Well Swansea's manager deliberately turned down the job without a second thought and Liverpool just asked fans on Twitter to help them find a new manager.

With all honesty, I don't think anyone is going to want that job with the club being unstable. A lot of players will leave and Aquilani is not returning for sure.

I think Don Fabio would have wanted Man City or Chelsea ... personally, I hope Roberto Mártinez gets the post ...

I know Liverpool don't have the best situation, but Brendan Rodgers is a ******* retard if he turned down Liverpool. Suarez, Carroll, Bellamy, Downing, and Kuyt is more than sufficient as an attacking 3. Reina is great. Agger and Skrtel both had like their best years of their careers and Jose Enrique is good enough to play in the Champions League. The midfield just needs a managerial vision and stability, but Lucas is returning from injury and that should help out a lot. Liverpool have a side that can crack the top 4 with a manager who puts the work in. Gerrard, Lucas, and then one from Henderson, Shelvy, Adam, Maxi, and Aquilani is pretty good.

I'm actually optimistic enough about Liverpool that I'm tempted to book a flight to Boston and sell myself to John Henry as Comolli's replacement. Their problem under Dalglish was 1) probably not the managerial work ethic and modern team preparation you expect from a manager in 2012, 2) injuries, 3) no squad cohesion, 4) over reliance on purchasing British players.

So midfielders are obviously needed. Look to Germany, there's Kagawa (what a coup that would be!) and the Benders, likely available for less than Henderson cost, look to Spain there's Thiago and an entire generation of skilled passers playing for clubs mired in debt, like Ander Herrera and Sergio Canales, not to mention Javi Martinez. Look to France and there are all kinds of physical freaks with the capability of breaking out in the Premier League like Marvin Martin, Yann M'Vila, Younes Belhanda, Andre Ayew, and Mathieu Debuchy.

Liverpool are close, IF they get the right leadership. Tell me why this is unrealistic:

Belhanda-Carroll-Suarez
Gerrard-Lucas-Canales
Enrique-Agger-Skrtel-Piszczek
Reina

Does that team win the Premiership? No it does not, but it has youth, flash, excitement, skill, pace, power, and it can be assembled relatively cheap. AND, if this team comes together it can compete in the Champions League against anybody except the very top (Barca, City, Madrid). Liverpool have a real opportunity here, and they only have themselves to blame if they run around like chickens with their heads cut off, not bringing in a General Manager until they hire a Manager inviting inevitable clashing in preferences, getting desperate and hiring a big name instead of who is right. If they make prudent signings in the foreign market (Spanish clubs need money, France prices are low), and bring in a young workaholic manager who is hired by a bright Director of Football who shares the same short and long term vision (I would look at Rafa as Director TBH), then the future can be very soon at Liverpool. Or they can watch the club and the brand turn to **** as they don't get a new stadium. Their call.
