Im very happy to see Gattuso and Inzaghi recalled, but unfortunately there best player is out, which not only affects the team on a creative level, but may force 'Il Trap' to change his entire formation(which supports the return of Pippo).

Defenders: Birindelli (Juventus), Cannavaro (Inter), Ferrari (Parma), Legrottaglie (Juventus), Nesta (Milan), Oddo (Lazio), Panucci (Roma), Zambrotta (Juventus)

geez look at that Italian team. On paper, that Wales team should have no chance but amazingly they pulled it off before.

Ya missed out some players in the midfield - Oster (Sunderland), Pembridge (Everton), Robinson (Portsmouth), Savage (Birmingham)...

With Big John back in the squad, we'll stand more of a chance than we did in Serbia...

Probable lineup...
Jones
Delaney - Gabbidon - Melville - Speed
Davies - Bellamy - Pembridge - Savage - Giggs
Hartson

After last month's defeat, we know we've got to beat the Italians to get the biggest advantage coming into the Finland match. Realistically I reckon it'll be a draw but we'll try and prove that the win back in October was no fluke.

How Times have changed since that memorable October night in Cardiff when the tiny welshman pulled off a major upset by beating the mighty italians thanks to a late Craig Bellamy strike. Clearly momentum has shifted from a yr ago when Wales beat the Azzurri at the Millenium stadium. This time last year, the Italians were in the worst form theyd been in years, while Wales were unquestionably on the best run theyve ever had. One year later, and the tables have turned with the Azzurri winning 6 games in a row, and allowing a single goal on the trot. Meanwhile, Wales are coming off back to back losses, and are especially in poor spirits following there devasting loss to group rivals Serbia and Montenegro in Belgrade.

Just looking at the two Italian squads will reveal how much things have changed, than regulars such as Di Biagio, Doni, Tomassi, Montella, Maccarone and Marrazzina, who all feautured that momentous night are now all distant memories of the italian team. In there place has come a new offensive minded formation and fresh new faces like Miccoli, Camoranesi, Perrotta, Corradi, Fiore and Legrottaglie.

With all that being said, this is sure to be the group decider, and the winner will most likely have booked themselves a place in Portugal next summer. On paper, its clear that the italians have far more class that the welshman, but as they've shown in the past, what wales lacks in talent, they compensate in heart and detirmination. Though they'll give it all they got against the Italians, who will be playing on home soil and minus there most influential player, Francesco Totti, will just be too strong for there opponents. Prediction: Italy by two goals.

Inzaghi is only in coz Miccoli is out with appendicitis.

Either way Italy are unbeaten in the last 6 games...

Trap has finally got the team working well...and even without Totti, Italy will win. EASILY.

3-1 to Italy.

I think that we're (the Welsh) going to have to hope that winning our last 2 games at home will win us the group. Realistically I can't see us beating the Italians on their home soil, although with Hartson back we'll have more of an attacking threat in a player that can hold up play and wait for the speed of Giggs, Bellamy (or Earnshaw) and Davies to catch him up before attacking as a unit of pace and power. Blake struggled against the Serbs in that role.

The Italians have more ability than us all over the park, with the exception of one position (that of Giggs). I just hope that they go into the game complacent, if they do that then we will have a chance. Well, we have a chance anyway. We've got a good team with confidence and the knowledge that a win against the Italians will see us in the finals so it's the Italians playing catch up.

We missed Big John in Belgrade because his physical presence and strength would have undone the Serb defence easily. Blakey couldn't do that because he doesn't have that ability and his first touch kept letting him down.

At least we're going into the game knowing we've got to win or draw because there'd be no room for complacency at all. If the Italians play like that, we've got a better chance.

The Welsh win wasn't fluke - Italy's only real chance (that turned into a goal) was via a deflected shot, the Welsh were all over them.

Italy will win, unless Trappatoni chickens out now that Totti cant play, and go back to a boring 4-4-2 formation and not play wingers! Thats why Wales was so good last time
Tommasi-Di Biagio-Pirlo- Ambrosini

What kinda crap midfield was that?

Hopefully trap simpy puts DP in where Totti plays and has Fiore play where DP would play. Who will play as DMs? Who knows...I want to see Tacchinardi and Gattuso.

Panucci-----Nesta---------Cannavaro---Zambrotta

Camoransesi------Del Piero------Fiore

This is the biggest game since the World Cup. Im feeling pretty confident seeing as though Italy has played strong as of late, taking the last 5 or so matches. I expect a huge game out of Del Piero. With the Wales squad playing poorer as of late, and missing a good goal scorer, i think 2-0 seems like it could b a legitimate score. Trap seems to finally have some Stonez down low for an offensive minded play as of late. Im not worried about TOTTI being out, hopefully Gattuso will have a good game. San Siro will be full, and screaming, and hopefully they Azzurri will be able 2 match the crowds intensity.

yay another Juve supporter !! :rockman: :rockman:

Welcome aboard :)

Vieri was complaining about a few niggles and aches after their gamee this weekend...hopefully hes fully fit for this dor or die game basically.

Totti should be back for the Serbs...

So the stage is set for DP. He was outstanding against Empoli (nice freekick !) ...and was taken off early and rightly so. He should be pumped up for this one.

i don't know what formation Trap is going to employ as both Miccoli and Totti are out.
