Good display by Inter... Martins is just freagin Martins... It's nice seeing Vieri beginning to score on a consistent basis... It's also nice to see Inter in a cup final for a change... Maybe if Inter win they'll come to America this summer and they may play the Italian Super cup in Giants Stadium again... Probably just wishful thinking.

I dont think the supercup will be played in america again.

CAMBIASSO WINS 'SAN SIRO GENTLEMAN'

Argentine midfielder Esteban Cambiasso is the winner of the 2005 'San Siro Gentleman' award, an annual prize given to an Inter or AC Milan player who stands out for fair play, competitive spirit and moral values. The awards ceremony took place last night at the Marriott Hotel in Milan.

Inter Channel subscribers also chose their goal of the year and goal of the decade. Last year's San Siro Gentleman winner Adriano won the goal of 2004/05 award for his solo effort at home to Udinese, while Christian Vieri's strike against Parma at the Giuseppe Meazza in 1999/00 was voted as the best goal of the last ten years.

Sinisa Mihajlovic and Javier Zanetti (winner of numerous San Siro Gentleman awards in his ten years at Inter) were also presented with two special awards

Forza Cuchu!!! Cambiasso has been our most solid player this year, and I can't say enough good things about him. Bobo's goal against Parma (Y) what a great strike!

Inter already made a bid for Vucinic?

19.05.2005
by Damir Jovanovic

Titles in the Serbian press are “chanting” how Inter Milan has made an offer Lecce of 15,000,000 Euros for the young striker Mirko Vucinic who has played the best season in his career this year and is probably the most expensive Serbo-Montenegrin player who will be sold this summer.

The 21-year-old really surprised us all with the form he’s playing at, scoring 16 goals in 26 games out of which he started 8 from the bench. But the biggest impact lately was his equalizer in 83rd minute against AC Milan by which he probably signed off the Milano giant from the race for Scudetto.

It is interesting that this youngster came to Italy when he was just 16 years old in 2000 from Sutjeska Niksic. In his first season in Italy he came on just two league matches as a substitute. He played 7 in 2001/02 only to get a real chance a year later when he scored six goals in 28 games but in 12 he was a substitute.

Season 2002/03 wasn’t so great for him, injury here, injury there he played only 12 games and scored 1 goal, but in this season he simply blasted off the planet to Italian Serie A scorer heights being 6th striker of the league at the moment with only names like Andriy Shevchenko, Alberto Gilardino in front of him.

The rumors are pouring in by the minute while we are being linked with the usual host of players. Some notable names that I'd actually like at the club have been Vucinic, Chivu, Juan, Kuffour, among others. I'm getting excited over who will come and who will go for the offseason. BUT with all that in mind the season isn't over.

2 games left in the league, and to be honest I couldn't care less. Were in third no matter what and finishing with more points doesn't mean sh!t to me if we can jump over teams. So it's all about the Coppa Italia in June. Perhaps by then we will have already signed some free-Bs like Kuffour, or Vucinic who we have an option.

On the final, it's looking like Adriano won't be around since the Brazilan FA are hell bent on having him at the Confederations Cup.

ADRIANO DECISIVE IN GENOA
Sunday, 22 May 2005 17:04:37
GENOA - Adriano's first goal for Inter since his Champions League hat-trick against Porto in March gave the Nerazzurri a 1-0 victory over Sampdoria in Genoa, a match the Blucerchiati desperately needed to win to keep their Champions League qualifying hopes alive.

Samp dictated play for long stretches and twice hit the woodwork through Pisano and Kutuzov in the first half. But Inter soaked up the pressure and hit their opponents on the break six minutes before the break when Julio Cruz fed the ball through to Adriano, who sidestepped Antonioli then slotted into an open goal to score his 26th goal in all competitions this season.

Novellino's men continued to create chances after the restart and went closest when substitute Edusei rattled the post with a long-range screamer. Inter's best chance of increasing their lead fell to Dejan Stankovic, whose volley from a Martins cross in the final minute was blocked by Samp defender Pisano.

I'm ecstatic for the team. We went to Genoa with nothing to play for, and shut down a team that had everything to play for!!! A bit of luck helped with 3 of Samp's shots hitting the post/crossbar.

Stankovic had a great game today, and Mancini played Dino Marino for about 10 minutes at the end of the game as a wide midfielder.

Back to the San Siro to face Reggina next week and then the Coppa!!

Davids ready to move home
by Jeffrey Glorie - created on 25 May 2005

Internazionale midfielder Edgar Davids has admitted he would not discount a return to the Netherlands - with Ajax and AZ Alkmaar ready to move for his services.

Davids has failed to nail down a regular starting berth under Roberto Mancini at the Giuseppe Meazza and is reportedly ready to move on.

The 32-year-old emerged as a target for Ajax last month, while AZ are also said to be keeping a close eye on developments, and Davids says he would not discount a return to his former club.

Louis van Gaal is set to take charge of AZ in the summer and Davids has a solid relationship with the coach, which could place the Alkmaar club in pole position if the midfielder opts to return home.

"I don't exclude anything for the future," he told AT5 when asked about the possibility of moving to AZ. "And also not Ajax."

Ajax, meanwhile, have extended the contracts of teenage twins, Niklas and Henrik Moisander.

Niklas, a defender, and goalkeeper Henrik arrived at the club from Finnish side TPS Turku and have impressed with the youth team.

damn, considering how Davids turned around Barca's season last year, and his qualities all over, i expected that he'd have a big role in Inter, helping the defense alot by breaking counterattacks...

He had a chance, he got injured, and by the time he returned Inter had already found their good midfield setup and had no use for Davids. Then he got hurt again :nape:

However he does play in our friendly games against Serie C teams :jambo:

Davids is excess goods. It's definately time for him to go. Shame really, since I thought he'd be big with us, but his injuries and the awesome play of Cambiasso simply killed his chances.

Our next [pointless] game is against Reggina on Sunday. Last game of the season, and with us locked in 3rd this game means nothing to me. But I guess it is a good preparation for the Coppa Italia finals since Mancini is forced to test out not having Il Capitano, Adriano, Cambiasso, and Kily.

16 YOUNGSTERS IN FIRST TEAM SINCE 1999
Saturday, 28 May 2005 14:54:34

MILAN - Over the past six seasons (from 1999/00 to 2004/05) no less than sixteen young Nerazzurri have made the jump from youth academy to first team.

In 1999/00 Nello Russo made his first-team debut, followed by Nicola Beati and Carlo Trezzi the following season. Salvatore Ferraro made his debut in 2001/02, when Inter Primavera won the Carnival Cup and National Championship, but his teammates didn't have long to wait as Obafemi Martins, Giovanni Pasquale, Mario Rebecchi, Alessandro Potenza, Nicola Napolitano, Alessandro Franchini and Wellinton Pinto Fraga all had their first taste of action with the big boys in 2002/03.

Last year it was the turn of Alex Cordaz and Isah Eliakwu, while this season Dino Marino, Paolo Hernan Dellafiore and Riccardo Meggiorini have all played for Mancini's Inter.

And tomorrow it could be the turn of Marco Andreolli, Tijani Belaid, Fabrizio Biava, Simone Fautario and Matteo Momentè, all called up to Roberto Mancini's squad for the Serie A Week 38 match at home to Reggina. (Y)

Saturday, 28 May 2005 15:01:48
MILAN - Nerazzurri defender Nicolas Burdisso has sent a letter to Inter to thank the club for its support during a particularly difficult time which saw him forced to return to Argentina to sort out a serious personal problem.

Burdisso writes: "Through this letter I want to thank the club, the boss and my teammates for their support in this difficult time for me and my family. I returned to Argentina four months ago because of a serious personal problem. When this situation is over I hope to rejoin the team and return to my normal life. Thanks again. Nicolas Burdisso".
