do we have three (including the inter game) in a row now? as far as I can see we meet both Sampdoria and Siena before playing away again, is this right? My source is a norwegian paper, which is not very reliable.

Zambrotta: Juve are the greatest
Wednesday 5 October, 2005
Gianluca Zambrotta believes this could be one of the best Juventus sides of all time and reveals why he snubbed Chelsea.

“This Juve team can be compared to some of the greatest in this club’s history, including the line-up with Zinedine Zidane and Pippo Inzaghi,” said the versatile Italian international.

Many have suggested that the midfield partnership of Emerson and Patrick Vieira has left the Bianconeri with no weak links and they are currently the only side in Europe to have a 100 per cent record in both the Champions League and domestic competition.

There are now reports that Fabio Capello is in negotiations to extend his contract with the Turin giants until 2009 and take on a future position as director.

“It is possible seeing as the club and Coach have the same views on football, while we all have great faith in Capello,” explained Zambrotta.

Part of Juve’s success is down to their canny transfer dealings and, despite multi-million pound offers, David Trezeguet, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Gianluigi Buffon and Zambrotta have stayed at the Delle Alpi.

“I was very happy and flattered to hear that Chelsea and Milan were interested in me, but I have signed until 2010 and will stay in Turin,” confirmed the left-back.

Nedved wants Euro glory
Wednesday 5 October, 2005
Pavel Nedved has confirmed that Juventus’ main objective this season is to win the Champions League.

La Vecchia Signora are unbeaten in six Serie A games and have won both their European matches but the Czech midfielder is clear which is the club’s priority.

“The Champions League is our main target, we regard it higher than the Scudetto,” said the 33-year-old.

“But you are not allowed to lose a single match in the knockout stages. You can’t gain points there like you can in the group stage.”

A better showing in the knockout stage will be the key this season for the Bianconeri after eliminations in that stage to Liverpool and Deportivo La Coruna in recent seasons. Nedved sees the signing of Patrick Vieira as the key to success this term.

“We will see after some results, but previously we missed one player – the leader Patrick Vieira,” added the midfielder – who tasted European Cup-Winners Cup glory with Lazio in 1999. “Now we have him so we are complete.”

Nedved also revealed that his decision to retire from international football was a difficult one.

Czech Republic Coach Karel Bruckner had asked Nedved to return to the side but the 2003 Balon d’Or winner declined. “It was an easy decision for my health – for my heart, no.”

“It was strange to finish but possibly I would not be able to cope physically with it anymore. I am 33 and along with Lilian Thuram we are the oldest players in the Juventus team,” he concluded.

Buffon on the road to recovery
Gigi Buffon is confident that he will be back in action by December as he continues to recover from a serious shoulder injury.

The Juve shot-stopper suffered the injury against Milan in pre-season, although the Bianconeri have not struggled in his absence.

The San Siro outfit promptly offered them Christian Abbiati as a temporary replacement and the ‘keeper has proved a worthy deputy thus far.

“I think Abbiati has played superbly and he was the decisive factor against Udinese,” said Buffon.

"And I'm following the expected path to recovery. In the middle of November I will be going back to training and I believe I will be returning to action around the beginning of December.

The Azzurri No 1 does have some reservations about his return though. "I have to admit that, in comparison with previous injuries, this scared me more,” he continued.

"Sustaining a shoulder injury as a goalkeeper is not good, but I am feeling good and I hope that my teammates will have kept us at the top of the League when I return.”

Nice nice. I was wondering what Gigi was upto. Good to know hes recovering well after surgery. It would be wonderful if he comes back in and gives Juve the added boost in December but there is no need to hurry his return. Abbiati is doing just fine so far.

Vieira Fears Barcelona More Than 'Predictable Chelsea'
10/6/2005 1:06:00 PM
Juventus hero Patrick Vieira believes Chelsea don’t pose too much of a threat in the race for the Champions League trophy.
The former Arsenal skipper instead believes Barcelona are the ones that could seriously challenge the Bianconeri for the final prize.

“I know Chelsea very well, and its true they are more complete than Barcelona, but they are also more predictable. The Catalans are more vulnerable defensively, but their midfield and offense are formidable,” he said.

“Chelsea’s offense isn’t as strong as Barca’s, nor is it as creative,” he added.

Vieira also expressed disappointment for having failed to lift the Champions League trophy during his Arsenal days.

“I never won it with Arsenal, and I’m sad about this. It would have been great for both the club and its fans,” he explained.

Chiellini sick of Juve bench

Giorgio Chiellini has warned Juventus that he’s looking for a move to Roma if he doesn’t get more first team football.

“I really can’t stand for the fact we’ve played eight games between Serie A and the Champions League, yet I haven’t played a single minute of football with a Juve jersey,” slammed the defender.

“I knew I’d have to wait for my turn and that I am still very young, but I have a desire to play that may take me elsewhere. I can only thank Claudio Gentile and the Under-21 side for giving me the chance to prove my worth. If the situation doesn’t change, then I’ll ask to be sold.”

The 21-year-old full-back impressed last term at Fiorentina, scoring three goals in 37 Serie A appearances and doing enough to earn five caps for the senior Azzurri squad.

However, since his move to Turin in the summer, he has remained firmly rooted to the bench – or even the stands – and returned to the less hallowed Under-21 international line-up. This situation will almost certainly see him drop out of the 2006 World Cup squad contenders.

“Fabio Capello doesn’t talk to me, but that’s just the way he is,” continued the furious defender in the ‘Corriere dello Sport Stadio.’ “I can only assume the fault is mine if I haven’t convinced him of my potential up until this point. Of course Gianluca Zambrotta is the first choice for that role, but I thought that with the squad rotation I might get my chance eventually.”

There is a light at the end of the tunnel for Chiellini, as he was very close to a summer switch to Roma and that move could be completed in the January transfer window.

“I would love to join Roma. I do have a few regrets that I didn’t go to the Giallorossi in the first place, seeing how things are going at Juve, but it wasn’t my choice.”

He is good and young, I don't want to lose him, especially to Roma. Is it possible to loan him for more than one season?

He's also usefull at left midfield... we could use him there as a back-up for Nedved. If Capello isnt doing that already though. Gotta wait for his chance. If he doesnt have the patience... sell him and dont think about him anymore. For LB we also got Balzaretti. :)

unfortunately, he's gotta go

talent just being burnt on the bench there

back up's in both his positions already

if he was just a RB his career would be heading in such a different way, playing for juve and the azzurri
