BRAZIL RELEASE ADRIANO FOR CUP 1ST LEG
Wednesday, 01 June 2005 02:00:01

MILAN - Through its official website CBFNEWS, the Brazilian FA has announced that Adriano will be available to Inter for the Coppa Italia TIM final first leg against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico on 12 June. Called up to the Brazil squad for the Confederations Cup in Germany from 15 to 19 June, the player has been given permission to arrive at the Brazil retreat in Leverkusen on 13 June.

On joining up with his teammates yesterday afternoon for training toward the World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay (4 June) and Argentina (8 June), Adriano said he wanted to speak to national team coach Carlos Alberto Parreira to find a solution that would satisfy both Inter and Brazil.

I'm also up for us signing Mancini, since it now seems that Karagounis is on his way out with Luisao coming the other way. Trappatoni has reportedly said that he's already joined us, or something like that.

Another major rumor that's running rampant is our linking with Pizarro. Now sites are saying that we are very close, that we've already signed him, and other stuff. But a new rumor is coming up, that it's all a ploy to get Cassano. That we are getting Pizarro and we are going to package him up with Ze Maria and Cruz and ship them to Roma for Cassano. Personally I'm not a fan of Cassano, at all. I'm totally against such a move. Perhaps if it was for Totti then I'd sing a different tune, but not for Cassano.

Though perhaps it's all a ploy to get Figo, Samuel, and Solari from Real. :P

Inter Milan's Adriano today claimed Chelsea have tabled a record-breaking £65 million offer to bring him to Stamford Bridge. London's Evening Standard cites reports from Rio de Janeiro which claim talks are already underway between the Brazilian striker and the Premiership Champions. Adriano is quoted as saying: 'I am happy at Inter and I still have a lot of years left on my contract, but Chelsea have come in with an exceptionally strong proposal.'

Adriano cool on £65m Chelsea move

Inter Milan striker Adriano claims he is not interested in a possible move to Barclays Premiership champions Chelsea.

The Brazil star, back in South America on national team duty, has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in recent weeks.

When quizzed about a £65million move to London, Adriano told the Jornal do Brazil: 'Throughout the season Chelsea have been there with a multi-million pound offer but in 2005 they appear to have become more determined.

'I am happy to know that but I am very happy in Milan where I am treated like a king.

'I hope to complete one more year there at least and I don't think about leaving.'

Adriano, who netted 16 goals in 30 Serie A games last season, is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2008.

London's Evening Standard newspaper had earlier cited reports from Rio de Janeiro claiming talks are already underway between the Brazilian striker and the Premiership Champions.

Wow. the guy is clearly not commited to Inter in the slightest. One more year? They should try and squeeze every dollar out of Chelsea now, and use the money to reinforce squad.

They could end up getting Gilardino, Cassano, Veron and possible Samuel with just the money from Adriano's sale. Itd be wise to sell now, you never know if he could have a bad injury this season. Its perfectly clear Adriano sees his future elsewhere, which is a shame as Ive been following his career since he came to Italy.

Adriano in no rush to leave
by Nadia Carminati - created on 2 Jun 2005

Brazil international Adriano has revealed he will not be leaving Internazionale within the next 12 months.

Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for the striker who is tied to the Giuseppe Meazza outfit until 2008.

Adriano is well regarded by Inter supporters and the Samba star is keen to repay their faith in him next season.

The 23-year-old, who is considered as one of the world's premier strikers, has been in superlative form this term in Europe and in Serie A.

"Throughout the season Chelsea have been there with a multi-million pound offer but in 2005 they appear to have become more determined," explained Adriano to Jornal do Brazil.

"I am happy to know that but I am very happy in Milan where I am treated like a king.

"I hope to complete one more year there at least and I'm not thinking about leaving."

 story changes every 12 hours. when the transfer market is closed then i will believe it

Inter enter Cassano chase Thursday 2 June, 2005

---------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------

Inter are ready to renew their rivalry with Juventus by taking them on in the chase to sign Antonio Cassano.

Reports yesterday suggested that the Bianconeri had made an initial bid for the Roma sensation.

But the Milan giants are ready to complicate matters by tabling a more enticing offer to the capital outfit.

Juve are understood to have offered around £9m, plus Adrian Mutu, for the striker who is only contracted to Roma until 2006.

The Stadio Olimpico side are believed to have turned that down by requesting two players, Mutu and Alessio Tacchinardi, plus £10.5m.

That may allow Inter to hijack Juve’s move on the player who is so desperately wanted by Bianconeri boss Fabio Capello.

Owner Massimo Moratti is allegedly ready to hand over £10m plus two players such as Emre or Giorgios Karagounis.

However, there is also the possibility that Inter may offer Roma the services of Alvaro Recoba.

The Uruguayan, who has also been linked with Sampdoria, is set to leave the San Siro after failing to break into the first team.

The proposed arrival of Recoba would apparently be welcomed by Francesco Totti, who signed a new deal with Roma this week after receiving ‘guarantees’ about summer signings.

Cassano has also been linked with Real Madrid but the Italian international is likely to remain in Serie A.

======================================================

I was definately against the Cruz+Ze Maria+Pizarro deal for Cassano, but this one, perhaps Recoba + cash deal, would be much better. Recoba isn't doing anything and I don't see him getting any better, so it would be best to sell him and finally get rid of him, especially if it means signing Cassano. Now don't get me wrong, I think he's a brat, but perhaps with a change of scenary he'll be singing a new tune. There's especially speculation that he could pickup a Nedved like role and play on the LW, like he has done at times with the NT. That sure would be interesting.

In other news Oriali and Branca have reportedly flown to England for a mix of transfer dealings. First things first Veron is to be signed and then rumors are said that they will listen to Newcastle and Tottenham's offers for Emre, and then to Everton's offer for AVM. I truly think that all three things could happen. I wouldn't be happy at all about losing Emre and AVM, but it sort of seems that both could actually leave, which totally sucks.

MORATTI: "A FEW, BUT GOOD MOVES"
Monday, 06 June 2005 23:19:31

MILAN - No negotiations for Adriano, an interest in Argentine midfielder Solari, the worries about those players absent and those on international duty ahead of the Italian Cup final against Roma, and the positive opinion on the Italian government's new plans for safer and more secure stadiums. These were some of the topics Massimo Moratti touched on during an interview with journalists at Monday evening's presentation of the new Inter Club 'Casa della Carità'.

"From a certain point of view this has been a constructive season," said Moratti about the Nerazzurri's season. "There's great confidence in the coach and what he has done. It is a concrete step in the construction of what will come. Spend less money? Well, this would certainly be wise..."

On Adriano, the Inter patron said: "I have also read that there are apparently offers. Yes, the evaluation could be what has been written, but no one has ever moved to talk about it. We're counting on the player so we can do well with him. There's no super offer. Adriano's recent declarations? They apparently seem a bit out of tune, but in these cases you never know if he really said these things or whether they were translated badly. And the day before he said some nice things and put pressure on the (Brazil) coach so he could play the Coppa Italia, which is a great demonstration of his love for Inter."

Moratti added: "In general we are assessing the needs of the team at the moment, and where we need to intervene. I don't know if Samuel is having a crisis with Real Madrid, but even those players having problems with their clubs are valued at a high price. Cassano? Gilardino? I see that all the players on the transfer market have been linked to Inter, but we're not doing anything. Solari? It could be a different matter for him. We have been following him for a long time and he could be a player to bet on. I don't think the fans are dreaming of a great coup, but want to carry forward this project, with a few, but good moves on the transfer market."

On the difficulties of preparing for the Coppa Italia final with so many players on international duty, Moratti said: "It won't be easy against Roma because of these situations. We have given a lot to some national teams in the past, for example in Argentina. One year we lost Javier Zanetti for three months, and this year we had to do without Kily González for six months after the Olympics, but I can see that they create problems about letting us have a player for just one match. These are not polemics, but I think that with common sense, and there's still room for common sense, a solution can always be found."

Why's Moratti trying to kid himself? bad translations, ya im sure. Than why hasnt Adriano came out and denied anything. Oh wait I forgot, he did commit his future to Inter..... for at least one more season.

I say try and suck out every penny from Chelsea this summer, or else risk losing him next season when his value may lower

I sorta agree Mikey. If there is any validity in what was reported, that Adriano said he'd want to leave if we don't win next season then I say we accept Chelsea mega off. I've heard that Chelsea officials are headed to Milan to wrapup Crespo to Milan and Veron to us, and probably to press for Adriano.

I say if the price is right then maybe we should try to get a top play included and sell him off. I personally would go for Carvalho + cash. That would fix our defensive probs and then we can continue on from there.

Now Adriano is one of my fav players, but after such a great beginning his form took a mega dip, and who knows if he'll go back to his best? Imagine what we could do that cash. Man do I wish I owned Inter. I'd guarentee a title in 2 years.

Anywayz on the transfer front, Makinwa is tipped to join us after the Coppa Italia final, while things for Pizarro are moving along. Though it's sorta looking like our first signing will be Solari. And I'd be elated to see him join since I don't have a whole lot of confidence in Kily. He'd be ok as a backup, but not a starter.

INTER, CHELSEA MEET OVER VERON
Wednesday, 08 June 2005 15:30:14

MILAN - At the Saras offices in Milan's city centre this morning, Inter patron Massimo Moratti, technical director Marco Branca and transfer market consultant Gabriele Oriali met Chelsea representative Peter Kenyon. After the meeting, Kenyon explained to waiting journalists that there was no talk of Adriano, but only of Juan Sebastian Veron, currently on loan to Inter from the London club (the midfielder's agent Fernando Hidalgo was also at the meeting).

Several minutes after, Massimo Moratti confirmed to journalists: "Yes, we only spoke about Veron. It was a brief meeting, but I think we can do it." Asked about the possibility of other players joining Inter, the Nerazzurri patron said: "I think negotiations for Samuel are complicated, and I don't think Roma want to let Chivu go. But I can confirm that Solari is a player we could be interested in. However, we will wait until after the two-legged Coppa Italia final before making any transfer market decisions."

Massimo Moratti also explained the meaning of yesterday's phrase 'there will be a surprise', spoken after the friendly match against Suzzara and reported in today's Italian newspapers. "You ask me if there will be a surprise, but if it's a surprise I can't tell you beforehand," he said. "I wasn't speaking about a transfer market coup, I was just replying to a question about a possible surprise, but it doesn't mean there will be one."
-------------------------

lol at last paragraph.

anyway looks like Solari will be a done deal after Coppa, and it is likely that we will hold on to Veron. I'm not liking what he's saying about Chivu and Samuel, but that is probably all nonsense talk. Moratti just doesn't want to say anything else.

They would have to pay.

He would have been on a free transfer if he would not have signed earlier this year ;)

Someone said that Gazzetta reported that Inter had signed Makinwa from Roma. If this is true, should we try and loan him off to Roma + cash for Cassano?

MORATTI: "ADRIANO'S STAYING WITH US"
Monday, 13 June 2005 14:26:28
MILAN - (ANSA) - Adriano will remain at Inter, and Cassano is not the 'present' Nerazzurri fans are expecting. In an interview with Gr Parlamento programme Politics in Football, Massimo Moratti confirmed that the Brazilian is not leaving Milan. "After last night it's difficult to leg go a player of Adriano's potential," said the Inter patron, confirming his 'no' to Real Madrid. "After the double at the Olimpico," joked Moratti, "his value has increased..."

"Without Adriano we would have to rebuild the entire attack," explained Moratti. And in the future Inter side there doesn't seem to be room for someone like Antonio Cassano. "It's a deal that will never happen," Moratti said. "He's a fun player but I don't think he would add anything to a department which is already abundant. He would bring us more problems than advantages."

Moratti reassured the fans by saying that they will soon have the present promised them. "I hope to complete the squad by giving the fans a small satisfaction, also for their patience," he said. "Winning the Coppa Italia is an important step for next year. Mancini wants to win."

=================================================

Moratti has stated that he's not planning on getting Cassano and I sorta hope it's a Moggi-like tactic because if Cassano doesn't sign with us then he's Juve bound and that would be terrible.

BTW since I wasn't around on Sunday, I'd just like to say great job to the guys for winning the first leg. Adriano was sensational, grabbing a brace. And yet again the duo of Miha and Matrix have stopped another team from scoring. Wow. Whatever Mancini is doing with those guys it's definately impressive.

The 2nd leg will be in the G. Meazza where I expect for the side to lift the trophy in front of the home fans. It's about time this club wins something with me as a fan. Shame that Adriano, Il Capitano, and Cambiasso won't be there. But I still expect for the side to hold off any Roma advance and win it for the fans.

Great win fot the boys yesterday. I really wish the whole team could be together on Wednesday cause I wanted to see Zanetti lift the cup but that's not gonna happen. Any word on who will be capitan for the 2nd leg? I was thinking either Toldo or Favalli would get the honours.
