Jeff Winter would be the one talking about the rules of the game. He is one of the most mistake-prone referees the EPL had in the last 10 years after Graham Poll.

Now let's see
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xaxcln_liverpool-v-manchester-united_sport

Pause at minute 9:20 - "Michael Owen's full body is behind Carragher, facing the net, with Carragher falling over behind and grabbing Owen's shorts"
The player has to be moving towards the goal = check

Pause at minute 9:22 - "Michael Owen is falling on the ground after being bundled over by Carragher, with the ball at an arm's length to his left"
Now, I don't know what Winter's definition of having full control of the ball, but to me, when you by far the closest to the ball, which is moving perfectly into your running path and you are within a close proximity that you can get to it long before anybody else, i'd say you are in full control of the ball, so i'm gonna say = check to that one as well.

Conclusion: Thank God, Jeff Winter is not refereeing anymore, the EPL refereeing standards are that much less ****tier without him.

As for the unnamed official, he would only make it worse if he actually admitted that the referees are terrible in the league, of coarse he'll defend the decision, he is ultimately defending his job.

If the rules are open to interpretation, you can't really blame the ref for making a decision in a split second. I won't convince you it wasn't a clear red card, and you won't convince me Carragher should have been sent off. Let's just agree to disagree.

I'd fully understand it if he was sent off, though.

Ref decisions will always be controversial. Even when they are clearly in the wrong, like they were in the beach ball situation, I can't really blame them for not stopping play.

We apologize for keeping the yellow too long

Senseless, really. There's very little hope for us finishing in the top 4 if this continues.

From the looks of it, we will struggle in away games.

I understand beach balls scoring against us, but Bobby Zamora?! We're doomed

I think it's time for Liverpool to focus on Champions League. It's very hard to win the league right now and they have a bad situation in their group as well.

Never knew Liverpool were that much reliant on Gerrard and Xabi Alonso. Without these 2, you look like a midtable team TBH.

Last year you guys looked world class with Gerrard Alonso and Torres playing. I think you guys badly need a good deep lying playmaker. Not sure whether Aquilani is the answer for it or not. Haven't seen him play.

No even when in attack, unless Gerrard, Torres or Benayoun do all the work, there's very little creativity. Lucas has improved fractionally, and everyone has moments of genius, but case in point, Mascherano has more posession, and makes more passes than anyone on your team. He makes 2 good passes per match, tops.

You make it easy for teams to park the bus, and you can't deal with their counters well enough. The problem is bigger than certain players not playing as well as they used to, much bigger.

That´s clear to everyone, we are not working as a unit and we keep doing thinks the wrong way, and we all know Alonso´s exit has a lot to do with it... is just a shame that he and Arbeloa left the team and know are just starting to get forgotten in Madrid, Xavi not that much but specially Arbeloa ... and what i meant in the last post is that our defense is missing much more the Carragher we had last season than Arbeloa.

That's Benitez's fault entirely. I don't care if he doesn't get enough money, small clubs have their best players leave all the time, and they don't struggle like you do. Liverpool need a Director of Football to oversee transfers.

Either Benitez sucks at picking players, or he sucks at training them. Just today it's been said that Dossena is looking to move somewhere else on a loan-to-buy.

Wow, I feel bad for Benayoun, he'll be playing his best footie at the Championship next year.

Seriously though, Benitez. Out. Now. I enjoy seeing you sell-distruct, but we still need you to get points off legitimate contenders like Arsenal, City, and Wolves.

If you want them to take points off other teams and not be a threat.. I believe what they are doing right now should be kept. There's no need for change.

They can't afford to fire Benitez. (H) He just signed a 4 or 5 year contract. If they fire Benitez they will lose around 20 millions adding to their 200 million debt.

Well, they're about to lose even more than that in CL TV rights for the knockout stages, cup money and next year's CL. Much more than that.

Seriously though, you do realise that you've failed to win all of your 'could-be-tough' matches, except for United.

Spurs, Villa, Sunderland, Chelsea, Fiorentina, Lyon, Fulham, Arsenal, Lyon.

You also got unconvincing wins over West Ham, Debrecen (at Anfield), and Bolton. In fact, you've only played well against Burnley, Hull and Stoke, all at home.
