Fergie talks about "rebuilding"

As for City, I don't think it's good from the point of view that they would be more attractive to elite players if they got champions League football - plus I think Spurs deserve it more because they have played better football.

I hope the City V United games become as big as the Milan derby, or the Old Firm games, but the idea of City being in the elite makes my blood run cold. Because of nothing else, it's the arrogance and mentality of some of their fans - as well as their unhealthy obsession with what we're doing.

Anyway, since everyone is guessing about United's movements, here's mine.

OUT:

Foster: He had the chance early in the season, and failed to make the most of it. When Tomas had a really good spell, the writing was on the wall for Ben. Perhaps a loan move would be benificial, although if a good offer comes up I think we'd take it.

Possebon: In limbo really, was out on loan to Braga but they sent him back. I really can't see him breaking into the first team squad.

Carrick (possible): Seems to have lost his big game form and was caught in possetion very easily in key games, again if a good offer came in then I could see us letting him go.

Berbatov (possible): Perhaps Fergie will let Berba go. To me he is in the same bracket as Diego Forlan, a world class player who never really got into his groove at United. I fully expect Berbatov to flourish with any team we sold him to.

IN:

Another goalkeeper: I think Fergie will use this summer to get in Edwin's long term successor. I like Igor Akinfeev, he impressed me with his displays in the UCL against us.

A creative midfielder: The young lad Krasic has been linked with us, like Akinfeev he impressed with CSKA Moscow against us. I also expect Anderson to come back and take this role too. Would Villa sell us James Milner? I would be excited if he did come to us, but as I said I don't think Villa would part with him.

Two strikers: Ideally we need a striker to play alongside Rooney, and another to cover for him. Assuming we get Hernandez' permit through, I think he'll be the latter - As for a complimentary strike partner for Wayne - Villa would be ideal (but the price will be silly) It sounds silly, but I'd love to see Diego Forlan back - with his form and confidence, I think he'd slot in to being a United player easier this time.

I think we will buy, but even without additions our full strength XI is pretty formidable;

GK: Van Der Sar
RB: Neville / Rafael
CB: Ferdinand
CB: Vidic
LB: Evra
LW: Nani
AM: Scholes
DM: Hargreaves
RW: Valencia
CF: Berbatov
CF: Rooney.

I'm just going to throw this out there...we should buy Gareth Bale.

He's only 20 years old...long-term replacement for Evra, or can be used in the midfield in a 4-3-3...imagine our left side in a 4-3-3 with Evra, Bale and Nani.

But...I don't think Spurs would sell him for all the money in Manchester.

I was going to ask why we need a replacement for Evra, but then I checked his birth date. He's (days short of) 29 already?!
But seriously, he's got a good five years at least. Shouldn't a replacement for Gary be more pressing?

I think we should really go for david silva. He's open to a move but the problem is valenica will probably ask 100million.

Rafael is going to be the long-term replacement on the right, and I think he will do well.

The beauty of a player like Bale though is that he can play either defense or midfield. It would be good to have a versatile player like that.

Yeah, but would City sell him to us? I don't think so.

Today's rumours are:

Berba and Carrick swap for Modric and Bale (I really can't see Spurs agreeing to this)

United Benzema deal is "close" apparently (Spanish sources)

United set to gamble and wait until after world cup to sign Rooney.

Same old, same old really.

I don't want Modric and I don't want Carrick leaving...I would love to see Berbs swapped for Bale though, but that will never happen.

There was just something on ESPN the other day about Benzema saying he has no regrets over snubbing United last summer and wants to stay with Madrid, so I can't see him coming here...plus add in the current scandal he is in and it's too much a distraction.

Rooney has two years left on his contract...there is no need to worry about him signing a new one this year.

Well, we have Fabio at LB.

Btw, Ireland stated in the past that he's a United fan. He was given the chance to play for United in his youth. He even trained with us but he was not happy. He chose city because he thought he would get more playing opportunities.

I haven't really seen much of Fabio to be honest, I think I've only seen him come on as a late sub one time.

If he's as good as his brother, or at least has the potential his brother has, then I'd say he would make for a good long-term replacement for Evra.

The thing about Bale though...if not on defense he could be used as a left winger too. Like I was talking about earlier, in a 4-3-3 we could have Bale on the left flank in the middle of the field and Nani on the left further up...would be a pretty sick combination I think.

ESPN reporting that Malcolm the Deceiver will reject a 1.5 billion pound bid from the Red Knights.
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=782850&sec=england&cc=5901

This man is really starting to piss me off. Nobody wants him here, doesn't he understand that? He needs to do the honorable thing and step aside.

I don't even like saying this as a joke, but I think the only way we're getting rid of him is if someone assassinates him.

I just did the conversion...that is $2.2 billion US. An inconceivable amount of money. The audacity of him to reject such an offer is beyond any ridiculousness I have ever heard of.

That's true. They are stubborn idiots and will never leave. Leaving United would mean a loss of investment. And IF he's "assassinated", his asshole sons will take over the ownership I guess.

I saw Fabio play a few times and yeah he's as good as Rafael. He's also naive like his brother and like to hold players back. I remember us conceding a penalty thanks to him. They're very similer these 2. The reason why Fabio plays less is because he's injured more often and Evra is very consistent at LB.

The glazers valuation is 1.6 billion. Analysts have estimated due debt issues a realistic figure would have to be more then 2 billion.

Wait, are you talking pounds or US dollars right now?

This potential offer would certainly allow Glazer to pay off the debt and still come away with an enormous amount of money, correct?

I'm wondering his reasons for wanting so desperately to stay...financial or personal pride? In other words, does he want to stay because he wants to make money on it, or does he want to stay because he would feel like a failure walking away at this point?

According to Goal.com, Ireland is in discussions with Man City, trying to negotiate his exit. They have said we're in the front running to take him. I didn't know he was a United fan though.

The 1.5 Billion pound bid for United was actually from a Middle Eastern consortium and apparently was tabled months ago. The current value of the Red Knights' planned bid is believed to be also 1.5 Billion. Skysports also said that the Glazers have stated they see their longterm future at Manchester United.

Also on the transfer front it looks like Joe Cole is angling for a move to Tottenham, rather than United this summer.

ESPN is saying that with Gareth Barry's fitness now in question, Hargreaves might get called up for England. What a crazy ending to this season that would be!

Just our luck if he gets injured for bloody England. I'd be much happier if he got some R & R over the summer then came back and got a full preseason under his belt.

United > England.
