I also saw Sin City and War of the Worlds this week but have posted my opinion on them in their specific threads.

my 2 top movies this year.
I put War of the Worlds on top because it blew me away right from the start till teh end, while I had to watch Sin City twice to fully get it all in my head. of course, Sin City is the cooler and special movie that I will remember the most between the two in 5 years (Y)

Garden State on HBO (yes, I'm a bit late).

A bit of an emotional movie, I'd say. I could some-what relate to it.

are you here in the US? cause I watched it on Cinemax last night. not HBO :S

really want to watch Garden State, would you recomend it Hakeem?

TROD.
Are you joking? Hakeem loved it, and made his feelings on it extremely clear for several months! Dont you remember his sig, his numerous threads about it and the fact it was in his top five for the year?

I personally thought it was an amazing film, one of the best films of last year, and would highly recommend it.

newbie original

We apologize for keeping the yellow too long
Yellow Card
Just watched/rented Walking tall...not the best movie, should have been longer. The start of the thing seemed to suggest that it was goina be good but things really got rushed. Football game as a homecomming? And then trip to the hospital? YUCK! Should have been him travelling around the town visiting old friends' homes and meeting others along the way being introduced to kids who barely knew him. It seemed like he arrives but no one knows and then suddenly they see him in court after 8 years? Very little story line and too much of the Rock fighting guys half his size. True story but I' m sure that' s not the pace at which things ended up happening in reality. Anyways, Ashley Scott (C) looks better as a blonde...seems like her natural colour and it really suits her. :rockman:

cheers Sir_Didier_Drogba/hakeem ill give it a look.

Watched three films over the last few days :D

Cliffhanger

In my eyes arguably one of THE classic action films of the modern era, amazing special effects and settings make a clever and witty story all the better, put the boring stuff aside and this is a very capable action film with some wonderful parts of narrative, superb stuff and i simply wont back down on that (even though Sir_Didier_Drogba will say its crap). Sly is brilliant and John Lithgow's part is exceptionally written even if i cant get Third Rock from The Sun out of my head :p However many times i watch this movie i keep coming back to it; few movies manage that.

Rambo

Ah yes thank you ITV2 for your wonderful lineup, Sly in full swing in his best movie to date, wonderful acting by a usually poor Stallone and sublime performances from his comrades makes for a great movie with some whopping big political references. This film has been parodid so many times that it shows just how much of an influence this was on the cinema, the final scene is particularly poignant and Stallones acting is perfect for the part, a trully wonderful movie.

Interview with the Vampire

What a top class film, only seen this once before and i didnt make much of it as a 15yr old, a few years on its fully won me round in a veritible swing of brilliance, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and Kirsten Dunst are utterly fantastic and the acting simply blew me away, Cruise is worryingly demonic and 'hated' throughout the movie with subliminly well timed bouts of black comedy added in for effect. Pitt is equally exceptional and comes into his own after Cruise departs. Easily the star of the show is a young Kirsten Dunst in her first major role, easily the strangest and wonderful of scenes is when she is 'seducing' Pitt later on in the movie, indeed this is a great role to watch if slightly disturbing. The film in itself is a wonderful story capped with a fantastically hillarious ending; "Louis, Louis, still whinging.."

look out for a bit-part role from Christian Bale too.

of course. it's one of those movies that get stuck in your head for a long time and you want to relive it again and again. it also depends on your age though cause it's a very seminal movie for twentysomethings. But Ive known of teens and adults really compenetrating with the story and being touched by it. And acting is just superb from everybody.

O-car

Starting XI
I've seen it twice, and recently bought the DVD. It really stuck with me, I could really see myself in this character. Zach Braff really surprised me, didn't know what to expect from him having only seen him in Scrubs. The story was extreamly well written and the characters as well. Recommend it for anyone. on my top 5 list

Superstar
My girlfriend forced me to go Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with her today, meh it was ok but you know a kids movie :(, Johnny Depp was fantastic though (Y)

Collateral

:rockman:
Care to expand? :p

I saw The Descent today - not usually a big fan of horror films but this one was British and got 5 stars in Empire (very rare) so I felt I had to see it. It wasnt bad at all, either, even though the cast was made up of prettymuch just unknowns it was large enough that responsibility to carry it didnt rest too heavily on any one character and hence the acting was good, plus the storyline was highly original and gripping. No genuinely scary moments, but almost believable and some good, strong gore just to help things along. Definately in the top end of horror films, I would recommend it.
