Is it stupid to assume Mourinho is the best coach ever?

Well, dont mean to lick his balls like Fergie does, but this guy is just SENSATIONAL!!!

Maybe I have not followed football long enough to have seen enough? I certainly dont know and never heard of another coach that is as brilliant as him. Look at his record, won UEFA cup and CL in successive seasons and a few national titles in a row with Porto, won the EPL and broke the Enalish Old Firm in his first season with Chelsea (earning the most EPL points ever en route), merely lost out a place at the CL final only to a goal that should never have been...you can argue Benitez isn't any worse when it comes to Europe, but in EPL, this guy just has no clues.

Now in the new season, his team is already at the top of the table with the likes of Arsenal and Man Utd trailing by 12031274087 points?!!! You may say well everyone was talking the same about Arsenal before they ended their 50-game unbeaten run last season. But man, this Chelsea team seem to be a little bit different don't you think? I am not saying they will have as long or even longer unbeaten run than Arsenal did, but it seems to me that, even if Chelsea lost one or two games in the season, they are more capable than the invincible Arsenal of 03-04 to bounce back immediately and manage to go on another unbeaten run and end the season being Champions.

Then again, you may argue his success is backed by the millions of a Russian, but then, as the likes of Real Madrid, Milan who are financially backed by the government tell us, money doesn't always guarantee success (sorry if you feel offended Real and Milan fans!). Oh and, according to the "special one" himself, he even managed to win the CL with a team who's on a budget one tenth of a club of the size of Man Utd.

So...my question is, has football ever witnessed a coach as genius as him??? I think Capello(spell?) is the only one who comes 'close', guaranteeing you a league title at least wherever he goes, Milan, Real, Roma, Juve...but...even with a record like this, he is still a bit out-shone by the Portugese master IMO.

In Porto he didn't have millions and he did what you can see. 2 National titles, Uefa Cup, 1 National Cup, 1 Supercup and CL...all in 2 years and a half. IMO...that is amazing stuff. He built the Porto team he found when he came from point 0. Few of them remained...I remember seeing Baia, Deco, Jorge Costa and Alenitchev the only ones remaining. Then he got Nuno Valente, Paulo Ferreira, Maniche, Costinha, Mccarthy, Cesar Peixoto, Ricardo Carvalho, Ricardo Costa...

Another thing is that Mourinho, with a bad player in his team...somehow can make it look good. I remember Pavlin, a very bad midfielder Porto had...he didn't play much, but he played well with Mourinho. One more thing, he rotates players...maybe too much. But player rotation is very important nowadays. And he really does save the players for important matches...I still remember Mourinho lose 2 games in the final national games (when he already had the title secured), just to be ready to CL final. And look...3-0. Impressive victory.

Now in Chelsea, he may have in backup the rich Abramovich. So what? Did he got players like Ronaldo, Zidane, Ronaldinho, Eto'o, Henry, C.Ronaldo...galacticos? No. Instead he bought Paulo Ferreira, Ricardo Carvalho, Drogba, Joe Cole, SWP, Robben. He rarely judges players by his fame. He looks first to the ability.

What can I say more? IMO, he is the best coach in the world right now. Best coach so far...? Maybe...he still has many years. =) And I actually don't miss any Chelsea game in PT local Sport Tv. They always win. ^^

that's because none of them wanted to go....he did try with those 50 mil. pound bids of his.

Today football isn't managed by the love for the shirt, but yes for the money. Be sure if Chelsea offered some 60 million for Henry and doubled his salary...would he stay at Arsenal? We will never now...but the truth is...the millions control the football.

The unfortunate thing is, he still manages to make do with the players he has.:(

You are wrong, Real Madrid is not supported by any government, in fact Zapatero (spanish president actually) is a Barça supporter :P

In the past, 1940 to 1975 there were some things about Franco supporting Madrid (At least Anti madrid guys say that!), but the fact is Real Madrid won less titles in Spain that age, than after/before Franco.

Do you imaginane Tony Blair and his mates giving money to ... Arsenal in example? It sounds stupid right? Its the same in Spain. Hey we are a close to a 3rd world country but not that much! :)

Capellos record is as good as anyones. Its better then Mourinhos, however give Jose time. However you arent stupid in assuming if he is the best ever, because he is (H) :rockman:. Just ask James Beattie.

Don't be ridiculus. He's nowhere near it. When he reaches the levels of Shnkly, Ferguson etc. then you can argue for it. Right now he has to win A LOT more.

No Mourinho is not the best coach ever, yet. Ferguson is. Sure Ferige is a senile **** now but even comparing Fergies and Mourinhos achivements is a joke in my eyes. Sadly now Fergies time is up and he should retire as fast as he can, however Mourinho is still young and has time to become a best coach in the world. Ask this question again after 10 years.

hes one the 2 most important titles a club manager can win

the uefa cup and then the next year the champions league with a little porto team defeating teams like celtic (who had larsson and was amazing at the time) then in the champions league beating manchester (some people say manchester got "robbed") then teams like monaco and i think deportivo, then with porto he wins the superliga, the superliga and the tace de portugal

then he goes to england and wins the carling cup and the english league in his first season
now this season hes gonna win the english league again unless something CRAZY happens

so there is arguments of him being the best coach as he won almost everything

As good as he may be (and he's great), he'll be shadowed by the amount of money he has at his disposal in Chelsea... not many clubs in the world have players like SWP, who cost a lot of money, on the bench...

imho it'll take a good while before we can say he's the best ever... winning the CL with Porto was his biggest achievement, and he wasn't the first to do it... winning the portuguese league with Porto and EPL with the Chelsea team he has at his disposal ain't that impressive...

he surely can be the best manager ever, but it'll take time... right now, he's got a lot to do to even come close to the likes of Paisley, Fergie

Let's say Mourinho got potential to be ONE of the greatest manager of all-time. Let's not forget other greats like Michels, Paisley, Shankley, Busby etc. And Capello and Lippi of course. ;)

If he wins a few more CL trophies he surely will be remembered as one of the best ever. At the moment he's far away from being that.

well he's the best at the moment, he's definitely taken managing and the way managers are regarded up a notch.

I don't remember a manager being so talked about and being the "star" of a club like Mourinho is at Chelsea.
