Agreed...Plus, wouldn't Brown be the best RB option potentially? I just think Neville is too old and with the injuries he's been having, I very much doubt we'll be able to depend on him.

O thanks for that heads up I did not see Neville tucked in there. NO Thanks to him aswell. He was simply horrific on his return from injury, horribly outpaced and all too shakey,No thank you.

Why did we not sign Glen? I know rafeal is there but his defending is not up to scratch and he is often caught out so that position looks quite uncertain.

Am not so sure about this season anymore

I think Rafael and Fabio are great. They can be the next Evra. Paying 18 millions for Glen Johnson is just ridiculous. He's not worth that much and unnecessary expenditure considering we have 3 good players who can play in that spot currently. Who knows, maybe Rafael could be our first choice RB this coming season.

The Glen Johnson money is well spent. Remember back in the day when your right flank had Neville and Beckham and Arsenal while Henry and Pires on their left. You could be sure that both those teams would attack from those sides 90% of the time, but it still worked most of the time cause those combos were unstoppable. I think that's what Liverpool are aiming for and it could work, Kuyt is made to play like a goal poacher while Johnson gets the ball to him.

If that's your view on why Glen's money is well spent, then you can talk about any other left or right side combo. The fact is Liverpool paid to much for him, whiles they have Arbeloa whom was handling himself quite well. During his Chelsea period Glen couldn't handle himself in the CL etc, he was the weakest link in the team. And your comparison between partnerships is a bit odd as David is a midfielder and Gary a defender, both Henry and Pires were part of the attack...

He was 20 then at chelsea. He is in his prime now and face it liverpool now have a much better RB than us. So thats RB,AMF,CF all positions which liverpool are much better than us in.

You are the most negative Manchester United supporter I have ever seen in this forum. It is all doom in your eyes, just wait and see....And you are underestimating Rafael here, the kid is just 18 and Glen is already in his mid-twenties and the FACHT is that there isn't much difference between them in terms of quality...

I am realist, am not going to pretty it up because i am a fan, F*** that. Rafael cannot defend well,Glen Johnson is better at both attacking and defending and there is a big difference there at the moment. Thats the FACT.

Then I wonder what your views where when Ruud left.....cause I can't imagine you saying that we would have been better with one striker in Saha. And besides that, the transferwindow hasn't officialy opened yet. We don't know who SAF will sign, but we have enough quality to fight for the title again, who knows maybe we will be more of a team without Ronaldo. You can't judge the next season already, just because Liverpool signed a right-back. If I remember correctly Rafael was part of our record-breaking defence.

We may have signed Valencia: http://www.footylatest.com/man-utd-sign-antonio-valencia-for-1525m/6690

Could turn out to be a great winger for us. He's more of a teamplayer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9tyg7p0AvY

^ Seriously, we don't need a damn right back. We have O'Shea who while isn't "class" is a true professional and always gets the job done. Brown was fantastic 2 seasons ago and we won the league and CL with him. Rafael is an 18 year old with endless potential.

I am not judging the season at all. Rafael has potential,OK. Glen at the moment is still better. I have no problem with O'shea or Brown taking the role but not Rafael not yet. My point still goes Liverpool's RB slot is better than ours.

And what about the other positions at the back?

Only 3 positions that you claim Liverpool are better than us. So whats there to worry? We are better in the other 8 positions from what you say.

Glen might be slightly better but Rafael has the potential to become better than Glen Johnson. Maybe he can play better than Glen next season. He's not too far from him.

Then what's your problem? We have good players for the RB slot whom in my opinion are (potentially) better then Glen. Players whom can identify themselves with the club are important too. Look at the likes of Fletcher, Gary, O'shea, Evans, etc...they wouldn't complain about anything. You seem to forget that with THIS defence we currently hold the record for most cleansheets. And Evans, Rio, Vida, Rafael, Evra and O'shea all played their part in it. So no need for a RB.....Rafael is already showing us what he can do at his young age, Glen wasn't near him when he was 18/19.

I have no problem with our RB position except Glen would of been the definite mainstay there as Brown and O'shea tend to float around and Gary is no longer on par. Once again Rafael is not that good defensively but yes he has potential, everybody does!

He could start but you are talking on him as if he's god or something. 18 millions is also too much. Why spend 18 million in a position we're covered? That's not our priority. TBH, I think Rafael is not far from him. Just needs more experience and he will become better than Johnson.
