Impressions of 06 Videos

I know that many of you have posted your thoughts on the videos in the multimedia thread, but that should be reserved for multimedia not talk

So that it is easier to access, everyone should post their impressions in this forum. It will be much more organized since all the impressions will be in the same place.

Comment on gameplay, graphics, presentation, online, edit modes, and physics.

Everything looks good, except, with the first touch control, the ball rolls away a couple yards. I thought your first touch is supposed to be your best, and your cleanest touch.

Anyhow It looks nice, i will get is ASAP. Any release date?

The one thing i dont like are the poor defenders. They are really dumb from the video i saw. I think it was Rio or Wes, or Mikey, He could have closed down Deco, but he went back then foward then paused and allowed Deco to control the ball.

But its still a good game.

Well, I'm glad to see that the Mexican League will be in the game except that they are still ranking the Mexican teams low....

I belive it is safe to say tha the AI will not be acting like that. I have been looking at videos from early stages of fifa each season, and when they are not showing how the game will function really, but showing different consepts, the AI have always been different from those videos in the game. That being said, there is not guarantee that the defensive AI will be better...

Anyway, by the looks, it seems as if EA has listened to us, have taken self critique, and being a bit more down to earth, "only" saying that Fifa2006 will be a serious competitor to the PES series, as opposed to earlier claiming that fifa2003 was the best football game ever made.

All the features looks nice, but i want to see a match with a user vs user, a match with user vs cpu and a match with cpu vs cpu before I can really comment on gameplay. Very promising though (much more promising than I can ever remember that a new version of fifa has been).

those are XBOX version video, even thought the graphics doesn't impress me much cause to the current gen console have already reach their peak performance. hopefully PC version will have much more better graphics.

can't really judge the gameplay by those video, hopefully we're able to see more gameplay video to make futher judgement. so far, it is not too bad

the graphics are not good because they develop for the ps2 and then just port it to the xbox without upgrading graphics.. a good example of this is the difference between Madden 05 and espn 2k5 last yr.

i thought i saw a adidas ball in the game? that 1 used in confederation cup, what it called? pelias?

Two things and this is EVEN in the XBox360 clips.

The ball sticks to close to the players feet. It always looks like your dragging the ball instead of pushing it. They need to get this right. You don't DRAG a soccer ball you PUSH it.

Next animations, they need to have new running animations those look bad now, they were good throughoutsay 2004 but 2006 needed new running animations.

All in all still impressive as the moves look like they are performed better than Winning Eleven but then again I don't know how this is in practice.

Quick Note:

If Xbox360 Fifa is like that I'mm hold off til PS3 or something Cuz' it ONLY looks marginally better than WE9 even. Pfffff

I think it has more to do with the software than the hardware you will have to wait another year (07) before the developers can really focus on making a next-gen game worthy of the name, transition years between consoles are always like that (Fifa 96 for PS1 and 2001 for PS2 for ex.)

i am really surprised at fifa 06 it looks really good i love the fact that u can edit players and the new career mode where u can start with any team is also great even the ea sport boots aren't that bad looking

No they're not... wait until you see more videos. They move good this year.

And about the Xbox graphics not being better than PS2... when the game comes out, play ps2 and then play xbox and see if you still think this.

I know you said there was no guarantee, but the truth is, the defenders have always been dumb in Fifa, and it is worse if 2005. I explained what i was talking about in the other thread. There are a few glitches which i hope they cleaned up, like the fullbacks forcing attacking players inside instead of wide like they should.

Im extremely happy about the new upgraded Career Mode. You can actually sign players to contracts, and can search the transfer market by position, age, etc.. Also you can a list a player as "Transfer Listed".

The create a player looks cool too, you can even choose his goal celebration and the country he is from. You can also edit any player in the game, that is handy.

As long as the PS2 doesn't have massive slowdown and can keep up with the animations then that will be fine with me

If you read the Multimedia thread then you would have realised that the game play is all current gen. The videos do not include any next-gen footage so don't judge too early (even tho im waiting for PS3 too)
