It's no Alcorcon, but it's still humiliating.

more humiliating, if you put Leeds rivalry in the consideration.

Anyway, it looks like the defeat became ordinary for our players especially at Old Trafford and that's disgusting.

The last thing we need at the moment is a derby match against City at their home, oh lord.

regarding new transfers, Buffon/Maicon/Silva/Ribery/Villa won't happen at all. We will end up with bunch of under 20 players. One of them will become the World's best and others nothing.

Who gives a **** about the league cup game against city? I'm pretty sure it will be our youngsters against city first teamers. I don't care if we lose coz this is clearly not something we are focussing on. But that FA cup game against Leeds should have been taken more seriously. I don't know why fergie doesn't take the FA cup seriously anymore.

I'm beginning to question Fergie's decisions more and more in general recently. Also the debt / money issue is really beginning to concern me.

I can't work this team out, sometimes they look brilliant and other times they look like they couldn't care less. Only Rooney and Anderson looked bothered. Berbatov looks woefully out of form, Gibson didn't do well and Obertan looked off colour as well.

These are not Manchester United quality players on this form. And I'm seriously beginning to wonder if there shouldn't be a big rebuilding programme forthcoming (if we have the money) because if we don't I think we'll wind up like Liverpool next season and without UCL football, how long will we hold on to Rooney? Chelsea will buy big, Liverpool will buy big, Arsenal will add and City will play Monopoly. Can we honestly say if Villa goes to Chelsea or City, that we can compete?

This team is clearly not good enough, and I shudder to think about what Milan will do to us next month.

Not good. I'm beyond angry, those 11 men embarrassed themselves and the name of United. And I'm not convinced the majority of them even care.

We definitely need a forward or a creative midfielder. We are missing that spark. We don't look threatening at all. Fergie is a great manager but some of his decisions r just bizzare. FA cup 3rd round against leeds at home and he rests some of our key players. This is not the carling cup! He got it wrong a few times this season. and he's so adamant not to sign anyone. Owen just doesnt cut it. Its the day after the leeds defeat and im still hurting. I hope the players feel the same way.

You're not alone, I don't think the majority of players actually care as much as the fans, and I think a lot of it is down to the fact that they are paid beyond the dreams of avarice if they play well or not. Wayne Rooney is probably the last of the breed that plays with pure passion. I'm sure the true fans would give almost anything to pull on that red shirt - that's the passion we should expect from our players.

To be honest, as long as those players in the United shirts give everything they have - then I can handle defeats better - that's football.

But when there is no passion or effort - it makes me very angry. It is us who have to read the gloating papers, or watch the smugness on Skysports (and the paper bloke today was asking for a smack) - or take the stick from workmates etc. (or Rony) Fans of other clubs think we make this up, but United's downfalls are lapped up by the other clubs' supporters. You only have to look at the effort Rony takes to post in here everytime we stumble.

I honestly don't believe that half of the sqaud grasp what it is to be a United player, and that too makes me sad.

Perhaps in the wider picture, it would do us good to not win anything this season - because then hopefully Fergie will see we are nowhere near the level we need to be, and secondly because maybe that will inject hunger into the players themselves.

And doesn't it make you think that statement is worrying in itself?

Teamtalk.com has a report on the United phone in last night.

One of the major factors in United success was always their consistency and concentration throughout the season. we lack it this year. I hate the fact that our players need a defeat as an alarm during this campaign.

The current form and more importantly the concentration scares the hell out of me.

The game has been postponed! Due to heavy snowing. It will be played on the 19th.

Btw there are many reports linking us with Hulk. Don't know if its true or just rumours. Any thoughts?

EDIT: forget it. apparently these rumours are from the sun :coffe-anim:

I'm not quite angry to the same degree but I share your frustrations completely. I too am very concerned by the debt. I've not got an exact figure but I believe that its over 600 million which is a huge amount. I heard on five live last night that the sale of Ronaldo, a world record breaking transfer, will only cover two years worth of interest, not even reducing the capital. Now thats scary.

The money is due in 2017, which is creeping closer. A take over could help but who would take over a club with such debt? Even if it is a club like Manchester United.

Its nothing like a Leeds scenario at the moment, but spending most probably will be drastically reduced because of the debt and if the titles don't keep coming and the money that goes with them then the worst is possible. Its making me rue the expensive deals that haven't worked tbh, Veron, Forlan, Hargreaves (not enough for the money for me) e.t.c

Berbatov I'm sorry to say I have lost faith in completely. He's got a nice touch but the work rate isn't there and neither are the goals really. We've become too reliant on Rooney up front for me and he can't be expected to score as many as Ronaldo did. Berba is never worth 30 mil thats for sure and I personally would welcome Edin Dzeko in his place if he would come/if the money was there.

Still as fans we can't do anything about the money situation and just hope we keep winning on the pitch. We're still in the champions league and very much in the premier league hunt, so I'm still upbeat right now despite the debt :)

If the Glazers were to sell, then I'm sure buyers would flock to purchase United. Already there are rumours of a Hong Kong Consortium studying a £1Bn bid. Whatever damage the Glazers have done, United's name and global merchandise streams would be very attractive. My hope would be that the next takeover will be paid for in full.

The question is whether the Glazers would sell or not, they would certainly make a tidy profit from an auction, and surely that's why they bought us in the first place.

I find it very ironic that people couldn't wait to stop Rupert Murdoch and Sky (who had the money and probably would have poured millions in) and the Government, no less put a stop to it (lest United become more powerful) - but when some guy who wants to plunge us into debt comes in, no-one did anything! I know the fans' protest was that the club should belong to no one individual - but I think you see my point.

Manchester United is a global institution and something that contributes greatly to this country's economy and heritage. But that's another rant for another time.

The game being called off would allow us more time to get more players back, so it's not all bad - though I guess it's longer to stew over the Leeds match.

I don't think playing again would necessarily have been a bad thing. Fergie will still be livid and get the players fired up for the occassion, who should themselves be very keen to get out there asap and help put things right so to speak (even though that can't be properly done you get the point).

Anyway I reckon the Glazers should sell in the near future. They would make a profit given the success of the club in recent years. The debt would still be a problem I would imagine. That sort of money is a massive liability to have. An Arab billionaire for example could certainly cope with that though.

God, the pessimism in here makes me want to shoot myself.

1. Transfers: Chelsea will be banned from buying for 2 years, Arsenal doesn't buy period and Liverpool will never spend as long as that American is in charge.
2. Fergie's lineup on Sunday: As far as I can remember, apart from 3-4 players, it was our first choice lineup, so no need to jump on his back saying he puts out crap teams for FA Cup. Ferguson never played his full first team in early stages of FA Cup.
3. Pessimism: get that **** out of your system, reading this thread is like taking Prozac by a child (not as bad, but you get my point).

Honestly, there is 138 pages in this thread and if any of you care to read them, then please go back every five pages and you'll see the huge mood swings in the posts, its like you are all bipolar. United wins, life is amazing and the team has no problems, United loses and suddenly we are about to crash with no point of return, then we win again.

Haha...you just described my attitude perfectly.

I expect United to be the best team in England every season. I expect them to win every game they play. When they don't I get pissed.

I am more angry this season in particular because we sold our best player and let our hardest working player sign with our crosstown rivals.

The Ronaldo thing pisses me off a lot, and will for a while. It would be one thing if we sold him so that we could take the huge transfer fee and buy a bunch of new players in an attempt to improve the team. But evidently we sold him to help pay off debt that our stupid owner put on us, and that really bothers me.

1: Chelsea will be buying, I don't think for a second FIFA have the guts to ban them - they are afraid of clubs with Chelsea's money. Arsenal will strengthen - Wenger is shopping for strikers. City will be spending too.

2: I agree, on top form that was a strong team, but players who don't put maximum effort in (like Sunday) are not the sort of players I can get behind. We were beaten on pure desire.

3: Apologies for the pessimistic view, but it's very hard to convince myself that the club is in rude health given our stuttering form, reports of debt and being humilliated by a League 1 club in the FA Cup. I know things can turn for the better, I remember the 99 European Cup Final - but it seems recently there's been a lot more stuttering than stunning from United, and that concerns me.

I'm not ripping into United for the sake of it, I know we don't have a devine right to win everything - but I would suggest we could reasonably expect better than we got on Sunday.

The Sun is saying that Gary Neville is ready to retire at the end of this season (given the Sun's credibility - that's not really confirmed)

Better news is the lad Diouf has been granted International Clearance and has been allocated United's vacant #32 shirt. Apparently he's been looking good in training and may play in the next week or two.

Always interested to see how the new lads do, if Ole reccomended him then he must have something.

Nady;2790076 said:
He's expected to come back on the 31st January. O'Shea and Evans are expected back on the 9th January. Nothing is known about Ferdinand and Van Der Sar yet. But I think we can manage with Vidic Brown in the centre for now. They are both solid defenders.

I can't speak for others, but the reason for my negativity in my last post was that I didn't realise before a couple of days ago that the Ronaldo sale will only cover two years worth of interest, so basically won't go any way to paying off the huge debts. Seeing as Ronaldo was the greatest asset out of the playing staff I think this is quite a concern.

Looking forward to seeing Diouf anyway, I hope he's got a bit more about him than Manucho did. We could use another Solskjaer really, that was a sensational buy from Fergie for the money.
