Good result for Man Utd, although i think Ferdinand commited penalty on Pongolle. I think Liverpool deserved a better luck after losing those chances, although they didnt do much on the first half besides the possesion they had.

I'm no gunner. I have some empathy for Liverpool, and my opinion is that the best result would be a draw, but that's my opinion, also, Pongolle was in the middle of 2 Man Utd players, he fell to the ground and both Man Utd players didnt touch the ball, you want me to think that it wasnt a penalty? Well, i wouldnt dive in that situation, because if i'm not mistaken, Howard wouldnt catch the ball if Pongolle was standing on his feet, but anyway, that's my opinion, you dont have to agree with me. Good result for Man Utd, but they still need to cheer against Chelsea today to get the 2nd spot.

rightly said.. it should have been a penalty.. but fair enough to the ref who doesn't have the replay ability that we have on tele... this kind of decision sometimes you get it and sometimes u don't...

Yep. Here in Brazil we do interview them sometimes, but even when they're wrong they say that there was no mistake...:kader:
Also, i agree with Amika, although it was a penalty (at least in my opinion), people make mistakes, it's easier looking the replay 5 times and then state your opinion than looking at the play one time and make the right decision. It's almost based on pure luck, sometimes decisions doesnt go your way, but that's football..

LOL. Maybe, although they were more effective when they attacked, Liverpool just made something after the 2nd goal, apart from that, they passed the ball too much, and didnt create any great chance to score.

Not enough in it to be a penalty, Pongolle lost balance, Ferdinand barely made contact.

Well, no use discussing it to say the least... Man Utd got away with all 3 pts, and Liverpool still struggling when they face the so called "greats", losing to Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd, all 3 at home...:f***: But i dont think he dived, maybe he lost balance, anyway, i still think it was a penalty.:crazyboy: :D

I believe Liverpool were on the better end of the referee's discisions. First half he did really well, not to throw around with cards, but in the second half I felt that ManUtd was denied a free kick at times. Diouf was lucky to get away without a red card. He was immidiately substituted after that as well.

About the penalty, good disiscion by the referee. Ferdinand din't play the ball I'll give you that, but neither did he bring down the player. There really wasn't enough contact for that. A penalty desiscion would have been really harsh. It's just unfortunate that Heskey slipped away when he couldn't miss, and that Murphy squandered a great opportunity when he just had to make contact.

Football is becoming so bloody poncy! It seems you are not allowed to tackle people making contact with them at the same time! What the hell are shinpads made for!? The rules are becoming far too lady-like and, don't take offence to this, it's all because of girly continental european players who can't take anything physical.

Its times like these i love Heskey not being in my team :). Forlan is better, but what a goal by Kewell. Good Giggs goals, and a very fine match.

How was that not a penalty :o

For me it was a penalty. And about the guy complaining about the lady-like rules, did you see the foul Diouf made after his first yellow card? He could injury the other player seriously.

Help?

Good game in the end. I had a feeling that United will get this one 2-1 just like last season, before the half-time break. I was calm watching the game, but after Kewell scored, my heart nearly popped-out wathing those 17 minutes. And when Heskey had that chance i nearly fell of my sofa and in the end i did, but that was from laughing at his miss. The lone Liverpool striker for the game and has only one shot of targt and even that shot was soooo ugly! Look at Howard's face after the miss, he couldn't believe it himself, he looked like someone that got soooo much trouble and got out of it very nicely. Bring on Chelsea now!
How can anyone say that HEskey is like Forlan? Forlan is WAY better.

BTW i still can't stop laughing at Kewell. lol he said "i choose Liverpool, because they are the rising team and will have the best chance to win the EPL in the upcoming season, especially with me" lol And now he lost to all 3 clubs interested in him. I enjoyed the face too and he should have came to United, because he would have been a starter there for sure. But i admit that after the game it wasn't the face that he picked the wrong club, he was just too frustrated at a loss to his main rivals for life (at Leeds and Liverpool) and of corse at his supper striker Heskey.
