How do you mean coz it can't happen at the same time? :D

He meant that everyone is assuming Barca would win everything(including the CL) and suddenly Mourinho sneaks in and wins it unexpectedly.

Finally, Roma can take the top spot if they win tomorrow, they worked really hard during last couple of months and they really deserve it under Ranieri management, I hope they don't blow it like Milan.

why would you post this here, instead of in the Roma thread? completely tactless ... :willis:

Inter were unlucky today ... more on that later (if necessary) ...

It probably was the most difficult match for the rest of the season and a draw is an OK result, but we could and should've done better. The race is still on though and anything can happen.(Except Milan winning it :innocent_smile_1:)

2 matches in 4 days in Florence, but it didn't all go according to plan for Inter ... Mourinho would have swapped today's result with Saturday's, so that Inter'd still be top of the league AND through to the final, instead of winning "needlessly" today (when a draw would have sufficed) and slipping to 2nd in the league on the weekend ... ironically, the balance of the match today favoured Fiorentina a lot more than on the weekend, but neither today's result nor the weekend's reflected that ... nevertheless, they are still alive on all fronts, and that is something only one other team in all of Europe can say ...

wow, Antonio Damato really wanted to make a name for himself ... Inter got just as many yellows as Juve, but Sissoko was stupid enough to get himself 2, while Mourinho was smart enough to take Motta off at halftime before he got himself sent off as well ...

Juve started the match well, but didn't do much more than test Júlio César from outside the box ... Inter had one or two shots from outside the box (Motta's dipping shot drew a top save from Gigi), but were slower out of the blocks than Juve...

but about half way through the first half, Damato lost the plot, and started brandishing yellow cards left, right and centre -- in like 2 or 3 minutes, he had handed out 5 cautions! it was just silly officiating from Damato ... a derby like this match is already burdened with tension, expectation, and intensity, from both the players and the fans ... it is up to the ref to keep a cool head, and calm players down when they are over-exuberant with their tackles/reactions/protests ... but brandishing cautions like he did midway through the first half was the worst thing he could have done, and it was always going to be the case that someone was going to get a second yellow and go off -- and Momo was that individual ... I'm not saying that any of cautions weren't completely undeserved; but in a high-strung match like this, it is better for the ref that people are talking about the game, than a decision he made that changed the game ...

Inter should have run riot with the scoreline in the second half, but missed so many GOLDEN chances ... Eto'o and Milito (twice) were the most guilty, and their profligacy in front of goal was very uncharacteristic ... but Maicon produced something sublime to get the [by then] deserved breakthrough, showing world class skill to control the ball, pop it over Amauri, and then volley superbly to the far corner -- he's not the world's best right back for no reason, and finally produced a little overdue matchwinner for his side ...

to Inter's credit, they did not sit back after the goal ... they still went forward, looking for another goal to secure the points ... Super Mario Balotelli was unlucky to see his freekick cannon back off the bar ... and after all the glorious chances that were created, it was a miscued shot / cross from Muntari that gave Eto'o a tap-in to make it 2-0 ... that was a slightly more deserving scoreline for how the 2nd half went (though I still think it should have been at least 2-3 more) ...

anyway, a big 3 points in the derby, and a not too difficult run-in to the end of the domestic season ...

now the focus will turn to that epic semifinal match-up against Barcelona; I, for one, can't wait ...

That goal was pure inspiration.

Even the gringos in the espn studios by the name of scott van pelt put this as the number 1 top play of the day. That like never happens period here when they show highlights and scores. Terrible of him pronouncing the name of Maicon thou.

there's no Serie A thread to write in, so I'm going to talk about the Samp-Milan result in here ... you'll see why it is pertinent to Inter too ...

----

I was delighted to see Fantantonio (brilliant once again, even apart from the goal he won) and Pazzini do the business again, this time against Milan ...

combined with Miccoli's Palermo dropping points, that takes Doria clear in 4th ... but with the Serie A UEFA coefficient only being reinforced by Inter this season (shame on everyone else), and with the Bundesliga doing as brilliantly in Europe this season, 4th place may not be Champions League for a lot longer ...

since Cassano's return, Samp have dropped points against Bari and Cagliari, but have won the big matches against Juve, Genoa, and now Milan ... they next face Roma, and a victory against them would be huge as far as their 3rd place (and guaranteed Champions League spot) is concerned; and of course a Roma loss would be huge as far as the title race is concerned too ... Cassano seems to be motivated to produce something extra against the big teams, and he has scored in all those important victories since his return ... but there are very few matches he will be more motivated for than one against Roma in the Stadio Olimpico ... I hope for his sake, and (the club he supported as a child) Inter's sake, that he can lead Samp to a result at the Olimpico ...

Great result! I was routing for Inter because Jose Mourinho is my second favorite manager and I'm tired of the media wankfest over Barcelona.

Forza Suarez! (ps brotha can you spare a dime?)
It's a shame that you're the team that waves the Italian flag in Europe. Good result though, I guess.

yep, still fond of Jose for what he did, but Inter impressed me a lot, I don't like Motta but having someone like him is quite useful although he's an absolute prick if you're supporting the opposition team.

Most of Inter's threat came down the right hand side, Maicon and Eto'o combined brilliantly. Milito worked his socks off and got a good goal.

But Sneijder was the one that impressed me again. First goal was great positioning and anticipation but the 3rd goal was very clever. Looking at the replays, it did look as if he meant the knock down for Milito, where other players would just have an effort on goal. Awesome stuff.
