Sneijder can not defend......he needs players around him who would do the defensive work for him. He never tracks back for either Inter or the Dutch national team. At Inter he has the likes of Motta and Cambiasso doing the dirty work for him, and at the national team Van Bommel and De Jong...... Even David Silva is more capable of doing a defensive job, and he does not have the physical attributes either, Sneijder is even lighter than he is.....

Just btw, Redknapp likes the 4-4-2 just as much as SAF, and a lot of these same warnings were given before the van der Vaart signing (by me, but also respected pundits). It's turned out to be wildly successful.

I wonder if we could get Schweinsteiger from Bayern? Probably not, but he's the type of player we should be looking at.

Also I've been watching a lot of the boy at QPR, Adel Taarabt - very quick footed skills and a decent end product, reminds me a lot of a young Cristiano. I think he'd do a job for us next season.

I like Schweinie, he is the type of player that is willing to do the work in the midfield and can also create scoring chances, but who knows if he'd be willing to come to England.

What's his contract status? I seem to recall that he might be out of contract this summer...if we could sign him on a free transfer, that could be fantastic.

And honestly...I know it's a pipedream, but if we do have transfer money this summer I'd really like to see us go after Bale.

If we sign one Tottenham player, then I'd prefer Modric. Bale would be a brilliant addition, but Modric would fill the midfield position we urgently need - Bale is a winger, and we're not as desperate in that area with Nani, Park, Valencia (Giggsy for one more year) and Cleverley to come back.

It's the central area of the midfield that's the priority - and possibly another Keeper.

Modric will already be 26 by the beginning of next season though.

Bale is only 21 I think and is pretty much a younger Cristiano Ronaldo. We need someone who can take over a game like Ronaldo did, and Bale is that kind of player already at 21, imagine what he would be capable of if he came to United and was mentored by Ferguson and living legends liked Giggs and Scholes.

Yes, we have plenty of wingers already but I'd trade any one of them for Bale. Giggs will be gone after next season like you said...Park is a role player and already 30, Cleverley has potential but is unproven...and who knows if Valencia will be the same player after his injury.

I'd offer up Valencia plus cash for Bale, but I doubt they'd take it.

Anyway...Wigan this morning...with trips to the Bridge and Anfield looming, I think it goes without saying that today's game is a must-win.

Good points. But Modric at 26 will give us five or so years of service,

Bale's idol is Ryan Giggs, so that could work in our favour - but remember he turned us down once.

I don't want any player from Tottenham anymore. They made us pay ridiculous amounts for Berbatov and Carrick. They paid Modric for 16 millions so I doubt it they would sell him anywhere below 50 millions. Same goes for Bale.

I just hope we discover a hidden pearl for cheap like we did for Chicharito, Vidic, Evra, Smalling etc. Can you believe Chicharito only cost 3 millions?

Good game so far btw. The midfield is playing very well surprisingly.

Bale will surely recognize the fact that to continue improving he needs to be playing in Champion's League every season...especially since he's gotten a taste of it this term...if Spurs don't finish top four this season, maybe he'll be enticed to leave.

I'd offer up Valencia plus 20 million. If Spurs don't have CL income next season maybe they'd be more inclined to cash in on their young superstar.

Decent first half, another great goal for the kid...he has such great striking instinct. Great speed and made a great run to get goalside of his defender, and nice cool finish first touch.

Hopefully we don't blow it in the second half.

Chicha-hero! Great game. We need more games like this away from home. Thats only our 4th away win of the season. Good boost for our upcoming games against Chelsea and Liverpool.

Central midfield of Carrick and Scholes did very well. Carrick made some great passes from deep and Scholes did well as usual. Even ******* Gibson played well. What a pass he made for that 3rd goal.

Congrats to Fabio for his first senior goal. Interesting to see him play on the left wing.

Just seen it on MOTD. Chicharito is plain lethal.

Speaking of lethal, Wayne's elbow was flat out stupid and probably will earn him a spectator ticket for Arsenal and Liverpool. He's his own worst enemy. Lucky not to be sent off.

Don't be stupid, Schweinsteiger signed a new contract not 2 months ago.

and bale, I really don't think a team breaking into the top is going to sell their star player. He's going to be their gerrard. Bales a pipe dream, nothing more

What the hell was rooney thinking!

The thing that pissed me off the most was that after the match, idiot Ferguson actually had the audacity to say that he saw the replay and that there 'was nothing in it.'

Are you kidding me? Nothing in it? Simply put it was a deliberate and vicious elbow by Rooney. It was unprovoked and uncalled for. I hate seeing players pull that kind of crap and honestly I wish the ref had seen it and Rooney had been sent off as I would expect more class from United players.

What do you expect fergie to say? "Yes Rooney deserved a 3 match ban and a hefty fine" ?. At least he admitted seeing the incident unlike our french friend at arsenal.

I am sure rooney would have received a stern warning from fergie behind the curtains. and I hope he gets more than that. Hes been absolutely garbage. First touch is like a second division player. Seriously... the next english commentator/pundit who hypes him up to the level of ronaldo and messi needs a good bullocking.

^ Everyone is saying he's been garbage in that game but he made 1 great assist for Chicharito and scored 1 goal. Besides, he's the one who made that super through pass to Nani for the first goal. He's definitely not what is expected of him but the end product is there still. Does anyone know he's 3rd on the assists chart in the EPL this season? 3rd to Nani and Arshavin only. But yeah, his performance still needs to improve. He's doing just OK.

Typical Fergie, all part of the seige mentality he tries to create - I'll bet he bollocked Rooney in the dressing room though.

It was stupid, vicious and indefensible.

I have a sneaking suspicion Wayne might be shipped out in the summer, he's done nothing to justify the stupidly large contract he held us to ransom for.

Disciplinary wise, he seems to be going backwards too.

I always felt that that contract was just to keep him in until the summer and then get a big price for him. However, with his current form, I cannot see who in the world would want him. Except Real Madrid, of course.

10 assists.

Without him and Nani where would the goals come from? Gibson? Fletcher? No way! People are are bashing him because he's not scoring... But he adds a lot of creativity in a team which doesn't have a good central midfielder. He's doing an AM's job and thats whats keeping the team going.

But yeah with that kind of pay he's expected to do more.

Bertatov can create, and if Hernandez was getting the games instead of Rooney I'm sure that would happen.

Berbatov can create. But this season he's been more of the receiver and created very little. Berbatov scored a lot of goals from Rooney's passes. Chicharito too is more of a receiver than a passer. Don't think he would've made more assists than Rooney but he would've scored more for sure. Still can't believe we snatched him for only 3 millions. What a gem.
