yep. those bastards.

One article on my local newspaper 2 days ago showed a picture of about 10 black people coming out of a Nike store loaded with football jerseys and 7 or 8 boxes of shoes per person. :kader:

"New Orleans Is Sinking"

Bourbon blues on the street loose and complete
Under skies all smoky blue-green
I can Forksake the dixie dead shake
So we dance the sidewalk clean
My memory is muddy what's this river I'm in
New Orleans is sinking and I don't want to swim

Colonel Tom What's wrong? What's Going On
You can't tie yourself up for a deal
He said" Hey North you're south shut you big mouth
You gotta do what you feel is real."
Ain't got no picture postcards ain't go no souvenirs
My baby she don't know me when I'm thinking about thoes years

Pale as a light bulb hanging on a wire
Sucking up to someone just stoke the fire
Picking out the highlights of the scenery
Saw a little cloud looked a little like me

I had My hand in the river
My feet back up on the banks
Looked up to the lord above and said hey man thanks
Some time I fell so good I gotta scream
She says Gordie baby I know exactly what you mean
She said, she said I swear to god she said

My memory is muddy what's this river I'm in
New Orleans is sinking and I don't want to swim

Very eerie and poignantly prescient, eh?

I guess they won't be playing that song for a long time to come now, eh?

Fuel prices are almost completely determined by what's going on in the economies and societies of the worlds oil rich nations. Regretably, these nations are often the ones which are most volatile and politcally unstable which is why oil prices fluctuate so much. Right now it's just one disaster after another in these countries, which is why the price of oil has risen to around $70 a barrel, an unbelievably large amount.

I just dont understand what's going on in the British economy right now, fuel prices are at record heights, the housing market is grinding to a hault, the highstreet is suffering record low sales, the bank of england voted against the govenor on the interest rates decision for the first time ever, all of which would totally point to recession, except for the fact that the stock market is steaming ahead. I've never seen anything like it, we've been overdue a recession for some time now but all the major affecting factors seem to be contradicting each other.

You are right about the majority of New Orleans' people being black but there were more white people over there then you see on the TV at the moment. Just that the richer people who got away were mostly white, meanwhile lower class people, mostly black, did'nt have anywhere to go. The richer people got away, the poor are being shot for trying to stay alive.

The inner city is, to my knowledge, heavily black, but such is the case throughout most residential, downtown areas in america, especially throughout the east and south

What! People tried to shoot down a helicopter?***ERS!!!!!Some people just wait fo rthese kind of things to happen just to take advantage of the people who are tryig to help. :kader: :kader: :kader:
I heard about that. Some people, huh? What was most disturbing was (sorry I cant find the link) the snipers who were shooting at the most critical patients of a tulane hospital being evacuated :| :| :|

That is truly a sign to me that this country has hit the f*cking wall. There is no benefit in shooting at relief workers, yet people are doing it anyway. I mean, what are the positives if they kill someone, or shoot down that helicopter?? Im racking my brain for an answer and none comes to mind.

The god damned police, too, huh? You know, stealing is one thing. If I was in that desperate a situation (like the first guy) and the authorities werent coming for days, and all my sh*t had been taken I probably wouldnt have an ounce of contrition about robbing or looting. I dont steal in my own life, and I never have, but desperate times and all that. But the senseless violence is what I dont understand the most. You know, events like September 11th in this country made people realize, if only for a month, that some petty things didnt even matter anymore. The world had changed, and you could tell in the way people interacted in the days and weeks afterward: there was a certain comraderie about being an american. While Katrina is no earth moving, geopolitical event, it is just as tragic, yet alot of people just dont seem to give a rats ass, especially there in the heat of the moment.

Things are just getting worse and worse. This was the latest to hit, and now Iraq is going to be pushed to the backburner until another helicopter load of kids younger than me crashes and kills them all. I dont mean to sound like a drama queen there, and I know it sounds anti-american here, but its never been more clear to me that this nation is well past its zenith as an untouchable, unflappable world power.

God bless all those that have died and who are working to prevent others from suffering the same fate, and god help all the people involved

Edit: That link I provided is really excellent: the audio clip is just 12 minutes of the mayor just going off on everyone and describing the desperation and he holds nothing back.

I'll tell you what I dont wanna see. No more god damn press confrences

I can see how you would come up with that thesis but I disagree, America has been through tragic events in the past, this is nothing new. I believe that the reason why some people have started to look at it the way you do is because of the poor leadership that America has been under for the last 5 years.

KKKKKKKAAAAAATTTTTTRRRRRIINNNNNNAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The sad thing about this is not only the joke but what has happened. RIP to those who didn't survive. I can't even imagine how bad it is. Even for those who survived it is still horrible, it'll be difficult to get life back on track.

I'm gonna wait for Bush to go to war with mother nature. Afterall his solution to everything is war. Just 2 weeks ago mother natures allie, WIND, blew away Bush's bag of Cheetos. You don't want to make Bush angry...you won't like when he gets angry! Normally Rex Banner would say that and he would turn into the incredible hulk, but instead Bush turns into... DUMB PRESIDENT. They made a reality tv show about, it has Gary Busey. You know the crazy war veteran nutcase who has vast amounts of anagrams. Each time he talks .... pop...anagrams... you know. Gary had his reality tv show too, life with Busey... you know. Busey was cross dressing with his son... you know. Anyways here's an accurate dramatization of Bush when he declares war.

Dramatization...

Bush- I call last slice.
Hussein- no way jose..by the hands of Allah it's mine.
Bush- only one way to settle this.... 1..2..3..4..................................................................................................I DECLARE A THUMB WAR.(hussein throws in towel and tricks bush inbelieving he gave up but instead caught Bush off guard to win) That's not fair you throw in the towel.
Hussein- what towel?(towel is gone)
Bush-Best out of 3?

I wonder is he still on vacation? I mean how bad ass is that, staying on vacation while thousands to even millions are in grief. :chew: Something to chew on.
