Answer
Firstly, check to see if your video card is compatible with the game and that it is one from the list below:
16 MB Direct3D capable video card using the NVIDIA GeForce4, NVIDIA GeForce3, NVIDIA GeForce2, NVIDIA GeForce 256, NVIDIA Riva TNT2, NVIDIA Riva TNT, NVIDIA Quadro, 3dfx Voodoo5, 3dfx Voodoo 4, ATI Radeon 8500, ATI Radeon 7500, ATI Radeon 7200, ATI Radeon VE, ATI Radeon, Matrox Parhelia, Matrox MGA-G550, Matrox MGA-G450, Matrox MGA-G400, SIS Xabre, or Intel i810 chipset with DirectX 8.1 compatible driver.
If you have one of the above listed video cards, please ensure that the detail level in the game's Options screen is set to full.
If you're not sure what video card you have, please Click Here for guidance on how to find out what video card you have.
If you have one of the above mentioned supported video card, ensure that you have the latest video card driver installed. If you require further assistance in reference to drivers, please Click Here.
If you are still experiencing the same issue after you have established that you have one of the supported video cards (listed above) and have the latest video card driver installed, (whilst checking what the detail level is set to Full in the game), please check the video card acceleration level which must be set to full.
To do this in Windows 98/ME, right click the My Computer, left click Properties and then click the Performance Tab. At the bottom of System Properties, you will see the Graphics button. Click this and you will see the acceleration bar. Ensure this is set to full.
To do this in Windows 2000/XP you will need to follow these steps to adjust the acceleration level for the video card:
Right click the desktop and left click “properties”
Left click the Setting tab
Left click the Advanced button in the bottom right hand corner
Click on the Troubleshoot tab and there you will find the hardware acceleration slide bar controller for the video card.
