Zubizarreta said he is not going anywhere at the Joan Gamper trophy, we has already sold Bojan and Jeffren so Afellay ain't leaving for a year or two at least. Better go after Elia (Y)

I would definitely prefer Eljero Elia because Afellay isn't a true winger. I know he can play there and do a good job, but at PSV he always played in the center and that's his true position. Obviously he would never make Barca's first team at center midfield, so he's willing to play on the wing for them. I still don't think he'll ever become a starter at Barca at any position, and it's just a matter of time before he has to move on.

I would definitely take Afellay over Marchisio (or f*cking Pepe and Martinez) at left wing, though! But ideally I'd like to see a true winger to finally provide some width to this team with Krasic on the other side.

Giaccherini (Inter fan! boooo) in for his medical. Trademark mediocre signing by Marotta, though with Jorge Martinez going the other way (one of the most unsignificant players in Juventus history) it's not all that bad... Surely can't be worse.

Meh. At least Juve will sign a proper left winger and defender any day now... right?

Starting XI
Apparently the Fiore president said "No" to Juventus. I heard Barca's Afellay Ibrahim plan b? even Schalke's Jefferson Farfan.

Next arrival: Marcelo Estigarribia. Loan with option to buy.

I have absolutely no idea who this is. I watched a couple of games in the Copa America where he played for Paraguay (finalists) but I never really noticed him. I hope these Marotta signings turn out be masterstrokes, and that Estigarribia turns out be a new Camoranesi (but on the left). Make it happen, Estigarribia.

Judging from this video he masters the craft of falling down.

from what I saw of him at the Copa:

ANYONE NEW?
no real standouts amongst the younger / lesser-known players at the tournament ... for Uruguay, only Sebastián Coates is new -- he has showed consistency, which is always a good sign for a young defender ...

amongst the others only Marcelo Estigarribia caught the eye, though I think he could be a supersub at a mediocre team in a top league, at best ...
guess it's time for him to step it up ...

I saw most of Paraguay´s games in this Copa and he definitely standed out. In the game against Brazil he really managed to make evidence of Dani Alves and his porr defending. Great signing for us.

Ah, okay, that's cool. There's not much to lose with a ''loan with option to buy'' construction anyway. I can't wait to see the new Juve in action, and the opening of the new stadium... Damn player strikes.

Meanwhile, Diego Lugano off to PSG. :( Rumours are Chelsea want Krasic in the Alex deal, which frankly isn't going to happen. Bruno Alves?

Make America Great Again
You even made a joke about Juventus' history with "loan + option to buy" deals in the Chelmsford thread.

And hey, while you're making a mint on poaching Bayern targets that we can't get for various reasons, why not make a play for Howedes?

we're apparently getting Rhodolfo from São Paolo, 25 year old central defender, 1.95m tall. shouldn't cost too much I reckon. but why don't we sign proven players? it's not like he's going to get straight into the team.

Marotta's signings are random and improvised. It's probably because Juve arrive at their fourth or fifth choice for every position each time. Juve's fishing in a pond of players with a high risk flop factor, and it's costing Juve incredible amounts of money. I'm not sure for how much longer this can continue... We might end up like Newcastle United. (OH MY GOD!)

that's how it is man, you can't really attract anyone without playing in the CL at least. I still think we won't fall into mediocrity, but things aren't looking great for us atm. :(

ok, if you guys are ever going to convince Robin van Persie to a move, it'll be tonight!! Marotta: get on it!!

Haha, Moggi would've made the call by now. Sometimes I try to imagine what Juve's team would look like now had Calciopoli not happened... Van Persie could fit into that. :(
