To be fair, I think Rafa got his subs right for the most part. Benayoun triggered your best spell in the match. And Benitez realised that most of your attacks were ending with crosses headed away by Terry so he brought Aurelio on because he's a better crosser, and he also has a better longshot than Insua, and it could come in handy. If he had some of the chances Johnson had outside the area he could've been really dangerous. And Babel was supposed to add width and decisiveness in the final third. It didn't work out.
I wouldn't get too downhearted. It wasn't a bad performance, ours was simply better. Also, last year your problem was drawing too many games. You haven't drawn yet.
I wasn't sure whether to be disappointed or glad that Benayoun missed that shot near the end. I get why Lucas started over him, but he should really be playing every game, full games if possible. He did more in 10 minutes than the entire team did in an hour. I'm not biased.
But yeah, you'd better hope Aquilani is a good replacement for Xabik, because playing Benayoun means someone needs to play deeper, and for now that's Gerrard, but it clearly doesn't suit him as well as playing behind Torres.

It was a good match overall, albeit one we didn't deserve anything from. Benayoun is doing well, he surely deserves a spot. His miss at the end didn't really matter, but it could earn him some points in the dressing room...

look closely and u will c hell lot of space btw skartel and anelka. drogba sent a cross in and it was easy as hell to finish it. had insua chased him it would have been difficult and it could have provided wid the time fr skartel to recover and thus wid insua go 2 on 1 against anelka
as for the second goal again the defence. i mean ok carra is nt in his top frm this season and that he shouldnt have let drogba g around him it wasnt his fault as much as it was of the other defenders whm just let maluda slip in and make space to score a goal.
