SAF has spent 50m pounds this summer without upgrading any position that he actually needed to upgrade. He could have paid Javi Martinez's buyout with enough left over for Jan Vertonghen.

We got Kagawa which is money well spent. Much better spent than 40m on Martinez.

Bayern are not worried about their finances. We're at the point where the question isn't "is it good value?", but rather "does he significantly help the team?" Shame you can't think like that.

Welbeck and Chicharito...

Anyway, is there a gif of this thing? I hear it was gross.

At least we can now live without Rooney.

I don't think Rooney will be out for long. Skin lacerations usually heal very easily. Within 2 weeks most of the time, unless its complicated..

EDIT: Rooney's out for 4 weeks. Its not gonna make much of a difference because his form has been crap.

Evans should be back next week. Hopefully we will see Carrick in midfield again. We struggled to control Fellaini last week and Dembele this week because we didn't have a defensive midfielder. Having 2 proper defenders and a DM should help us concede less goals.

based on one match?

Btw, United and De Gea should really concentrate more on crosses. We concede so many goals from them, that issue cost us the title last year (Everton/City goals).

De Gea should communicate more with defenders during crosses and set pieces, it's normally a chaos ...

Rooney will be out for longer than first thought.

Apparently the cut was to the bone, and they even had to stitch the muscle.

Funny that no one is worried at all with Rooney being out for 4+ weeks. If this happened last year, some would've thought our season's "done". I wonder if Rooney will regain his place in the starting lineup if Kagawa and RvP form a good partnership up front.

Our midfield has been looking great so far btw, including the Everton defeat. Now its our defense screwing up. Lets not get carried away though. Remember how Cleverley and Anderson were playing at the beginning of last season? Few months later we had to bring Scholes out of retirement.

Do we really need a new midfielder? Scholes' replacement is Kagawa, who is a great purchase. Cleverley and Anderson are still in their early 20s and are getting better and better each year. It would be nice to get a defensive midfielder though. We have just 1 defensive midfielder: Carrick.

No, based on a few months. Did you watch him at the EUROs and pre-season? He was in bad form. His form wasn't that good at the later stages of last season as well.

Going forward might look ok, but I'm extremely worried by the fact that we can't get dynamic and strong opponents under control. Fellaini and Dembele kept causing problems which was a feature last season against the likes of City, as well as in the CL against Basel, Bilbao etc.

Carrick, Anderson and Cleverley just can't cope in those situations. Fletcher's return would be a boost, but it's times like these that make me miss players like Roy Keane.

Scholes of the late nineties/early 2000s was a bit like Kagawa. He often played just behind the main striker. Scholes now plays much deeper.
