!!

Trezeguet with his first goal this season after he's been injuried for 3 months (game had him injuried already)! Too bad Ibrahimovic missed that penalty, it would have been a shoking win. My boys were awesome! (6)

great win, in my game zlatan hardly ever plays, and i'm dying to get him, but it's just impossible getting him out of juve..

In my game Zlatan can play like 10 consecutive games without being subbed once and still has the best fitness out of my whole squad. Anyway, he's one of my best players in terms of stats but I don't know how can Mutu have the best season average when he's entering as a sub or when he plays 3 or 4 full matches out of 8.

Seriously Seven, play Nedved in your first 11. He's fecking awesome for at least 2 more seasons. :)

I play him pretty often, rotating him with Chiellini or even Mutu.
By the way, Juventino, strange fact: I started playing the same exact formation (4-3-2-1) that Italy used, against Germany, 2 weeks ago and it's working fine for me. But the strange thing is that it's doing wonders for me aswell as for the Azzurri :). Seems like Lippi is visiting SG pretty often (H).

Heh. :D

Nedved tore it apart here! In the first 3 years in FM he got into the Serie A team of the year, and a few times in the CL Dream Team, even after 08/09. He retired in the summer of 2009... now he's my physio. Del Piero is one of my coaches. :p

This game is sooo customizable. I have already installed a Serie A mega-patch on it + some backgrounds config from Juventino (almost each Juve player has a wallpaper of him when I check his profile, each competition has one, etc.), have a skin that I love and I'm now downloading some super-patches for Bundesliga, Ligue 1, La Liga & Premiership. That sums it up really, makes you a lot enthusiastic (sp?) when playing :D.
