Oh man....Aussies are now part of AFC (Asian Confederation) after the next world cup.

This means that South America will obviously not have the "5th" place spot next world cup.

Article is in spanish but im sure you guys can find one in english.

why's that so great, it just means it's gonna be harder for Australia to qualify, unless I'm reading that wrong. Now instead of having to play one decent team from South America, they'll have to play tough qualifying matches against several tough teams...Iran, Korea, Japan, China..

Well it's good news for the best country in the world, also we can most likely take place in the Asian Champions League, that'll be awesome.

Also Sullen we don't have to fly all the way to South America to Qualify for the WC and most of our key player's don't want to fly there, so Asia is perfect it's right on top of us.

Also who cares about the Sheep Shaggers, they can stay in Oceania. (Y) But they'll probably end up in Asia to. :(

Well in theory it's meant to make it easier for them to qualify for the world cup, but I doubt that the 5th place South American is much better than all those Asian teams they'll have to play.

Anyways if Australia aren't good enough to qualify for the world cup as things stand then they don't deserve to be there.

you guys are overestimating asian countries and underestimating south american countries. Apart from Japan (who still arent too great) they dont compare at all to teams like Uruguay, Columbia or Peru.

Let's see how South Korea do in Germany without the refs carrying them to semi's.

FFS! We are not part of AFC

It was an informal vote, it means nothing.
FIFA hasnt approved it.
Countries on the outer of qualification in 2010, the likes of China, Iran, Saudi Arabia won't want another team with the chance of taking that spot.

Plus what about OFC? And New Zealand and other nations? You think FIFA will forget about them (prob will anyway, is FIFA and OFC)

The thing is, OFC doesn't deserve a spot and if Australia goes into the AFC, what about the OFC nations?
