Well the squads down to 26 players (excluding Choutos who is ment to be going to Mallorca?)

If both Coco and VDM left that would have to be the smallest squad i can remember inter having in a long time :hump:

Im still bracing myself for some last minute moves, as long as i dont see another canna-carini deal ill be more than pleased with this markets moves (just waiting for the last min cordoba-salgado deal to go through :crazyboy: )

so Inter is really going to go with 3 1/2 strikers (recoba's injuries make him half player) for the season? shocking :o

lol, 80% of those are Inter Reserve/Under 20 players.

the only ones that will play in the first team are the first 7 transferred in.

Our roster is really cut down now, to only 24.

Cool. Real Madrid is down to 20, with plenty of defenders for once.

Lazio rejected Inter’s Zauri bid

Lazio turned down a £2.2m offer from Internazionale for versatile Italian international Luciano Zauri.

The full-back, who can also play in midfield, was targeted probably as a result of the injury sustained by Javier Zanetti.

"(Inter owner Massimo) Moratti offered me £2.2m for Zauri," revealed Biancocelesti chief Claudio Lotito on Thursday.

Inter failed in their attempt to land Zauri, as they did in bids for Parma’s Daniele Bonera and David Jemmali of Bordeaux.

Meanwhile, Lotito has also revealed the truth surrounding his club’s alleged interest in Nerazzurri midfielder Cristiano Zanetti and a host of other players.

"I have never said that I wanted Zanetti, especially as I know that Inter didn’t put him up for sale," he stated.

"Manuele Blasi of Juventus? We would have asked for him if Juve wanted to take Massimo Oddo from us.

"Igor Tudor wasn’t part of our plans, while Gigi Di Biagio didn’t arrive because the Brescia fans would have caused uproar."

Croatian international Tudor, who was also wanted by Bolton, joined Siena from Juve instead on Wednesday.

we don't need a RB..Cordoba can play a decent RB position, and we could use Samuel and Materazzi in the middle. Even Ze Maria can play RB and I would be fine with that.

Actually Zauri is LB, so this wouldve been a class signing. Its disappointing Juve (RB) and Inter (LB) both were aware they needed upgrades, but never made any deals.

Anyways, Inter will DEFINATELY be signing a striker in January. Martins will be gone for a month (or more) for African nations cup, so the'll be down to 3 1/2 (:/)

Mancini makes Cassano call

Inter boss Roberto Mancini says he would like to sign Antonio Cassano, but concedes the Roma enigma will probably join Juventus.

The Italian has remained in the capital for now but a switch in January or next summer is likely given that his contract expires in 2006.

After being strongly associated with moves to Juventus and Milan, Mancini has put his club in the queue for the attacker’s services.

"I would happily take Cassano if there was that possibility," he told the Gazzetta dello Sport on Friday.

"I think he would fit in really well with this side even if it seems that he will be joining Juventus. That’s the general opinion anyway."

Cassano is widely regarded as one of Italy’s most talented youngsters, but he hasn’t established himself in the same manner that Mancini, Roberto Baggio and Alex Del Piero had done at his age.

"Perhaps Cassano is paying the price for his difficult character," explained Mancio. "However, nobody can question his ability as a footballer."

The transfer window closed on Wednesday with Inter failing to sign another right-back as cover for the injured Javier Zanetti.

"Bringing in another defender would have been useful," admitted the Coach. "It doesn’t matter though, I’m happy with what I already have at my disposal."

There was also talk that the club were looking for a fifth striker but Mancini explained that wasn’t a priority.

"It wasn’t a necessity, it would have just given us a little extra cover if Obafemi Martins plays in the African Cup of Nations," he added. "We’re fine in attack."

Cassano > Raul

And i was thinking, Inter dont need another striker, even if Martins goes to Africa and Recoba gets an injury. a 4-5-1 could work wonders, especially when a striker like Adriano up front and the possibility of adding Pizarro or Solari. If Adriano goes down, than thats a completely diff story.

Well I'm happy to see that VDM and Coco were shipped, but I'm still a little pissed that Karagounis is gone. Hopefully Figo blows me away with his play, or I"m gonna be grumbling all season.

On the striker thing I'm also pissed. I definately think we made a mistake in not bringing in a good 2nd/3rd striker. I still have a highly limited faith in Recoba, especially since I don't see him dropping the tons of goals we'll need from a number 2. But of course for the good of the team, I hope he proves me drastically wrong. But if not, or if Adriano goes down, then were f*cked.

BTW Yoss, how is Martins going to the African Nations Cup good for the team? He is much more effective with Adriano then Chino will ever be, and that's a fact.

Cassano would be an interesting option, but I also believe he's Juve bound, which is a terrible shame.

UDINESE WIN PIRELLI CUP
Friday, 02 September 2005 23:00:03
UDINE - Udinese beat Inter 2-1 at the Stadio Friuli to lift the tenth Pirelli Cup. The Nerazzurri took the lead through Julio Cruz on 19 minutes, but Di Michele and Tissone scored second-half goals to give the Bianconeri victory.

Of the other nine Pirelli Cups, Inter have won six with victories over Manchester United in 1996 & 1997, and Olimpiakos, Watford, Roma and Real Sociedad from 2000 to 2003. The Nerazzurri lost to Liverpool at Anfield in 1998, Real Madrid in 1999 and Fiorentina (after a penalty shoot-out) last year.

UDINESE 2-1 INTER (HT: 0-1)

Scorers: Cruz 19, Di Michele 63, Tissone 82

UDINESE: Paoletti; Juarez (Candela 51), Sensini, Felipe; Zenoni (Tissone 61), Muntari, Mauri, Morosini (Barreto 46), Pieri; Di Michele (Gheddafi 81), Rossini (Di Natale 61)
Subs not used: Sciarrone, Rinaldi, Gotti

INTER: Toldo ( Orlandoni 71); Zé Maria , Favalli, Samuel, Fautario; Semenzato (87' Valmy), Maa Boumsong (Germinale 89), C.Zanetti, Kily González (Belaid 64); Cruz (Siqueira 87), Momentè
Subs not used: Esposito, Maronese
Coach: Roberto Mancini

Referee: Oscar Girardi

Bookings: Juarez, Felipe, Maa Boumsong
======================================

You can't win them all I guess... Doesn't matter, atleast Samuel is keeping up his match fitness, and Kily has gotten a chance to return to action. BTW a lot of youngsters got some minutes which is always nice. Orlandoni also made his team debut. The team may have lost, but that's not important. Their saving the wins for when it matters. :jambo:
