How do you like the DEMO?

Although the game seems to be very good, this demo will not force me to buy the game, because I don't see the real quality and perfomance of PC version...

After downloading the demo raptor, putting better resolution and playing a 20 minute game without seeing the annoying EA info screen, I have changed my mind a bit.
The graphics look better on good resolution, pretty game.
Corners are really cool, but I dont like the new freekicks style.
The replies are cool too.
Gameplay is ok.

What a shít game, the graphics are awful, the gameplay is even more shít. Players off the ball run slower then my grandma, red cards for a silly tackle, no card for a very big fool. EA dissapointed me again! No fifa this year for me!

Could you guys be a lot more descriptive with your answers? If you are hating the game, please explain the reasons why and don't just cuss at it...

I'm one of the people who has a mac and wont' be able to play the demo unless I invade my friends house, so any detailed description of the game, especially gameplay, as well as how it should be compared to WE/PES is greatly welcomed.

Sorry for not being able to play... I'm almost passing out for that reason.

Please make some intelligent comments about the game.

thanks,

What a waste Mano... the game's really cool....

The gameplay has improved tremendously... You def can score from outside the box... during free kicks (indirect) you have 4 options to choose from 1. Drive 2. Curve towards near post 3. curve towards far post 4. Can't rem

once you've chosen, the numbers 1,2,3 will appear above 3 of your forwards... then as you play the ball in.. your chosen player (1,2 or 3) will run as you control (Thru the directional button)... it's so different from the past where you wait for the ball to come to you..now you run and meet the ball.... Yeah!!!

The tackles are cool.. ha ha... David's was crazily swinging his legs when he couldn't get the ball....

Mano.. you've gotta try it man.... Cheers!

*do download the demo expander... it's great!*

Ok, as the resident Konami fanboy I'll give you an honest opinion of what I think of the demo so far:

1 - A DEFINITE improvement over last year without question.
2 - The nets are still unrealistic in their movement and looking at the goals I'm pretty sure they are too small to be in scale with the players.
3- The heads look a little large!
4 - The reaction of the players is a great improvement in terms of speed.
5 - No heading crisis yet which is a HUGE plus.
6 - Movement off the ball seems a lot better although defensively you have to question the positioning of players at times (this is also true for PES3/WE7 though).
7 - Shooting is a little too fast, even the slow shots are about what a normal hard shot would be.
8 - The deflections are a little too fast as the ball would not accelerate away faster than the original speed the ball travelled at.
9 - The graphics are very good. Top notch. The faces have great details and the uniforms are beautiful.
10 - The refereeing seems very random. There hasn't been any consistency at all in the games I've played.
11 - Collision mapping isn't very accurate at times.
12 - I like the cut scenes, very nice.
13 - Crowd sounds are great.
14 - The atmosphere is very good, almost nothing could be improved in this area.
15 - Passing is a 100% improvement over last year.

Overall, impressive. I will buy the game based upon this demo unles I find serious gameplay issues over the next few days. A good job and definitely a step in the right direction. It still doesn't play with the fluidity of WE7/PES3 and it doesn't have the "feel" yet that the Konami titles have but EA have buried the ghost of FIFA 98 and I'd say this is their best FIFA title to date. If they improve this next year too then there will be very little to choose between EA and Konami in terms of gameplay.

Good job EA. I'm impressed.

Ok.. i'm impressed with the demo so far..
best feature IMO is holding down the L2 button while standing still(for Logitech Rumblepads) to control the ball closely then flicking the right analog stick.. the player will perform cool stepovers while remaining in his position, just like most wingers do.. good job EA

i still have my reservations about the shooting and GK system as i haven't managed to get many shots in yet but i managed to score a couple of goals from outside the box - one of which my grandma could have saved... but i hope it's just the difficulty setting.

OTB control... well of course i still didn't get the hang of it but my first impressions is that it's exactly what was promised - you can take full control of the player with the right analog stick then either lob or pass the ball to him... However the player seems to move freely without any defender marking him.. i REALLY hope that's a difficulty setting issue as well.

Corners - looking good

FK's - i was only awarded one FK so far so can't really judge now

Crossing - looks improved this year, no more automatic goals

apart from that it has the general feel of FIFA 2003 with most of the bugs taken care of (most importantly you can actually header the ball now :rockman:

Final verdict - yep i'm definitely buying it... EA have finally produced a game that's at least comparable to PES.

hope that was helpful for those who didn't get the demo yet (if any) :)

Thanks guys... Your deeper comments have helped me get really frustated and excited at the same time...

frustrated because unless I invade my friends house, who is probably in class now I won't be able to play the demo since I own a Mac. and excited because most of the comments are good comments about FIFA.

PLEASE, keep 'em coming!!! The more, the better!!!

And please intelligent comments...

thankss....... IIII WWWWAAAANNNAAAA PPPPLLLLAAAAAYYYYY!!!!!!

yea forgot to mention that my goalie actually saved a goal-bound freekick from Seedorf :rockman:
unlike in 2003 where he would just stand there and watch the ball go
it was an awesome save as well... tipped the ball for a corner kick at full stretch, very realistic.. good stuff

Ok here is what I think.

Firstly, the gameplay has been improved but still nowhere near the quality of WE7. The responsiveness of the players are still somewhat lacking and the acclaimed ' organic motion ' doesnt impress me.

The passing is satisfactory but could be further improved. The players seem to stick rigidly to the formation; 4-4-2 diamond i think? It is rather difficult to exploit the wings and the play seems to be cramped up in the middle of the park.

Tackling-wise I have been impressed because the sliding and contact point of tackle look very realistic. Falls made by the players are believable.

OTB - this seems very difficult to manuveore on a keyboard; I would rather play as per normal.

Heading - has gone back to the pre-2003 days. Better and more refined. However, I dont like the look of the new corner-taking because it seems unnatural and forced.

Nets are still rigid and hardly barge. I seriously wonder wat is so difficult about making the nets move? Come on EA, if you cant even get this one right..

Even the crossing seems to be rather awkward because the ball seems to be looped high into the air and then plummet straight down - in other words the ball movement and physics are not convincing.

Like in fifa 2003, there are signs of the 'ping-pong' movement. Even tho a serious effort has been made in an attempt to slow the gameplay, the ball moves around at lightning speeds occasionally by quickly tapping the pass button. This results in quick passing which is unrealistic to the eye.

Now, 25-yard scorchers can be easily executed into the top corners of nets. However, a serious case for concern is the shooting model - EA doesnt seem to do anything about it.

- More to Come -

Love the demo so far. The graphics can't be better on a 32 Meg demo, so I am looking forward to the real game with the full graphics. Heading is back. I'll be buying it for my PC (to play by myself) and my Xbox (to play with friends).

WOW<WOW!!!, im greatly impressed from this demo.

Firstly let me say i am a self confessed EA basher and an avid fan of iss, AND fifa(hey who says you cant have your cake and eat it)

To the people who are complaining about the quility of video and stuff in the demo..GET A GRIP<<ITS A DEMO FFS.
Its a tiny 35mb demo.
Its made to give an impresion of the gameplay and then you can just imagine it with all the amazing graphics, but if they made a demo with amazing graphics but let you imagine the gameplay then youd be ******.

IMO the game is great all the little extra features like corners, ottb all fit in perfectly to a fluid football gameing experiance. and the FEEL of the game is what impressed me more than anything,, like in ISS you could FEEL like it was a football game and a tussle between 22 players.. i always said if ea manage to recreate this for fifa then they would have turned the corner.
The first game i played on the demo was great and i was just getting used to the controls and by pure begginers luck i intercepted a pass in my own half and played a lovely wee 1-2 with davids to bolt into space in the opponents half the i seen nedved streak across me to make a half yard about 20 yard ou so slid a pass into his feet ,he took 1 touch then swerved it right into the top stantion.
Now that is something that would never happen in fifa2003 because 2003 never had the FEEl..but 04 has the FEEL so im well chuffed

Yes, I know what you mean Bh0y, this FIFA actually makes passing with a meaning and not simply passing anywhere you want simply to get passed a few dumb defenders. This time you're having to work for the goal, or that chance. Much, much better.

i've played it for a couple of hours and i'm yet to find any bug in the game! last year by this time i had already found several of them... :D

i'm loving it so far, but i'll have to play more to see if there are any serious unsolved gameplay issues :p
