I cant remember how many years Baros has been at Liverpool & what has he really done? A couple of good games but thats it. Cisse just returned from injury at the end of last season & they're already planning to offload him. Thats what i mean by him not getting a chance.

I've heard that we are interested in that Kuyt guy whos playing for Feyenoord, again. I'd hate to see Cisse go really, the guy does need more of a chance in the first time. He missed a few chances on saturday, but you give him a chance and he should reproduce the form that he had in the French league

Benitez expresses interest in striker

Crouch, Morientes, Cisse and Kuyt. In these days of excesses (i.e. Chelsea) coaches (even Fergusson) seem to be getting overly-cautious and preparing for the worst by stacking up on multiple players for one position.....unless ofcourse you have Thierry Henry (C). The way I see it, more competition should translate into better quality finishing from the other 3.

No news of this on the official website though.

There is a link to Tottenham's supposed intrest in Kuyt, but I remember seeing something about him expressing intrest in a move to Tottenham to play with a dutch manager, which I guess makes sense. They've lost Kanoute, and they may be also looking to send Keane to Newcastle in part exchange for Jenas, so if that wild, boundless rumor materializes....

I' d heard something like that too but I think both of these merely are springing up due to the transfer window. Benitez seems to let speculation drag on regarding his interests so it may be a while before this one goes away.

TBB, Spurs are always interested in everyone. Rule 1: When Spurs are linked to a player, don't take it seriously.

If you offer F-Word enough money, they'll sell and Kuijt will more than likely agree too. I'd guess that any offer under 15 million will be laughed at though... Kuijt is their captain and a regular starter on the national team. He's value will only increase after this season and they know that.

Haha (H)

Looking at the Crouch transfer, and how Benitez made his intentions known long before the deal was closed, I have to think that Liverpool will do whatever it takes, especially now that Baros is gone. I'd think Feyenoord are negociating from a position of strength, and should be able to get alot back like Arash said, because I'm not really sure the 'Owen back to Anfield' rumors have any merit to them

According to the latest stuff that I've read... Spurs are out of the race and the word from Rotterdam is that it's too late to sell Kuijt at this stage. This is coming from multiple sources.

a deal has been agreed with liverpool to take sinama pongolle on loan to aberdeen for a season :lui: its just up to the player now which is usually the stumbling block for aberdeen. if it happens... oh man (H) most liverpool fans are pretty gutted about this, suppose i would be if i wasnt an aberdeen fan as he's an excellent player and at the least should be on the bench for liverpool.

GO ON SINAMA!!! YOU KNOW IT MAKES SENSE!!!!!!!!!

Baffled. I had CinemaPopcorn pegged for our right wing slot when he regains full match fitness. Been excellent in that position for the couple of ressie matches he's been involved in. And now we're back in for Stelios. :jambo:

GREEK winger Stelios Giannakopoulos is in Liverpool's sights after the Reds made an official approach to Bolton.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez has declined the chance to bring Nolberto Solano to Anfield as part of the £6.5m Milan Baros transfer, and has turned to Greek midfielder Stelios for a bargain £1m.

Baros completed his transfer to Villa today, providing more funds for Benitez to strengthen other areas.

Benitez has tracked Stelios all summer as he seeks to increase his options on the right flank.

With deadline day looming, that interest has now materialised into an approach with the Greek having a get-out clause in his contract should Bolton receive a £1m bid.

Benitez's intentions in the transfer market are now taking shape.

He's confirmed his interest in Bundesliga pair Fernando Meira of Stuttgart and Lukas Sinkiewicz of Colgone. And he is also considering 20-year-old Dane Daniel Agger. Who arrives depends on their fee, with Agger currently priced beyond Benitez ' s valuation.

Liverpool want to sign a minimum of three players. With the right midfielder identified, and the defender likely to be one of the three listed, the attention will switch to the forward line.

Michael Owen dominates the agenda, but he now knows he faces a rival in Dirk Kuyt if the current stalemate continues.

Benitez openly admits his interest in the Feyenoord striker, but a move for the Dutchman is only likely if no progress is made with Owen over the next few days.

Contrary to ludicrous rumours, Benitez is under no pressure to complete a deal for Owen from chairman David Moores.

Nor will the chairman be dipping into his own bank account to finance a deal against Benitez's will.

The suggestion Benitez would yield to any boardroom interference when it comes to transfer targets is nonsensical, particularly as this was one of the reasons behind his departure from Valencia.

The delay has more to do with a delicate negotiation than any unwilling-ness on the manager's part.

Liverpool hope, as the transfer deadline approaches, Owen's fervent desire to return to Anfield will become clearer and Real Madrid will be realistic about an affordable deal.

Benitez today reassured Liverpool fans he's making progress in bringing the right players to the club.

"I'm not anxious about the situation," said Benitez today..

"I know when the end of the transfer window approaches there is a lot of anxiety, but I have a clear idea. When the right players come along, we'll sign them. If we can't, we will wait.

"However, we are confident we will find the right players. Our scout department is doing a good job and they have worked really hard for us. We have the names and we would like to bring some of them here."

Liverpool face CSKA Sofia tonight. Didi Hamann will return for the absent Steven Gerrard, while Djibril Cisse starts in a striking role.

aye you probably tend to disagree with me cos you usually speak pish i guess.

i heard lyon are wanting to sign sinama :( reckon he'll turn them down for aberdeen?!?! :D it depends if rafa wants to give him to us for a season or lose him permanently to lyon. you know what to do rafa (H)

Well to be honest, I've hardly ever seen Pongolle play so I can't comment on how good he is. I do think that Stelios is crap however, and I wish we could have just spent that £2 million on Figo instead. Why ARE we happy paying £2 million for him and not Figo??

So is Stelios a RMF or what? I mainly remember him pissing around on the left at Bolton... I really hope that Benitez will be doing a Wenger with his transfers... otherwise we are just signing people who send our hard-earned money spiralling down the drain...

Rafa was just on ITV and he said that 'pool are not getting Owen at all, and are still looking for an RM plus a CB. So does that mean you haven't actually signed Stelios yet?
