True Alex, the odd good film
Saw IV
Good film, enjoyed the first two (not seen the third). I don't know, for all the Saw series' are so incredibly formulaic there is something catchy about them that endears the films that little bit more than others. I think the inventivness of the traps and the human binds the script puts on the film might be the reason. Either way, another good laugh
Old School
Meh. I was expecting too much i think. One of those films that somehow passed me by like a ship in the night at the cinema. Will Ferrell isn't at his best, Vince Vaughn plays the single most annoying character ever and only Luke Wilson and some ace cameos manage to rescue it. After seeing the more recent Superbad and Knocked Up (essentially along the same lines of comedy), it's hard to find Old School simply not
that funny. Ok, but not on the same level as some of the other 'Rat Pack' comedies of recent years.
Cruel Intentions
Probably seen Cruel Intentions four times, once for the lesbian kiss and the other three times just to watch it, i like it. Cruel Intentions is just one of those weird films which seems to be in a genre all of it's own, it's a black comedy romance with heavy dashings of drama put over a script that could have been lifted from Shakespeare. Good, very good at points, but still leaves you wondering if there is anyone normal or sane in the world. Either way, mesmerizing debut performance from Ryan Phillippe (who has never equalled it again) and decent support from Sarah Michelle Gellar and Reese "The Chin" Witherspoon. If you havent seen it, i advise you watch it, just to open your eyes to a brand new, one-film self-enclosed genre.
