why is my thread funny?

in the link I also express my views on how crap FIFA is and i point out all its flaws.

all I have done here is point out PES3's flaws.

But it seems that you guys live in a bubble where PES3 is flawless and dont want to see the BIG Picture here.

The most realistic footie game on the PC is CM03_04, even though you dont get to play any football!

:hump:

you say you have pointed out the flaws in pes but you havent really have you, how can you say a game is crap when you have only played a demo?

Its made by people who actually love the sport of Football.

After watching Boca Junior vs Independiente, Wimbledon vs Bradford, UEFA Champions League on Sky Sports, Serie A on Eurosport, this game comes close enough to being a true football game.

Who said this game was flawless? Nostradamus, wake up mate!

And yes, I'm hoping to get my copy of CM0304 early tommorow downtown before Friday. :ewan:

ok Prophet, you say 1.shooting bad 2.momentum bad 3.player models bad 4. tackling bad

ok 1. You didn't play long enough to see how good the shooting is, you cant blast a top corner if you have someone pressuring you or if you are running head on towards the box , because this is difficult in real life as well, shooting requires a good shooting player and good positioning for the most part.
2. If you are sprinting, the players will continue to run in same direction when u try to turn around, if you didnt notice, and then will turn around after a few seconds. try it , go run outside at full speed and then try to turn around all of a sudden, you dont need that much time unless ur fat.
3. I agree to some extent, their legs are kinda too big but other than that they are no worse than fifa models.
4.Tackling is very accurate, again you gotta play it for hours and hours to realize how realistic it is. You need good positioning, timing and speed. You cant always be sprinting cause the computer will just turn you around in a second u chase him around the field the whole game, thats one of the first things i learned playing this game.

im sorry but thats rubbish, the tackling isnt very accurate at all. ive lost count of the number of times ive clearly got the ball and a foul has been give, some of the decisions and also the collision detection is appalling at times. its one area i hope they improve on for the next one

sounds like you got more a problem with the ref than the tackling system...

Personally I certainly do...I don't think the tackling is at all bad...but the ref is just too sensitive...hopefully its due to the ref in the demo....

I Want a Fair Answer From All the Die HARD PES Fans:

What do you see realistic in PES3?

Please let me know, as I cannot see it. Me & My friend downloaded the demo, had a look at it, and couldn't stop laughing. Mind you, we are hardcore players if ISS2 on PS1.

The tackling is awful, shooting is crap (its like shooting a medicine ball), the lob is useless, players run like they are on SPEED (its a drug if you didnt know), player models are awful, etc, etc.

Yet it is considered to be the most realistic football simulation!?

How?

To make a point, I hate FIFA2004, it is a waste of HD space, so I am not making a biased comparison. I was looking for a decent footie game on the PC and had a look at both FIFA and PES, and they are both crap in my opinion.

Please enlighten me with your thoughts!

Why dont u practice, shooting is not crap. The game is very fluent and is quite amazing. When u get used to it u will see new things. I am pretty good (also at PES kid...muaha) and i love long rangers which is possible but very very difficult to perform...so back to school (in double sense kid)...muaha:f***: :-paul: :fluffy: :lui: :-puke:

yeah i suppose it is the ref more than the actually tackling, lets hope they sort it out. some outrageous fouls arent even picked up and then the most innocent of challenges can be red carded :(

'bout the ref. Previous versions of WE/PES seemed to be accurate to me on certain occasions.

Example being, you could time your slide ahead of a dribbler. So, you see youreself sliding in the path the dribbler is heading. He eventually reaches your slide (not being able to turn) your legs catch the ball, and, at times, even make physical contact with the dribbler after your first touch with the ball. In previous WE/PES, the ref would not make the call, unless you're extremely unlucky. In the PES3 Demo, the ref always gives a foul!!? I'd be sitting there talking to myself, "But I touched the ball first!!"

Anybody see this?

Re: Im new to PES, so I got a few Q's ?!?

So you're playing ISS PE 2(hopefully you don't mean ISS2 by KCEO) and enjoying it, while you've played the PES3 demo and dislike it? To me that doesn't make sense. PES3 is just an "evolution" of the old ISS PE games, it's fundamentally the same with countless additions to the original engine. Even most of the die-hards from Evo-web agree it's time to let ISS PE go.

The bottom line is the game is a game. For it to be a simulation we'd have to sit through 90 min games, and who really wants to do that. The way to view these games is as if you're watching the 15 min highlights of a football match.

Are you using L1, R1 and R2 dribble speeds? If you think the game is too arcade like, quit barrelling along at full speed. If you keep R1 planted, the CPU will continually counter attack in the holes you've left. Build up the play slowly, watch you radar for diagonal runs then play through balls.

"How about chasing the CPU player all over the field as you cant tackle them without sliding!?"
When in defence don't sprint around like an idiot, unless you're controlling excellent defensive mids, the CPU will just play a triangle around you and cut that player out completely. If the opposition are good on the ball use your defensive formation to isolate the player carrying the ball, draw their defenders into your half and set your formation to counterattack, force them to play long balls/miracle through balls, the brilliance of this game is that you have to apply the basics of football.

Long balls - Have you tried L1 & Right analogue stick? Once you get into it you can hit some amazing cross field passes to your wingers.

Player speed is fine. Roughly time how long it takes your player to sprint the ball over 50 yards. For a professional athlete seems ok to me.

Momentum is also good. When in defence hold down R1 and sprint around, when you try and turn direction the player plants his feet, his body leans the way he has just been moving, gets his balance then takes off.
Same with turning with the ball, player waits till he is over the ball, puts his opposite foot next to the ball for balance then uses other foot to move the ball.

Player models look ok to me. It's the way they are animated that is most important/impressive though.

Fatigue - You obviously haven't played a Master League game in the pissing rain yet.

Tackling isn't perfect with some infuriating moments but 95% of my red cards have been fair calls.

Shooting, as already described is excellent. If you're off balance, running at an angle away from goal or under pressure more likely than not you're going to scuff your shot.

That's all I can be bothered typing for the moment but all this and alot more is what makes this game realistic.

Anyway, you've got to admit your initial posts paint you as a patronising arsehole :)

I find it funny that I read something like "the lob is useless", and then i go and do something like this. (right click, save as...)

Someone needs to go play the game some more, before saying something about stuff he doesn't even know about...

hmm...you're probably playingsome other game. Go into training mode, take the ball and time how long it takes you to sprint 100(approx) meters over the whole field. 14-15 seconds on average...this is exactly right...

Robert Kovac clearly got the ball in a tackle against Belgium, the ref called the foul, and Wesley Sonck scored for 1-0.

Konami should make it less frequent, but I like a little bad call here or there, I think its realistic. It does happen a little too much though, not with every ref mind you..

How'd you do that? I have a saitek p880 on the pc and would like to know what buttons you pressed for that lob.
