A third place is also possible if you defeat Arsenal this week.

Their form is terrible at the moment.

Two tough games in hostile environments against top teams....I was hoping for draws in both games because we sure as hell didn't have the firepower to beat either team.

Got the draw against Man City. Ref screwed us out of a late penalty against Arsenal that would have given us a point in that game.

Bah, not so bad I guess...........

We needed that win against Blackburn. I almost fell asleep during the 5 minutes leading up to their only goal(penalty).....we were sitting back and waiting for them to do something. That can't continue. Good to see Torres score.

Jamie Carragher, at the age of 32, has said that he will have no problem signing for another club........if Liverpool decide not to offer him a new contract. His current contract ends at the conclusion of the 2010-2011 season.

Pepe Reina and Mascherano are reportedly very close to signing new deals....both are in their mid-20s.

That loss on Monday to a little nothing team, that is flirting with relegation, was unacceptable. It will be hard to get 4th place now......we still have to play a Red Hot Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Yeah but you lot always play like it's the world cup final against us, regardless of form.

I just hope I never see United play as badly as they did at OT last season. When Vidic f*cks up you know it's bad.

I don;t know why we should be even considering fielding a full strength team for this Europa League game. Rest the regulars for ManU and don't worry about this second tier competition. League standing should be our priority.

Unfortunately Rafa won't allow that and the exact opposite of lasy year;s equivalent(4-0 over RM and 4-1 over ManU) of this week is a very realistic possibility.

Albert Riera has been banned from the training ground for lashing out at Rafa Benitez and saying that he is not managing the team correctly and specifically has something personal against him(Riera).

Real shame......he says he wants to make the Spanish team for the World Cup and Rafa's mis-managing of him(Riera) will cost him a World Cup spot. His agent/manager has not advised him very professionally. It's too late to transfer him now and him being banned has now GUARANTEED that he WILL NOT be able to improve his chances of making the national team.

Well he's banned only for a while... He will surely be back in the squad within weeks. And he's not good enough for the Spanish NT IMO. He's very average.

2-1 loss to United. We're 4 points back of 4th place....could be 5 back if Man City win their games in hand.

Knowing Rafa, he might start resting players for the damn Europa League. What a shame that would be.

I'm here to admire Liverpool fair play against United. They kicked the ball out in couple of scenes when they were behind and had the dangerous position. That's really impressive.

Apart from that it was a tight game. That Torres shot at the end reduced my life at least 15 years.

Citys games in hand could take them to 59 points. wouldnt that be 8 points behind?

If Aston villa win there games in hand that could put you guys in 7th place. And then there's a danger of Everton pipping above you in the table.

There again there all bound to lose points before the end of the season.

So I had a look at the remaining schedules of the teams around us (something I hate doing, because most of the time I am overcome with jealousy and hatred)....Spurs, Everton, Aston Villa and Man City.

Villa, City and Tottenham ALL face a tough lineup of games over the course of the remainder of the season. It all starts with Villa vs Chelsea this weekend. These are ALL games where those 3 teams could drop points. In fact they ALL CAN and WILL DROP POINTS.......and we have to be there to "collect those dropped points" if you know what I mean. By comparison, other than an Anfield game against Chelsea, our remaining schedule consists of piss poor teams that we SHOULD and MUST beat! Everton also face an easy schedule.....other than one game against Aston Villa.

We have 7 games remaining and need to drop NO MORE THAN 4 or 5 points TO HAVE ANY CHANCE OF COMPETING FOR 4th PLACE.
