ok i explained (in fairly good detail) on the first page of this thread. However, always pick full detail for the league you want to primarily play in, and select leagues you either like or want to manage in in the future. E.g. I often pick Spain/Portugal, not because i want to manage there but because i like to follow the results and they have some great players there.
Size is the DB size, if you have a computer with the RAM of the gods, then go for huge, otherwise large/medium is fine. It simply means you dont get as many players, so its harder to find future stars.
@Theo:
Well done on the Roma result, as for Cuneaz. A central midfielder has to be good physically, and cuneaz isnt bad, also, he'll probably improve somewhat. However to be honest he isnt special. Technically he isnt woeful, passing 10 is pretty bad and his first touch will really let him down. Good tackling is let down by bad marking so again, he isnt that good technically. Aerially he isnt good, heading and jumping really need to be better for an MC. His work rate is good, but its let down by his hillariously bad determination as Cody pointed out.
Frankly, that will always let him down, it doesnt matter if he gets better technically and physically, the determination will ALWAYS let him down. Hate to say this Theo but im not sure he's gonna be a big star for the future, but, as Shifty said, try throwing him into the odd first team game and seeing how he does. Hell, do that with all your youngsters from time-to-time.
Oh and a tip, always get your scouts to scout youngsters first, if they say "he has no future in proffesional football" you can pretty much bet hes gonna be ****
