Giannichedda alone isn't enough of a backup for Vieira and Emerson. Tudor isn't ideally suited for a place in midfield. Lippi tried and it didn't really work now did it ? He played there out of necessity. Tudor would be a quality backup as CB.

Emerson, Vieira, Giannichedda, Blasi (Y) very sound set of DMs.

As for Chiellini, hes the only backup for Zambrotta and so he'll stay. He'll get his chances.

Miguel / Oddo / Alves for RB ? I'd take Miguel. I don't know much about Alves but from what little i've heard he sounds just as promising. I'm not too thrilled about the possibility of getting Oddo ... 2 seasons ago yes... not now. But hey, i'd take him over Zebina so any one of those 3 would be ok really.

Mikey its all about having 2 11s both capable of winning -

Looks like Pesotto is staying, and he could be backup for Zambrotta, but I think Chiellini will stay. At least (if Lippi selects him) he'll be very fresh for WC. (:/)

Miguel has baggage, and the potential of a repeat of the Roma/Mexes disaster as a possible outcome. Dont know shiat about Alves, other than hes probably higher rated than he actually is and that he was benched towards end of last season. Id go for Oddo, the safe bet. A quality RB like him is more important than depth at a position (DM/Blasi) youre already pretty much covered in anyways.

Regardless, Moggi has built an excellent team, and hasnt spent too much money, very impressive. Like Inter and their 'LB weakness', Juve isnt so bad at RB. Zebina can always pull out an *ssclown performance for the kids, but that always makes for high comedy. And here's to hoping Capello makes the call that could complete the Italy backline in time for next summer (move Zambro to RB and let Chiellini rock out at LB).

Chances of Mancini leaving are very slim. They dont have to worry about losing him for free next summer, so there's no need for Roma to sell, especially to their best buds. ;)

Juve monitor new Cafu
Friday 29 July, 2005

Italian champions Juventus are today being linked with Brazil’s attacking right-back Cicinho.

The Sao Paulo player is widely considered as Marcos Cafu’s heir in the national side and has caught the attention of numerous clubs.

Cicinho, who is on the verge of gaining EU status thanks to his Italian roots, recently impressed at the Confederations’ Cup in Germany.

It was believed that Milan would make a move for the defender but the Old Lady of Italian football have emerged as contenders on Friday.

Although he recently extended his contract with his South American club until 2008, he would consider a European switch – even if that is only likely to happen next summer.

Whispers suggest that any proposed deal would cost any interested party a total of £8m, with 40 per cent of that fee going directly to the player.

The Bianconeri are looking for a new right-back and have been linked with numerous players this summer.

Lazio’s Massimo Oddo has been associated, as has Portuguese international Miguel of Benfica.

Juventus’ current first choice right-sided defender is former Cagliari and Roma player Jonathan Zebina.

Sorry for the double post :(

The new stadium has been postponed
29.07: The construction of the new Juventrus stadium has been postponed for the second consecutive year. Construction works were supposed to begin in the summer of 2004, but were postponed until this summer. But in July Juventus director Antonio Giraudo announced that the construction of the new Juventus stadium had been posponed until May 2006. During this season Juventus will only start building outside the stadium, but will not touch the stadium itself until the end of the season. This means that the capacity of the stadium won't be reduced this season. Juventus will build a new stadium inside the current Delle Alpi stadium. The running pictch will be removed and the spectators will sit only few meters from the pitch like in English stadiums. The new stadium will be given a sponsor name and will not be named after Giovanni Agnelli as the fans hoped for. The capacity will be reduced to between 35 000 and 42 000 seats. Juventus will also build outside the stadium. Juventus plan to build a hotel, a shopping centre, a Juventus store, a Juventus museum, a cinema, a bowling hall, restaurants and new offices for the club.

oh yea and mark now thinking about it and we really should get a keeper the likes of scicigniano or antonioli cus chimenti is playing really poorly, he was totally unable to keep a clean-sheet this season.

if we really want our b team to win something this year then we simply should not give them his disadvantage.

and anther thing, i think that the b team plays a different formation 4-3-3
so that mutu is there instead of macini. but that's just for now though because if we do get amantino then we may change it up a bit.....

LOLzer..................shocking! You mean to tell me that you're celebrating that downright criminal assault on King Recoba instead of being sickened to the point of being hospitalized?

Typical, typical to get a reaction like that from the inwardly pointed toes people.

i don't know exactly what you would deduce from my toes being inwardly pointed but they most definitely are not and i have no subsequent signs of someone who's toes may point inward :ewan:

Cannavaro calls for back-up
Friday 29 July, 2005
Fabio Cannavaro insists Juventus will again prove their defensive strength this term even if he wants the club to bring in more new stoppers.

The outfit had the best defensive record in Serie A last term but they have lost numerous players at the back this summer.

Paolo Montero’s contract has expired, Ciro Ferrara has quit, while Nicola Legrottaglie has again been loaned out with Siena his new destination.

"There is nothing to fear. We will again be the best defence in the championship and we’ll prove that on the field of play during important games," the Italy captain told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

"But you need a big squad in today’s game and reserves for every position. That is the case here too and we might need something else in defence.

"Having numerous options available will allow players to catch their breath, it will also be easier to achieve our objective of fighting on all fronts until the very end.

"Who could we sign? I don’t know who, you need to ask our director general Luciano Moggi. He has no need for any suggestions because we all have great faith in his ability."

One new arrival who has impressed the defender though is Croatian centre-back Robert Kovac, a free signing from Bayern Munich.

"Kovac is a quality player with great experience," boasted the 31-year-old. "He needs a little time to settle but he will be very useful in such a long season.

"He’s a ‘German’ type player and very concrete. If there is a need to kick the ball into the stands then he doesn’t think twice about it."

Meanwhile, Inter midfielder Cristiano Zanetti is again being linked following Alessio Tacchinardi’s move to Villarreal.

The Bianconeri are ready to offer Inter the services of striker Fabrizio Miccoli for the former Roma man.

hurhurhur......ok then, inwardly toes pointed fella. I thought you were laughing at that gross incident where he almost punctured King Recoba's eardrums with that vicious strike.

i don't like c. zanetti. as a player i like him alot less than miccoli.
i hope that if the deal does come thru, though, that it is a player+$$ deal so that we hav enuff to secure a decent RB.

EDIT: @ shev7
if they were to ask for money they would not get it,
the main reason we are "linked" with this deal is to get rid of miccoli.
we need a RB 100000001 x more than friggin C. zanetti
