Liverpool vs. Leverkusen (CL) [P+R]

Yes, this not a Uefa Cup game like some might imagine. :)

The first leg is tomorrow at Anfield Road

Kick off: 19.45 GMT/20.45 CET

Liverpool is hard team to predict. They're missing their most important player (Gerrard) and without him I can't see them advancing to the next round.

I have the feeling that Leverkusen will get something out this match, an away goal is very important.

What do you all think?

hopefully we can win. but I'm not so sure since Gerrard is missin, Morientes can't play. I say 2-0 Liverpool. Baros and Kewell scoreing.

the CL seems to mean little to liverpool.

Why would they sign a cuptied forward to replace Cisse/Sinama

I doubt there will be more than 2 goals scored in this match.
Either a 1-1 draw, or 1-0 Liverpool.

yeah, the draw really sucks this year. all the "big" games are played this round, meaning that either the next round is going to be big teams vs. little guys, or again big teams vs big teams, and little vs. little, bringing those little teams even further in this competition. not that its bad for the little teams, but it takes the suspense away from advancing.

Leverkusen 3-0 Real Madrid
Real Madrid 1-1 Leverkusen

Sorry but Real deserved a hard opponent this round. :)

leverkusen should win, too many key players missing for pool

Watching Liverpool's often prosaic football, by contrast, more often prompts thoughts of "what the hell is this team doing playing in the Champions League anyway?" Despite an influx of continental signings made by Rafael Benítez, little seems to have improved since Gérard Houllier was dismissed in May. Perhaps tomorrow's tie against Bayer Leverkusen might at last ignite Liverpool's season of inconsistency and underachievement but, frankly, I doubt if even the most impassioned Reds supporter is expecting that Benitez will suddenly happen upon the winning formula of years gone by.

true ;). but if Bayern would make it to the final, wouldnt you rather see Bayern-Chelsea/Barca/Real than Bayern-Monaco/Porto/PSV?

Some good omens :) At Anfield, Liverpool have not lost a single match against German clubs (11 wins, three draws).
Bayer Leverkusen have played English opponents on 10 previous occasions winning only one (one win, three draws, six losses).
On English soil, Leverkusen have recorded one draw and four defeats against English clubs. Personally i can't see Leverkusen coming here to win as Jose Mourinho would say "We have a saying in Portugal that they brought the bus and left the bus in front of goal." thats what they would be doin all game its up to us to break them down they will frustrate us for long periods.Im confident we will win by 2-0 or 3-0 its important to keep a clean sheet hopefully the crowd will get behind the players :)
