you have to remember though, Thatcher's a dirty **** ON the field, as he was after the incident. but after the game it's a different story

I got to agree, that sounds like me. In games I sometimes get caught up an deliberately go out to hurt people, even though after the game I will be mates with them. I always remember a game, where before my mate told me he's going to purposely injure one of the opposition, 20 minutes in he lands with two footer right on this poor mans shin, you could hear the crack from the other side of the field, anyway at first my mate got up smiling but afterwards having realised the tackle had in fact gone straight through the mans shinpad he was devastated, and was almost in tears once the ambulance arrived.

Anyway I can see why Man City have already acted, punishing him their selves may make the FA more leinent.

It's bad but not even close to what Todd Bertuzzi did.

I don't see how anyone could possibly be defending Thatcher for this nonsense (Rony, WTF? :| ) The malice is obviously there. Worse still, he gets pissed off himself and then just runs off like nothing happened. 15+ game ban for me, especially considering he's done some sh*t like this before.

Ban his ass for the rest of the season.

Of course he's gonna say sorry, it's all about publicity. The way he walked away, acting like he did nothing shows you what kinda person he really is. He would never do something like that on the street 'cause he knows his ass would get arrested... on the field he knows he has a chance of getting away with it.

Does not make it anymore right that he felt sorry afterwards. BTW you and your friend are d!cks. I have never gone in on someone with the intent to hurt them, imagine if someone is to do that to you and end your playing days. Seriously, I hate playing against people like you :sb9:

If he gets banned for the rest of the season, that would be great (Y)

Shifty, I'm gonnae come out and say I've done what your mate has done. Although the result not as extreme as a leg break, the intent to hinder another player's performance is there. Big Ron calls it "putting the reducers" on a player. I can guarantee it's been mentioned at almost every level in the game, certainly domestically in Britain.

People condemning what Shifty's friend did should consider this: A lot of players, playing for teams a lot of you support have both dived, exaggerated injury and subsequently tried to get a player booked by making a carding gesture to the ref. Tell me that's not sinister. Honestly, the way people talk about football these days as if it's a non-contact sport is unbelievable. Now, we could all see that Thatcher clearly intended to collide with Mendes and put him on his arse. But these things happen in football all the time.

Watch La Liga games, I think it quite possibly is a non-contact sport outside of Britain. (:/)

Churchill wasn't far off being a nazi mate. He was an extreme right wing bigot just like the pratt with the quote. Which was exactly why the quote was there, and you condoned it, like it was smart. Maybe your post implied something that you did not mean to imply, but how was the fella to know that. I thought the same thing when I read your post too.
